Only just noticed this thread. My feelings about the match are in the football focus thread. I too feel that the Scot's and Northern Irish have had the best campaigns, and can hold their head high. My only gripe is that I always cheer on the "home nations" (except Wales of course) unless they're playing England, but most Scots and Irish I know just would never cheer on England!

One up front, and you leave the only man with a hope of feeding him on the bench! I know Beckham needed to be fitter, but at least he could have put a cross on Croutches head! I thought Darren Bent did very very well in making that chance for himself towards the end, I know he didn't score, but most people wouldn't have got a touch on the ball let alone a shot! I know spurs are struggling, but I really do like Bent, and think he may have a future...

Genuine or not, it's a dull (and far too excited by a butchers) first post. Think mine was on the subject of pub crawls... :-S

Having watched the first few minutes, I smoked a joint. Have never found a game of football so funny! Ian Wright got it spot on after the match, England didn't deserve to go through on what they did throughout the campaign. We were handed a chance, that we didn't deserve, on a plate, and still couldn't muster a performance! I was full of affection for Beckham last night, because his old legs were still trying, and like so many times before, he was one of the only ones that looked like he really really cared! Thought Croutch could hold his head up too, he even looked okay in the first half, but got nothing from his team mates. It pains me to say it, but Stevie G was a bit shit. I refuse to lay the blame with Carson, if it wasn't for him, we would have lost by a landslide. Just hope he comes through this because he's a better keeper than Robinson.

Don't wear contacts, but got 2 new pairs of glasses from Specsavers in Peckham in July, and to be honest I couldn't complain at all. It was more hectic than a little private place, but I didn't have to wait long, and I got 2 designer pairs for just under ?200. Then a couple of weeks later I went in to the Woolwich store as one of the nose pads had come off, and within 5 minutes I was out the door with them fixed.

Seems a waste to start a new one, the days of Loaded were the mid to late 90s, apparently their sales figures are sh!t these days.

I think England will get the result they need tonight. Both teams do have something to play for. With the host countries (who are sh!T) being saved a spot with the top seeds, it is important to win your group to avoid being drawn in a "group of death".

I've genuinely never heard of nutz, is it like viz?

I heard a thing on R4 about the Union Jack/Flag a while ago which basically agreed with Wikipedia.

Is your property on on the market with Foxtons Dulwich? (Lounged)

Have to agree about the houses in Brockley though! -
I have similar great memories, but most of them involve acid.

Good work, and big congrats!!!! As for the above comment... *shudders*

It's a sad thing, but basically the type of place where you see St George's cross hanging outside houses is The Brook Estate or Middlepark Estate in Eltham (I know, I have to visit these estates). Now the majority of people living here are lovely, nice people, who would only fly the flag out of pride in their footballing nation. However, it is, at the end of the day, Steven Lawrence country, and there are some nasty gits living around there! A good friend of mine is a policeman who covers the Brook estate, and he tells me every house put on the market there belongs to a black or asian family, and there are very few of these families left around there. Bloody shame! I hate walking around these places.

I always feel a bit bad about calling all estate agents scum, as I know at least 2 people who did a stint because they needed jobs. That said, there are so many of them who just fill the stereotype so well. I remember when myself and 2 friends were in one of the LL estate agents to get the keys to a flat we were renting. The helpful and nice girl we'd been dealing with was off that day, so we had to deal with Miles (says it all). We were talking to Miles when his mobile rang. He put his hand up to us to stop us talking, took the mobile out of his pocket, threw a foot up on to his desk, and answered his mobile with "Go". All 3 of us had to turn away and look out the window so as not to blatantly laugh in his face! Gold. -

I know what you're saying, and would agree for myself. Sure there will be plenty of takers though, and it was a nice idea to involve the local yutes. -

Don't know if this was at all aimed at me, but can I just say that I for one have never said they are all rude, or even that the one person is always rude. Was just telling a story, mainly to make them aware of something. As *Bob* says, the queues prove they're doing something right, and I am a fan of their stuff (not that I get there that often). I will say though, that even if they were rude all the time, I don't think it would suggest that a lot of people are "in to that kind of thing" at all, I truly believe that people will go there regardless.

I don't think muggers give it that much thought to be honest It's not just about avoiding muggers though, it's about being able to see clearly where you're walking, so you don't trip / miss a kerb / step in a huge puddle etc... For elderly people a fall can have fatal consequences, and good street lighting is very important. I do sypathise with Asset's story, I really do, but I would still have to vote on the side of good, bright lights.

Didn't realise they sold spuds, or any food. Are you sure? I totally agree about the attitude of the customers as well as the shop staff. Sometimes they might be having a bad day for whatever reason, it happens to all of us. Sometimes I am absolutely sickened by the way people talk (down) to the staff in shops. I always remember when I was working in Sainsbury's for a few months before I went off to uni in 1996. One day a woman most likely in her 30s asked me where the "Virtually fat free" milk was. I explained that it was where it had always been, but it had been relablled "Skimmed", and that it still had the blue lid. She called me a liar, started poking me in the chest with her finger, wanted to talk to my manager, and said it was no wonder I was working in Sainsbury's. I never got an appology when she was proven to be the f**king stupid c**t either! Bitch, don't know why she was bothering with skimmed anyway, she was fugly, and no amount of weight loss was going to change that! ... do I sound bitter? :-S

Now that's over shadowed if ever anything was! ;-) At least everyone's in a party mood, and you always have the day after your birthday off. :)-D

I don't think he should go for this either. It's not pushing blame away, or finger pointing. It had absolutely nothing to do with him! If an office junior in revenues stabbed a colleague no one would call for the chancellor's head.

Exactly!

I have to admit, the one time I had the curry club thing at a weatherspoons, I rather enjoyed it... I had just done a 10k charity run though, so had worked up an appetite!

She's just split with her hubby, and might have thought it worth it just to get away from all that. Plus she's had various issues for some time, I don't think she's a very well girl... I still would though!
