  1. I particularly hate it when the texter is strolling across the road whilst doing it. But I love it when you see two people together yet separately texting or talking to others on their mobiles.
  2. I disagree, there won't be room for cyclists to do much overtaking when technically they only have one narrow lane, cars parked on one side and on-coming traffic on the other. This may be why I have seen more cyclists on the pavement and the park recently. And I don't mind either as long as they don't ride aggressively and expect you to move, which some teenagers do, and most adults do not. It's lovely having a smooth road to ride down! Enjoy it while it's there before the council put a stop to it!
  3. It's great to see the detail.
  4. Basically the road is now divided in to three. The park side is now all for parking. The other two lanes are driving / riding / cycling up or down. And there are pinch points up the road, which are now rather pointless since one lane is for parking. I think it must be much more dangerous for cyclists, but as a biker I am loving the smooth new road quality. It will mean that you can't bomb along it when caught behind the 343 or 484 but as someone mentioned about Barry Road, there's a khama element there when being made to slow down behind a bus!
  5. Oops, sorry I didn't make it smaller first! There'll be complaints about the use of the bandwidth...
  6. Here you are.
  7. They get financing from various sources but certainly Southwark Circle which is a part of Participle should be self financing soon if not already. What is you real concern, alice?
  8. KidKruger, yes, years ago at my Aunt's, and hence the use of the phrase Blue Highways tour - but it is out of print and I'd love my own copy. WomanOfDulwich, Thanks so much! We'll go there! AnnetteCurtain - no, we thought we'd go without.
  9. Thanks Applespider for this. Indeed we intend to do a blue highways / non freeways road trip. We did a road trip round USA without touching too many freeways, and hardly touched big towns, preferring to do small towns. But we deliberately left out the north east / New England area as we knew we would want to do this trip on a separate occasion. If you think of the place in Stowe, get back to me!
  10. steveo that is very funny. and PCG yes I was thinking LASSCO in Vauxhall. Maybe the're thinking of creating a double height space, or regular stairs with a Stannah Stair Lift or something, since I don't think Stannah could cope with a spiral staircase. I'd like to see them try though. Do you know, when my Great Aunt died Stannah wanted ?2,000 to take it out the house again (apparently).
  11. Fabulous! Thank you very much!
  12. Hi all We're planning to do a road trip around New England this Autumn. Has anyone done this? Particularly interested in ideas for specific areas, and motels / B&Bs if you can remember them. We're planning last week of September and first week of October, landing in Boston and hiring a car for 2 weeks. All advice, opinions and help gratefully received!
  13. There's a form you can get from the post office to complain about missing or wrong post. But I would recommend you contact the manager of the sorting office. Write to him (find out who it is first by going down there if you can and asking), then let him or her know of the problems so they can sort it out.
  14. Photo'd one on one of my birdfeeders today!
  15. The Fulham Palace Road is one big jam leading to it even when it is working properly, so don't go that way either. I'd agree with the above from right-clicking.
  16. Please note, I have amended my post above about the venue for the police ward panel meet Thursday 23rd at 7.00pm. It is now at Forst Hill Baptist Church, corner of Mundania Road and Forest Hill Road.
  17. RosieH you don't want home made chocs?
  18. Well you could all turn up to the Police Ward Panel next THURSDAY 23rd February 7pm FOREST HILL BAPTIST CHURCH corner of FOREST HILL ROAD and MUNDANIA Rd, and ask the police about it. All welcome.
  19. I absolutely loved Holly Burns act on Friday at Herne Hill Tavern with Pull The Other One. PAPA JOHN!
  20. I might be able to find time to make you some home made chocolate truffles. Ohhhhhhhh yes.
  21. Was he trying to get a train back up to Cumbria?
  22. Go on, shock the council folk, THANK THEM! They get enough stick for all the mistakes they make so let's make a change. Tell them what street or estate you are on and thank them for having gritted the streets in time. [email protected]
  23. Peckham Rye / East Dulwich, they're just words. If someone is going to commit a crime they're not going to think - "Here's an invisible line I must not cross because no-one cares about a place with the word Peckham in it". Enjoy the area. The park is fabulous and in a way you're in the middle of a lot of useful areas. Two stations, loads of bus routes, a fabulous park, great shopping streets, Rye Lane and Lordship Lane depending on what you want AND another fabulous little shopping street Evelina Road in Nunhead (Sopers and Ayres for example), the best doctors anywhere, being Nunhead Grove which is near you. But don't just live there, join the community and be part of it. The Peckham Society, The local community council, the police ward panel for your area, and others things. Be happy and hope you enjoy it there/here!
  24. I highly recommend Giles Smith Lost In Music And so do lots of people on this Amazon website!
  25. You're looking at it from the wrong angle. You need a device which fits into people's shoes which can detect the smell of dog shit at ground level, so another way of dealing with it is using a tube stuck up someone's nostril which drops down and bends forward about 12 inches so they can smell at floor level. I claim my ?10,000. The rule doesn't state a prototype need be made.
