Yeah I remember all the kicking off about it, people are so stupid sometimes. Basically, first thing an asylem seeker will do when they get here is walk in to a housing office and declare themselves homeless. The coucil has a duty of care for these people who are generally penniless, and labelled "destitute plus", which means the council will house them, and give them something rubbish like ?30 a week to live on. For those out there who think they're living the life of riley, please try and survive for a month or 2 on ?30 a week. I think the majority of these people are eventually granted leave to remain * (usually within 6 months to a year), at which point they have more or less the same rights as a British Citizen. * I say this based on what I know through my work. The Asylem Seekers Team in my local authority had onlt known of one person sent home. There is a big difference between Asylem Seekers, and people that turn up requesting immigration on, for example, medical grounds... They will get no financial support, and will wait an age!

I agree pretty much completely, I was just pulling your leg (which I can't resist doing to an Arsenal fan). I just want the new manager to be someone who isn't scared of bruising an ego, and dropping someone. I also want to see players from "smaller" teams in the set up... The thing is, the Prem League is becoming more and more like the Scottish League with the "big four" pulling so far ahead of the rest (much like Rangers and Celtic). I'm not saying it's as bad as that, but the only time in recent memory that the top 4 haven't been Arsenal, Man U, Chelski and Liverpool (in whatever order) was when Everton had one good season and finished ahead of Liverpool. My point is, the players are not really used to scrapping if things don't go their way... Okay so Stevie G drove Liverpool on from 3 nil down in the champs league final a couple of years ago, but that was just an amazing game. Generally these players are used to winning, and need more of a fighting spirit. I'd be interesteed to see and England team not including any "big four" players, and see the way they played. Of course I'm not saying Gerrard and Terry shouldn't be involved, they are great players, but we need more grit. Anyway, the more I think about it, the more I want 'Arry to be boss... If it doesn't work, at least it will be interesting!

Nemo for me in animation. Only saw the first Bourne film recently, and enjoyed it, so will have to try and see the others... mockney piers Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Withnail, most perfect film script ever written, not a word out of place. I often agree with you about films, and Mrs Keef loves this, but for me, it's one of the most over rated films I've ever seen. I just find the characters annoying, and can't sit through it (having tried on many occasions). Maybe one day it'll just click, but usually it just makes me go to sleep. Couple of my all time faves... Dangerous Liasons (and thought Cruel Intentions did a good job of modernizing it, and Ryan Phillipe was good in the John Malkovich role), Last of the Mohicans (used to have such a crush on Johdi May), Sunset Blvd, True Romance, Human Traffic, Romeo & Juliet (The modern 90's version, guess it's a love it or hate it thing, but I think it just looked stunning). Comedy, often stupid, but make me laugh. Coming to America, Dodgeball, Team America, Some like it hot, Neapolean Dynamite. I love watching films, and not even ashamed to admit that I sometimes enjoy a bit of "rom com" or "teen movies" (I like 10 things I hate about you"( but it is based on Shakespeare darling) ;-) , and "Never been kissed".

John Humphrey's thinks he is a lot brighter than he actually is. He obviously watched some of the great interviewers goading people, and decided that the way to get answers was to speak louder than the person he's interviewing. I'm not a big fan, but I still find myself listening! I love some of the people on Radio 4, especially the book of the week programme (whatever it's called). They are just so incredibly desperate to show how intellectually superior they are, and quite often, they're talking absolute dross!

Roy Keane is a tosser, don't you worry about what he thinks. England are f**ked though, as Atila points out, we have 2 Arsenal players against us, we don't stand a chance.

I just remembered that a kind hearted friend of mine got done ina sort of similar way not long ago. It was about 1am, and we were heading to the kebab shop, when a guy came running up to us, and gave us some story about needing ?10 for a cab to get his daughter to her mum or something, it was quite convincing but didn't sit well with me, so I said I had no money on me. My friend gave him a tenner (despite mykicking of his shins). The thing is, the guy promised to pay the money back the following day, and gave my friend a mobile number which he even told him to test there and then, and sure enough the mobile (which he'd probably nicked that evening) rang... It's just so hard to tell, I must admit, I was very unsure. They always bring kids in to it, which makes you think, "if they're telling the truth, that poor kid"...

