  1. Could EDF charter a plane and all go to the housewarming party? Been to many states in the US but not New Hampshire. ;) You'll be back here, you need us. Best wishes.
  2. What everyone else has said. And it's a wonderful posting. That's what this forum does best, makes us think as well. Now, here's my tuppence worth. It's not about you. It's about her. She has made up her mind. She may not have been around for so long or as happy about being so, had you not visited and befriended her. She may not even want your acceptance or care for it. But you may never forgive yourself if you don't say goodbye to her and smile, thanking her for everything she has given you over the years. Of course you'll cry and she may not react in the way you want or need her to. That's her! But do go say goodbye and let her know what she meant to you. Buy her something sweet or special she loves to eat, to take with her maybe.
  3. I am enjoying this thread but wish you'd all credit the lyricists!
  4. " , Hope you got the letter and I pray you can make it better down here.... and all the people that you made in your image, see them dying on their feet, coz they can't get enough to eat from God." XTC. and all lyrics ever written by 10CC ever, except Dreadlock Holiday! ruffers I LOVE your contribution !! It is said degrees divide a circle's square Pencil out each portion let a ruler keep it fair Dedicate all history to this abstract here Throw away the circle trade the circle for a sphere (fIREHOSE) As you can see, I like philosophical ones. But I also love
  5. I am really stuck. Politically I am way left of this New Labour. Mind you, Ted Heath was left of this New Labour! They have certainly had 13 years. But Cameron is a danger. He will cut benefits to people who really need them and would not dare hit the rich. The long term sickness benefit issue is one such issue he will dive in to. I am not saying it is perfect now. The reactions of the people who choose to comment on the BBC website is neither here nor there; they are as broad a bunch of commentators representing the whole of our society as - well as we are here on East Dulwich Forum. I know I do not want to vote for the Greens (who are so unrealistic), the LibDems (for what they do in Southwark) or the Tories, but neither for the first time do I want to vote for this Labour party. And I do want to vote; I will vote. But for whom!?
  6. Keef that's a wonderful and useful posting. Even biting/picking nails is a form of self harm. The psychology of it all is relatively easy to understand, but trying to break the habit is not. CBT does have its place for some, the 'right' form of relationship works for others, and somehow finding it within yourself over time to be stronger and emotionally self sufficient is another. I have self harmed and sometimes still do, and the power thing explanation makes sense for me. "Secretary" anyone? This is a brilliantly intelligent film about finding the right sort of relationship for the right people (with or without the connecting problems). (All most people may remember is that it was about Dominant / submissive relationships but in fact it was much more intelligent than that and I could talk anyone through any and every single scene and character motivation in that film!) She self harmed, He felt guilty about wanting to Dominate, and ALL she needed was someone strong to say "You will never do that again".
  7. Did she fold back well into the box she arrived in?
  8. I met MrPR through Time Out Lonely Hearts twenty and a half years ago, but it was so much simpler then....! It was me that placed the advert. I am sure she shall meet some lovely people.
  9. What a great posting. I am forwarding your posting to my mate! What a great friend you are.
  10. The 'problem' of motherhood. Hmm! I also need a definition of the word 'work'. One of my jobs I would do for free and often do. But when it pays it's suddenly more respectable and means more. Sometimes I work for years on a project and it may never see the light of day or someone may come along and pay me for it. It's still work but it's also my life! Everything is so compartmentalised in society, even the meanings of words. Sometimes I know I do not belong in these worlds where people put me in to compartments or types, and make expectations on what I should do and be and feel and think. If it weren't for the need to earn money to pay for my life I'd be happy not working and just travelling for ever and ever. My mate thinks that too and we are different genders!
  11. Pearson that's ridiculous, sorry but it is. If everyone reported all such crimes and incidents like this then the police would know to target resources. Come along to the local Police Ward panel and tell them your views, but please report it. You can even report it online.
  12. I had a letter from 'her' today about the Save the South london line. So that's what she did yesterday, wrote to me.
  13. Yeah right. She is into images not words! Bet you 'was' there all day. ;)
  14. SPITS mouthful of red wine (I think that's what he said it was) all over the monitor.
  15. "Peckham Proper IS a dump". yeah. Right. uh huh.
  16. Or buy sex from it!
  17. Buy yer own and support the woman!
  18. I also have met Anna Span and am delighted she is wanting to become a politician. We need politicians to come from a very broad range of professions and lives and backgrounds and she is a very intelligent woman. Is pornography so funny? The subject can be but the word has been highjacked and many people can't see beyond the word. Women friendly porn is most brilliantly described by *Bob*! Female friendly porn is by its nature sexist because while you don't need to let us through the door in front of you, we do nevertheless want to come first or at the same time before you fall asleep. It all boils down to what those crazy folk who believe all that nonsense written by men in the bible. Those crazy religious folk see it as a sin and something to equate with 'power'. And they had the money and the education to order us all about. The rest of us didn't stand a chance! The more that women write and produce 'porn' and show it as positive and non threatening, the less the problem will be.* Hoorah for Anna Span. And I LOVED the film Secretary which showed the submissive woman having the power. AND it was funny! * appalling sentence structure!
  19. He is such an accent chameleon. When someone with a working class accent rings in he acts all chummy and makes out he understands everything the person is on about and so on, but when someone from a different class comes on sure enough he ups his class-ness a couple of notches. He just doesn't seem to be genuine; there's nothing real about him, as if he doesn't have his own personality. He's also very anal retentive like a lot of right on liberals. He asked me on air once what my favourite shop was. At the time it was the Sh! Women's store in Coronet Street N1, so I said so, and you could see the beads of sweaty embarrassment come out the radio and he just couldn't cope with it. How we laughed.
  20. Exactly, you councillors and other politicians are turning everything / seeing everything as a crime. It is not a crime for a driver/ biker to drive sensibly over a particular speed limit when one is able to drive sensibly, see the road in advance and plan ahead as recommended by the Institute of Advanced Motoring. But no, politicians say 'let's make it a 20mph zone' so now we're crims.
  21. I am glad you told the police. The local safer neighbourhood watch team are quite active around that area at the moment.
  22. There's an item in another forum called TheLondonBikers where it has been discovered that these cars are themselves not required to obey the rules they fine others for. So if they're parked on a double yellow line taking a photo of a car parked on a double yellow line in order to send them a fine, that's allowed; they weren't breaking the law themselves by parking on the double yellow line. Ridiculous eh?
  23. I'm thinking Ruth Jones as Ness in Gavin & Stacey. Fishnets, boots, Dominatrix black wig and heavy black make-up. Lush!
