  1. That's unnecessary Huguenot and also unfair. They care and they don't want to be elected; just to have a fair say, which the councils are obliged to give them but which they never listen to or act upon.
  2. Still, what could you do with a back balcony 3 floors up that I'm not doing. Covered in hanging baskets and trained honeysuckle and wisteria and bird feeders and hanging helmets. And space to sit down in the sun. All in an 8 ft by 6 ft little space! I tell ya what you could do, put anti- squirrel climbing stuff all up the drainpipes to us so they can't climb up and damage everything! Good luck everybody else!
  3. Damn, just sent the competition entry off THEN realised us lot in SE15 are not eligible. Sorry for having wasted your time, Mr Cheetham...
  4. I attend meetings and make suggestions and submit ideas and try to answer to Southwark's never ending requests for our contributions and thoughts on their plans. It never makes a bit of difference. I don't mean - by saying that - that I'm sulking because they ignore all my suggestions, I really am not. What I am saying is that I have never heard or seen any evidence where any suggestion or complaint or contribution to any scheme Southwark Council suggests, is ever acted upon. They have an idea, they implement it (unless the money runs out beforehand). Laws say they have to ask us what we think. Laws do not say the Council has to take any notice at all. The PROS website is great by the way pros! And this is a Drawing Room issue. It's serious and affects us all.
  5. Carrots for breakfast LadyMuck? Wow! Bowl of cereal - mix of branflakes and mini weetabix with banana, followed by two slices of home made bread (machine acquired from this forum!) one with Vegemite and the next with Grapefruit marmalade. Two mugs of coffee of course. That lot sees me through till about an hour ago!
  6. May I make a suggestion that you join The Peckham Society and also read some of Mr John Beasley's books about Peckham? You'll learn that the wood structure building behind 'Crackerjacks' on Peckham High Street has finally been granted Grade II listing! Having said that, the website is not often updated, but the quarterly magazine edited by Mr Beasley himself has come second in some national award for the best local group magazine. How fab is that!
  7. Another point is that the government say they will not do certain things with the information, but they say that now. When road humps came into force TfL or its equivalent at the time stated categorically they would not be putting these road humps on bus routes. You see my point.
  8. I have thought long and hard about this opting out thing. I am an educated person and not a 'reactionary', and I definitely appreciate the benefits well designed technology can bring us. I am neither a luddite nor a moron. I have a Donor card I carry at all times and I have written on it what I am allergic to, my Blood Group (A+) and my next of kin and his number, as well as the conditions with which I suffer. When I was rushed to Kings College Hospital once I had the breath to merely speak my hospital number and name and none of the nurses or doctors bothered to check out my details anyway. Now who do you know who can recite their hospital number (and NI number and self employed tax reference etc!) What use is it if they don't even look at it anyway! But there are other reasons I stated and I stand by my decision and freedom to opt out without being called stupid names by those otherwise probably cleverer than I.
  9. All fine till the government tells us how - when riding at 10mph - you cause far less damage to someone's insides than you would do hitting them at 20mph, because they crossed the road without looking even though it's not your fault, and so we'll have a blanket ten miles an hour across the whole borough / London. And then all fine till the government tells us how when riding at 5mph you cause far less damage to someone's insides when you hit them because they crossed the road without looking even though it's not your fault, and so we'll have a blanket five miles an hour across the whole borough / London. What!

    Heaven

A plain chocolate hob nob biscuit on a plate next to me mug of tea. Someone else said similar; I concur!

