  1. Mussolini suffered from a wheat intolerance.
  2. The old town is so condensed you won't need a taxi unless you're staying way out. An interesting walk is up to Stalin's Metronome on a hill overlooking the city. Interesting views but the area's largely used by skateboarders. If you've not been to the cemetery in the Jewish corner that's worth a visit and there's also a nice park on Petrin Hill with an observation tower which also offers good views. Avoid Wenceslas Sq unless you want high st shopping.
  3. Did you get the cat in?
  4. It's a British cultural thing. After a certain age you buy a Bungalow near the coast and die.
  5. Get off yer horse and drink yer milk!
  6. Ant, how does it fit with your other lenses and what do you plan to use it for? It's a beautiful lens. Very fast, pin sharp and sound construction. Great for portraits. I bought this lens last year but find I'm not using it as much as I thought I would, simply because I find the flexibility of a 28-70 and 70-200 tend to cover most eventualities when I need a lens in a hurry.
  7. But if that was the case for terms like spaz, wog and paki (terms commonly used in the 60's and 70's) would you still feel that they were acceptable terms to use now because you're of 'an age'? Surely older means wiser not defiantly ignorant.
  8. They have automatic collision detectors to avoid such a thing. Safer than these geriatric powered scooters that smash your ankles in Sainsbo's.
  9. They're still around. I've seen them in use on military sites like airfields and in big US business parks. The i-real can be used by able and disabled people. Has full phone and web communications, pretty light displays, parking sensors and a max speed of 20mph.
  10. There are too many two wheeled vehicles in London. Within 10 years we'll look like Shanghai did 30 years ago. So perhaps a charge is a good thing with concessions for fully loaded tandems and motorbikes with pillion and sidecar passengers. This is the future.
  11. Birthdays, leavers and sponsorship. All in the same bag. Some you do, some you can't be bothered with and others you take care of in your own personal way. I wouldn't read too much into it unless they were close friends with good jobs that you'd known for ages and spent many an evening buying them drinks and telling them how wonderful you thought they were and how much effort and time you were putting into that challenge. If so then drop'em.
  12. A friend of mine rented a flat in Tulse Hill last year through a well known high street estate agent. Eventually the tenant stopped paying rent and they had to go through the long and costly process of getting an eviction through the courts. When they asked about the credit check that the EA had done, they discovered that none had in fact been done despite being charged for it. They wanted to sue but then found out that the flat renting department wasn't even owned by the estate agent and it would be pointless trying to recover lost rent and expenses. Be careful out there. Some Estate Agents just aren't very scrupulous.
  13. Every time I pass by I always wonder about the family and how much grief they must be going through to build such a memorial here. It's quite common these days to see these types of reminders, but they're not often as elaborate or as long lasting as this one. The reason I snapped a pic was because I noticed that marble chips/gravel had been recently laid with a black marble headstone on top and a picture of a young boy and older man. Father and son? It seems to be becoming more of a permanent feature now. I also wonder what the council and local residents think. The day will surely come when the council will say enough. Is this the right thing to do? A tough decision as I'm sure they'd originally thought it would just fade away and didn't want to intrude on the families mourning.
  14. Was Victoria a rather large lady then?
  15. I had to leave before Aswad came on stage. Were they any good?
  16. lorenika the other option is not to rent via an estate agent. Check out the property section on the forum or the classified section in the Standard or South London Press and deal direct.
  17. Does anybody know the story behind this memorial on Sydenham Hill that seems to have become more of a permanent fixture over the last year. Obviously the family concerned must be absolutely devastated over their loss.
  18. Apparently the Ovis in question was called Beth. The accused has argued that he left his jogging bottoms behind because he was doing the Lamb Beth walk.
  19. Yours only matters if you already think it's wrong
  20. Well that's your opinion
  21. An opinion is only an opinion.
  22. As a typical fella going abroad, I always pack my shoes in the false bottom of my suitcase along with my medication.
  23. Omar is on Sat night and Aswad on Sunday night
  24. There's plenty of variety in an around ED for different tastes and budgets. I'd try all of them until you find one that suits you. One mans BBC is another's Curry Cabin. PS I think Omrith are pretty good too.
  25. Tragically another sad statistic