Next time she comes to your door, ask her in, then mug her, she probably has loads of money on her that she's managed to con out of people! Some local yutes smashed our door buzzer a while ago, and landlords haven't bothered sorting it. Bit annoying that everyone has to phone me to tell me they're outside, but very nice not to get anyone inturrupting my peace!

Shut it you, we've won every game that I've watched with you so far!

I think he's a quality actor. His kid (not sure if it was a son or daughter) was at Aske's when I was there (a few years below me), and there was always a bit of a clamour when he'd turn up to concerts and things... I always thought it was cool that he made the effort.

What happened on Peckham Rye Park today? (November 25)
Keef replied to PeckhamRose's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Poor lad, that must have been f**king scary! This is why fireworks need to be taken off the streets. Sorry to be a kill joy, I love a firework party in the garden, but at the end of the day, age laws don't work any more than they do with booze and fags. Lat year I was walking to the bus stop in Woolwich, and kids were throwing bangers around. I didn't realise what was happening til one went off about a foot away from my leg, I jumped out of my skin. It's just so bloody dangerous, and a miracle that more things like this don't happen. -
What Snorky said!!! I hate these people, they are giving people that really need somewhere to stay, nothing more than a very no thrills roof over their head, and a kitchen to share between loads of them, and charging the council (via housing benefits, or funding for those with "No recourse to public funds", who are "destitue plus") a fortune for it! Chav, I think you're correct that it is mainly made up of asylem seekers these days... That was definitely the case a couple of years ago.

No, but lived there for over 5 years, and have been to Anfield many many times, which is more than can be said for a lot of fans. Oh, and they haven't won a league title since I've supported them, think I'm bad luck.

I think those houses are okay. Bloody expensive for what they are, but still quite nice.

Yeah his mega put on hard cockney accent do my head in, but loved him as Moff in Human Traffic, and like football factory too. Wasn't he in High heels and low lives too? That was a film I enjoyed a lot more than I thought I would!!!

Has anyone seen Outlaws with Sean Bean, Bob Hoskins, Danny Dyer and more? Someone at work said it was great, but not sure I would share their taste...

No, I shall never learn to drive, it's much better to get lifts everywhere!

Heh heh ;-)

Piers what was that film I watched with you, black comedy in the trenches of Bosnia or somewhere like that. That was really really good!

First music I got in to (other than Madonna and Michael Jackson when I was a little kid) was Ozzy, Sabbath, Deep Purple and Rainbow. Randy Ehodes was my first guitar idol (before Slash), and he died before my 4th birthday! However, I always studied music too, so enjoyed a good melody as well as loud dirty guitar riffs! B) Marquee club in Wardour Street when they were > first starting out and that was fabulous little > place to see up and coming bands. Actually the first UK venue Guns n' Roses played. I saw a couple of gigs there, haven't they opened a new Marquee somewhere else now?

Good work Ratty, what a knob!

I like the idea of 'arry taking over England. Plus Ferdinand, Joe Cole and Lampard all started out with him, and apparently look up to him.

Good thread, I love films! (much better way to spend an evening than watching the crap they put on telly) One waiting for me to watch at home is A guide to recognising your saints, which I stumbled across, and liked the sound of... I shall let you know what it's like. This is England is on my Lovefilm list too. Films I've really enjoyed in the last year or maybe 2 would include Kenny (Aussie film, I saw over there last year. It's just been out in cinemas here, and is released on DVD soon. It's a mockumentary about a porter loo plumber. It's great!!!) Little Miss Sunshine, Babel, Last King of Scotland, Hotel Rwanda (although couldn't help thinking the ending was a bit too happy and took away from the horrors of the whole thing), The Constant Gardener (great book, and a decent film adaptaion), Tsotsi (get the tissues ready at the end), Hidden (odd French film, good though), Million Dollar Baby (another tissue moment), Broken Flowers (good bit of Bill Murray), I heart Huckabees (bit of philosophy), Layer Cake. Whilst I thought it was very well done, I was genuinely disturbed by Wolf Creek, it is horrible! There are loads more that I love, but these are more recent ones.
