  1. This is very sad and I hope no-one was badly hurt. Even the ones who were probably driving like C**ts
  2. I don't have a wife. And I would never lie to the one I loved! If I were you I would never do it again, that is, never be late again. And let HER go to the pub with HER friends while you stay home and bring up the kids and cook. Even if only for one day. (One day a week that is!)
  3. Last night I put a saucer of bread crumbs out on the scaffolding for the bluetits, busy feeding their chicks in the birdbox (see my story 8 messages above!) This morning, the bread had gone, the blue tits had done the fledgling thing, and I like to think the chicks tumbled out on to the scaffolding board, encouraged by mum they had my bread, then left as a thank you present tiny bits of baby blue tit poo on the board, before flying away. No "thank you" for housing them. Just poo. Cat can go back out now and is delighted.
  4. and did it bring forth tears (of joy?)
  5. GateCRASH
  6. And lots of glutton
  7. I do not exercise regularly and I really should, but it is what to do which is the question. I have crap lungs and a crap back so can't do much! I find exercising per se sooooooo boring no matter what I do or what I used to do. Cycling even is not an option! But a good walk is usually possible and we are lucky here in having so many parks and open spaces to walk in. Last week I went up Brenchley Gardens and One Tree Hill. Fabulous views too!
  8. Spangles.
  9. Well I'm brave, so if you see a woman carrying a motorcycle helmet, 5ft 8, early 20's, long thick blonde hair, and very slim, say hello to her, and tell her how much you admire her and love how she contributes to East Dulwich life. Then report back here what happened, because I don't look anything like that. I'm 5ft 4 and carrying a half face helmet with messy dyed blonde hair (every day's a bad hair day when you're a biker) and you can't tell how skinny or fat I am because it's all stuffed in a big motorcycle jacket!
  10. Just had notice of Visual Audits that a council officer Samuel Ofosuhene does, which we are invited to attend. Turn up at 9.50am for 10.00am start. You can discuss areas that need cleaning or mending or shifting or whatever. Please don't email ME, email HIM - [email protected] His number is 020 7525 0815 2nd June Peckham Rye SE15 junction Nunhead lane 7th July Linden Grove junction Nunhead lane 6th October Peckham Rye SE22 junction with East Dulwich Road 3rd November Nunhead Station The above are meeting points. Put them in your diaries, I shan't be reminding you!!
  11. My other tomb stone epitaph: "This Side Up" [written on the front of course] "This can double as kitchen table top: refer to Offered section in East Dulwich Forum, owner has gone away".
  12. I admire your intentions. Had you said what it was about - non fiction? Fiction? Subject? Self published? - you may have got orders on here!
  13. I live on the 3rd floor of a block of flats and a few years ago scaffolding went up so we dived out ourselves and attached a birdbox to our wall by the private balcony. We now have baby blue tits and we are timing how long it takes for Mum/Dad to fly from box to trees and back again with caterpillars or grubs. Shortest time 20 seconds, longest time 1 minute. Absolutely fascinating! BUT we are having scaffolding put up again on the whole block, and the scaffolders and contractors were great and made sure they were as quick as possible and they have promised they're not going to put the netting up till I have informed them the chicks have flown. Seriously! Isn't that nice! Meanwhile, poor cat can not understand why I won't let her out the balcony. She can dive around the scaffolding boards and it's comical to watch and hear the parent blue tits go crazy till she gets back. So she's banned. And now we have new scaffolding we're going to put several more birdboxes up! Life in the big city, eh!
  14. Got mine today, BNP, UKIP and Green Party, so fair dos. ALl in the recycling of course.
  15. I actually turned up to court once realising I had forgotten to bring my shoes. I changed from my motorcycle gear into my suit and walked into court with the bike boots on. The People Who Mattered did not see below my waist to notice, and everyone else just dared not say anything. I don't have a problem with black trainers and suits. They can look nice. White trainers and suits still smacks of Chav though.
  16. A similar thing happened to another poster last year - can't find the posting but it happened on Goose (!) Green.
  17. I told you not to waste money on a bloody tombstone. Why didn't you spend the money on me when I was alive you bastards. And why is it such a small tombstone so that the wor...
  18. Consumer Action Group. Look through the site and write the right template letters, according to the facts of your case.
  19. Thanks annaj - I made the connection through having chiropractic treatment to free a nerve and that worked perfectly. The ear infection idea was thus wrong and thanks for putting me right! And thanks Reg for starting this post too. Enlightening!
  20. Can I just ask, since there is a large African population in Peckham (I have referred to it as being Little Africa, just as Southall is Little India, and I feel perfectly comfortable with that description), just what do you mean by saying you are looking into, "how to attract the right sorts of business to the town centre". Right sorts of business means what exactly? For now, the existing shops and stalls seem to be selling exactly what the local population need. And there's an Iceland. People have survived without Woolworths. M&S would be nice, but wouldn't it be better to attract local non-chain retailers? Ooops, there's me dreaming again!
  21. Anyway, to be fair Southwark is revamping Elephant and Castle and to get back to topic, what do we think of the new plans?
  22. Peckhamgatecrasher Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Will the architect fall on his sword this time as > well? 1) Are you saying there's knife crime in Walworth? 2) And no, not this time, because this time it is not one architect to blame. It is all Committees nowadays, and as mentioned above the Council has made sure that The People are Consulted so it's their fault.
  23. Looks like SOuthwark Council made a massive architectural error in those days. My ex boyfriend's Mum lived in Portland Street in a back to back which was torn down also. BUT we have to look forward and you never know, they may not just get it right with these plans and high rises, but it could be a world leading architectural centre of excellence. (Which means everyone will learn from the mistakes THEY make!) I'm cautiously optimistic, I think. Long as we can still get to the bridges without being squeezed in to one lane to do so.
