  1. Sorry to hear that Bailey84. Not sure running after him was the wisest thing to do, but shock makes us do unpredictable things. Shouting is always good, especially 'Fire!' which apparently has the most response rate from passers-by. It is boring, but you should report this to the police, often low-key assaults* lead to greater crimes. *I'm not belittling your experience - I hope you know what I mean. You are right that it is appalling that this happened, you can't really do any more than stick to well-lit areas and mentally plan ahead for possible scenarios.
  2. Thank you, Mick Mac. I'm just going for a walk now, I may be some time.* *Can't bear to be near a TV or radio - I know it's going to end badly.
  3. Or David Essex.
  4. I'll hold you to that!
  5. As I recall, you didn't accept my bet. But since Celtic will probably thrash Rangers, I'm pretty relieved. I'm sure Mr Madden is a very pleasant chap, and completely disinterested!
  6. For people, East Lane off the Walworth Road is brilliant.
  7. "I must be a unitary clique." As long as you're not a unitarian clique, for then you'd be a sect, which is a whole new thread. Then again, perhaps we need more sects on the EDF. Edited to include bad pun.
  8. Make Zenoria one way towards LLane, and encourage drivers to use Melbourne Grove, with traffic lights if necessary onto Dulwich Grove. Surely pedestrian safety has priority over a few minutes for a car driver?
  9. Surely the easiest/cheapest thing to do would be to ban right turns from Lordship Lane into Dulwich Grove except for buses. The near misses I have had/seen, all come from cars speeding right to buck the traffic lights.
  10. I think that's a bit out of date, the road no longer has the red paviours which at least emphasised a spot for pedestrians crossing.
  11. There have now been two broken leg incidents on that crossing in one month. It is such a dangerous place to cross (as Maxxi described above). Do we have to wait for a fatality before something is done?
  12. Or dear, old Alice Cooper.
  13. What do you know about Hamilton Accies, Help-Ma-Boab?
  14. Loads of thyme at the minimart on Bellenden Road (or at least there was this morning).
  15. Tom at Flock & Herd is wonderful. Just popped in and what with derinding, slicing, dicing and mincing, he has nearly made my terrine for me. Brilliant service.
  16. What eejit invented self-sealing bags - the ones where you need an IQ of 192 to get one plastic strip to fit into the groove?
  17. You are all wrong. It's "Good Morning Mr Magpie" x 3, then turn around and spit on the ground. Very ladylike.
  18. But marshmallows did originate from the mallow plant, though whether they grew in marshes, I have no idea.
  19. That's what kind neighbours are for, worldwiser. Jeremy, you may well find that one of yours put the bins back - no need to be so cynical.
  20. That's nice for you. My best one was half a mouse and two embryos.
  21. The card shop in North Cross Road usually stock them.
  22. Can't remember the name, but the first garage under the arches as you drive down Blenheim Grove in Peckham (from Bellenden Rd). Also, the chap opposite the corner gift shop in Bellenden Rd (the one with the art deco stuff above its door) - he's by a post box. Both are reasonably reasonable.
  23. James, I heard that a lady was run over crossing E.Dulwich Grove yesterday (broken leg, I believe). You kindly invited me to join an observation group when I expressed concerns about pedestrian safety sometime ago, but I haven't heard anything since.
  24. My one beef with F&Herd is that they don't do unsmoked streaky bacon. I don't like back either.
