Scooter knocked over on Melbourne Grove
PeckhamRose replied to Carrie's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Well done indeed. Even so, it would be difficult to prove if the female driver simply denies it. Unless the paint scratch matches of course. -
But when we ride past the flowers at the lamppost, we do not know who it is who died. We just know that someone died here, either as a result of a vehicle going too fast or as a result of someone walking in front of the traffic and not looking where they were going. Either way, it reminds us all to be careful. Someone died there. It doesn't matter who. We won't/can't know who it was. So it is not about the person as such, but more about the human being / us, and how easy it is to stop 'being'. Anyway, when I ride past them I always catch myself thinking about my riding skills and pay even more attention.
-
I sort of thing they should be allowed to last for as long as naturally possible, until not just the flowers die and fade but the sellotape sticking them and the wrapping paper to the lamppost falls off. This is because as road users we need to be constantly minded of not just the danger, but the fact that someone actually did die at this place. The white bicycle idea was just brilliant.

(motorcycle cover) theft in East Dulwich
PeckhamRose replied to chillychap's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I would recommend disc locks. I'd also recommend you read the Road magazine (the magazine of the Motorcycle Action Group). You can access them on line. They often do tests of things like locks and the pros and cons. I also would recommend DATATAG and Datatagging your bike means if it is nicked, when found it can be identified as yours (like 'chipping the dog). It also means cheaper insurance in some quotes. PeckhamRose (who will ride in any weather except SNOW). -
Ha! You know that's not what I meant, you tease! Religious folk and their religious judges may believe they do. ???? Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > So you're a humanist but still implicitly think > that people with religion have a better chance of > recognising right from wrong? I dunno.

It's outrageous. It is absolutely immoral. (If anything he should be given a longer sentence because he should have known better having a God to tell him what is the difference between right and wrong!) Since for many religion is just a matter of believing in a third party or not, it should have no bearing on justice. Personally I do not think people who wear their religion on their sleeves should be allowed High Office. But Sean - your OTT reaction to SteveT's post is an example of what is becoming a tiresome sort of post from you these days. Why not just ignore it! The British Humanist Association has commented about this case here. (Am I still allowed even to reference them?)

Where is it? Is Dulwich Trader the actual name of a shop?

Looking for musicians with talent but no ambition
PeckhamRose replied to malcomio's topic in The Lounge
Now that's just not true, is it Huggers. I've seen you! -
If the police managed to close down the branch/cafe in Cheltenham Road by the same family I wonder why they can't shut the cafe you refer to in Peckham? Interesting!
-
Being repetitive, and annoying to some, isn't in itself a reason. And that's the point. One could always just ignore them. But no, one or two get uptight and irritated, so off they go. Such liberals! Glad you had fun.
-
The point of the Sig karter?? Well on another forum I frequent people are not quite so uptight and easily frustrated about them and we can do what we want. Many people use the space to advertise their companies or websites etc or whatever they want without folks/admin (who is one of 'us') getting uptight easily. It really doesn't matter to the folks on that forum. To my mind the point is that it is an opportunity to personalise your space, if you like. A sort of headed notepaper thing except instead of the name and address at the top, your website or something is underneath. Many of the sigs are imaginative and funny and some people change them regularly. They tell folks something about the writer other than the post they are posting at the time. Life is really too short to worry 'bout this sh!te. But some poor souls do. We'll survive. Heyyyy the sun came out today! Did anyone notice? Hope you all had a nice time last night.

Chatham Cafe on Cheltenham Road was closed down because they were selling drugs there. If you don't know the circumstances about the situation in this particular case, it's difficult to speculate. Sorry to be a bore but the Police Ward Panel for the Peckham Area may be able to tell you more when you go there. They meet every 2 months.

If you are buying a flat in a council block of flats I would recommend joining Leaseholders Association of Southwark. (I do not profit from saying this, but would add I am on the committee.)

I was not talking about my Humanist Funeral signature which was cut from my signature first with the rest left alone. I am now talking about the community spirited stuff such as links to blood donor site, Kings College Hospital site, writing a Will, etc. I make no money from that but it was deleted for me. (Having said that I don't make much money from the Humanist Funerals work and have never got a 'gig' from this site. I certainly could not afford the ?150 I was quoted for 3 months.) You write, "I think you believe you are fighting some noble fight but I don't see the masses rising up behind you, so it might be worth counting to ten". Could you sound more patronising? Can you read PMs? You certainly can't read my emails. I have been getting a lot of support, and I thank those who take the time to do so, for it.
-
Oh benevolent dictator Sir, what was the point of writing that and pointing us to that direction if we can't have signatures anymore? And since when were all of them 'silly'? I thought mine were useful and of a public service (accepting you don't want me to say I am a Humanist celebrant of course, which I am, but that was doctored out, and then the rest of my useful signature was cut along with everyone's.

Got a cheap one from Asda. Still going after one year! yayy! Such quality. Not very big though.

former East Dulwich councillor - how can I help?
PeckhamRose replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
But why is it always the managers having the performance bonus? Why can't social workers teachers or street cleaners? Or why do managers need performance bonuses at all? They're getting a bigger salary than the aforementioned aren't they? -
Dangerous dogs sold in pubs in London, and discussing the fact some have to be put down.
-
*yawns*. In other areas Admin would have stepped in and told folk to keep to the thread....
-
It's not advertising! It's suggesting people give blood and write a will.
-
I think one should have a dog license too, not necessarily a huge amount of money but maybe like owning a gun you have to apply to the local police or something. Ohhhhkkkkaayyyyy maybe not that bad! But you should certainly have to register somehow like licensees do to the local council. Maybe only for bruiser type dogs though. I don't know. But something has to change.
-
Don't bother reading this one but I can't delete it!
PeckhamRose replied to PeckhamRose's topic in The Lounge
Nope, not even ones reminding people to give blood and write a will. It's barking. -
ambition
-
Christ almighty what is so dangerous or unfavourable or unfair or unreasonable about reminding people to write a will and GIVE BLOOD! What is wrong with you! I don't just remind them I provide links so they can get to the relevant pages. It's a service! What's wrong with that! Now you're just being difficult.

53 year old. Breast cancer. I'm doing the funeral soon. Oh sorry(!) But I am promoting donor cards wills and giving blood and stuff. Which is still allowed, it would seem.