Someone saying 'Thank you' when I have done my job well. A good motorcycle ride specially when it involves mountains or the coastline. But even just going to the West End or The City and seeing Big Ben or Tower Bridge makes me so happy to be in London. Waking up with a sleeping Spacey cat next to me. (Just HAD to put photo MrPR took one morning!) Walking through Peckham Rye Park!
  12. I ride a motorcycle. Your point is?
  13. The battered For Sale sign hangs precariously on the outside of the pub above the faded Sky Sports banner. Sky has not been shown in the pub for years, and anyway, most of them prefer to watch the horse racing. Maureen, the barmaid, shows off her new nails to Trev, the landlord who she realises is now her boyfriend. He has a go at her for wasting their money when they need to save to get Kevin the Staffie castrated. They both love Kevin very much. Kevin loves this pub and his new owners. He was bought by them off Jason who wasn't too nice to him. Kevin still walks with a limp. He knows seven words now! Walk. No. Dinner. Stay. Good Boy and from his previous owner Kill. (Edited to change the barmaid's name to Maureen as per previously mentioned!)
  14. You're having traffic angering* measures, in those streets? Wow! (* Well they don't calm me down!) Was talking to prospective tory councillors about this the other day - not that I'd ever vote tory you understand - but they seemed to agree that road bumps / cushions are more dangerous. The Institute of Advanced Motoring says one should drive to plan in advance, look as far ahead as possible to give yourself time to make decisions, but with road bumps everywhere that can't happen. Having said that, I am glad some money is going to make the roads smoother - apart from if they put bumps in!
  15. So heterosexual AND couples only. How very. very dare you. (This IS 2010, right?)
  16. Sue I PMd you but your storage space is FULL. Empty it, darlin'!
  17. BH5 I was not being patronising, spectacularly so or otherwise. See? You're contributing to the nastiness. It's so easy.
  18. Well quids what happens now? You're rushed in unconscious with no ID. They take a blood sample, they take a little time maybe with help of police but they get enoiugh info to get you safe whilst more info is gleaned from police or a witness, someone phones saying you've gone missing, you're IDd. Sorted. Hope it never happens. SOOOO wear an ID tag with your name and NHS number Hospital Number blood group DONOR CARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Am I allowed to say this? Carry a donor card. Write on it what you're allergic to. It's not a signature you over eager moderators.
  19. I also agree with giggirl. If your breath reeks of cigarettes and you have a paunch, who cares your hair is grey?
  20. Just spent ages when I shoulda been working to read all four pages of this thread. What a lot of nonsense. I agree moderators should be IDd with their name as they are in other forums I am a member of. They're like prefects - you might behave better around them. This forum is a microcosm of society, which itself many believe is 'sick'. Anthropologists study societies gone sick and try to explain why things happened; this one is no different. But unlike discussing things in person, we can't see one another's faces to read what's not being said - it's like we're all wearing veils... so we misunderstand one another. I am sorry that some people were hurt and upset but there's people dying out there in earthquakes and starving, so get a grip on what is important and follow the universal one law that James May made up. Don't be a prat.
  21. He's not allowed to say anymore, they've taken away his freedom of speech. I am sure this is a serious thread but till he elaborates if he can, what can ya do?
  22. I have a great recipe for the American pancakes which are thicker and scrummy. Unfortunately it is now Wednesday and I totally forgot to do any of this last night. I spent too much time reading my summary care records.....
  23. I am opting out. This is all very important and it distresses me that so many of you are not bothering to read it all. By not acting on it your records will be put on the summary care record. It can not be deleted. Who knows if it can be amended. And currently it will only be available to health professionals. Currently. In future I don't see why health professionals working for insurance companies will not be able to access the information and make judgements on your suitability to be insured because of some gene you possess which may in the future.... you see where I am going with this. I am out of it. I am out of the national spine too, which I thought was the same thing but anyway I opeted out of that. As for the lost file, SteveT - I too experienced Kings losing my file years ago. Allow human error, they maybe just filed it under SteveS or SteveU. It's inconvenient and maybe dangerous depending on the situation, but it is human error. The summary care record could also have human error attached that can not be deleted (unlike your paper files which can be, if you then find you have to go to another department after the one you're in and they 'trust' you to take your own files with you.....and you need to go to the loo, etc etc) Anyway, Summary Care Records: I have opted out, and to those of you who can't be arsed to even read this stuff, I hope everything goes well for you in the future!
  24. Such ridiculousness. The Peckham Rye Park is in peckham Rye so why is it not Peckham Rye Ward? And I did email the Peckham Rye snt after your first posting, emily but they never got back to me.
  25. You have to explain this all in more detail, sorry. Or are you not allowed to?
