  1. Peckham Peculiar had a photo' on their Facebook page.
  2. Wot Jah said. (Still haven't forgiven Ian Wright for behaving like a dick.)
  3. Lilliers HQ, 1914 ...We all waited about in the lane outside the chateau. There were perhaps two or three hundred of us and we made a large crowd. Whilst standing about, a French courting couple came down the lane arm in arm. They were talking one with the other and walked past us on their way to the village. When they had got about fifty yards past us, the chap stopped and passed water in the gutter, his girl still having her arm through his and quite unconcerned, was chatting away to him. This of course, the men could not help noticing and they acted in different ways. Some turned away their heads, others roared with laughter, while others called out to the couple that they ought to be ashamed of themselves. The couple, who took not much notice of any of it, perhaps wondered what it was all about for the French sense of decency was far different from out own. 4. Well done. Are you buying everyone a drink?
  5. Party pooper. Bet you call them Old Kent Road and Edgware Road too!
  6. El Pibe, I love you!!! Anyone else noticed that the Ukraine and the Crimea seem to have lost their definite articles in most news reports?
  7. Charity Dying in Dignity: "The law needs to change ...To that end the Assisted Dying Bill will shortly be debated by the House of Lords. This change in the law would result in fewer dying adults - and their families - facing unnecessary suffering at the end of their lives. "The Bill is supported by an overwhelming majority of the British public. This is a problem that can no longer be ignored, and it is time for Parliament to act." Did I miss the referendum or am I merely underwhelming?
  8. Loose knits and total bollocks remind me of "The Hairdresser's Husband".
  9. This may be treason but, do we really need the Drawing Room any more? The Lounge is ticking along nicely with high and low brow threads.
  10. Couldn't 2014 be the year of the Barry Barry Three-Legged Race? As a confirmed spectator, that could be very amusing.
  11. Someone's made a case for them: http://www.bagpipecase.com/ Anyway, whatever Quids can drum up gets trumped by one thing: tablet. QED.
  12. Opel Fruits: made to make your mouth water.
  13. Mrs PGC Swift. No, it doesn't work.
  14. I believe the East Dulwich Tavern used to be called the East Dulwich Hotel. Anyone wanna be in my gang?
  15. Those shorts are short.
  16. If anyone is interested in the POW huts (since the last one standing seems doomed), there is a talk by Peter Frost of the Peckham Society on Sunday, 27 April at 3.30 pm at the Goose Green Centre: The History of the POW huts on Peckham Rye Common.
  17. Cricket has been played on the Rye since at least 1748. No recorded incidences of death and mayhem that I can find.
  18. Love Doris Day. She is so sultry in "Young Man with a Horn" and even smokes a cigarette with elegance. (Also the title makes me snigger.)
  19. Let's look at the clues, Bob, who lives in a house like this? A cinema and swimming pool - it has to be Johnny Weismuller.
  20. Here ya go: http://mrsdarcylovesmakeup.blogspot.co.uk/
  21. Sorry to hear you are unwell, Louisa. Shall I pick you some daffodils?
