  1. Only one degree of separation between Strictly and the Laughing Gnome. Who knew.
  2. Season 2 finished. Is there anyone who could loan me Season 3? I can swap for my Pedro Almodovar collection or I have CSI Vegas seasons 1 - 4. Pretty please.
  3. Did nobody offer to suck the venom out?
  4. Time to Make You Mine - Lisa Stansfield
  5. Donmar Warehouse - today is the first public booking day for the new season. The Donmar excells at everything but I think the Dolls House is worth singling out - I think Gillian Anderson is inspired casting for Nora. Please don't be put off that it's a long time ahead and you may not be able to go because you don't know what you're plans are for next year; the Donmar takes returns and because the theatre is so tiny, by the time the plays are put on they are completely sold out and the box office is grateful for returns (as is the hopeful queue that forms daily). The best place to sit is in the stalls facing the stage, then in the stalls at the side of the stage. Only go up to the circle if you really have to. https://etickets.theambassadors.com/ShowList.aspx
  6. Drunk people are always annoying - unless you're on of them. It's a golden rule.
  7. People breathing down my neck in queues. Take a step back and get out of my space.

    Great Gigs

Annasfield - I don't blame you - it's really not a very nice venue. Just another big arena. BUT - it's saving grace is that it's a doddle to get from O2 to ED; 4 stops away from London Bridge - piece of cake. And you're very fond of London Bridge, yes?
  10. I'm a complete lightweight in the alcohol department - barmaid's apron. Very cheap date - don't eat much and can't drink much. My strict rule is stop at 2 but Wednesday was not a good day, and I went to 3 (possibly 3 and a half - who knows). Suffice to say I had the mother and father of all hangovers. The lowpoint, possibly of my whole year when I think about it, was jumping off the bus at the Elephant & Castle and ... dear God above I can't believe I'm typing this ..... being sick down my own sleeve. Classy.

    Great Gigs

I saw Leonard Cohen last night at O2. Best gig I've been to this year. Absolute class. Masterful. 74 I think.

Often when the media whip things up it is just a storm in a teacup with big headlines to sell papers. I have avoided the media coverage on this case as I don't want to know the details of how the child suffered. But the child did suffer. That's my point.
  13. I'm sure that, as always, the media likes to whip people up into a frenzy - it sells papers. But you really can't get round the fact that this child had a horrible life / death.
  14. I have tried really really hard not to have a knee-jerk reaction to this. But I've failed. I tried to ignore the media coverage but I saw some at lunchtime and I had to take myself off to a meeting room and lock the door so that I could weep. I want the people who tortured and killed this child to die a horrible and slow death spitting blood. I truly hope that when they get to prison the other inmates feel the same way.

Kings of Leon are returning to the O2 next summer (I know they haven't actually been yet, to come back, but nevermind). For those on the O2 network text "KINGS" to 2402 for a presale code, for everyone else they'll be on sale this Friday.
  16. David - do you have a camera hidden in my house? A bug in my garage? That's illegal isn't it? Hope you bought direct at www.roundhouse.org.uk - save on those pesky booking fees. The circle is actually quite nice at the Roundhouse BTW - only has about 5 rows - not like Hammersmith or Brixton where you're miles away.
  17. Westel Woodbury Willoughby Debut album "It has no point" I can hardly wait for my first gig. David - are you seeing Fleet Foxes at the Roundhouse?
  18. David - have you heard of Fleet Foxes? They're very folk-pop. Sorry - I can't post a Youtube 'cos I'm at work and don't have access.
  19. Guys - there are about 5 different Wire threads on the forum now without "turning" the "Oh my..." thread. Having said that, McNulty. I definitely would.
  20. Omar has a rich velvety voice which is deeply attractive. I'm guessing that's not the source of your thing though is it Chav?
  21. Rock the Casbah - Clash
  22. Nice green eyes
  23. Nah - you're deluded. I'm not prepared to concede that Roger Moore was EVER totty.
  24. I did that once - for Angels in America at the National years ago - two very long plays in one day - your bum will go numb so take advantage of any opportunity to get up and walk around.
  25. Blind Boys of Alabama get my vote (series 1). I saw them years ago supporting Peter Gabriel - it was amazing just watching them getting on/off the stage. Pure magic. Tom Waits has such a massive and loyal fan-base and I just don't get him. At all.
