  1. I second the above ideas, and if you are taking her in a car and you are a confident driver and she is not a nervous passenger, do Hardknott Pass and the other one further north which is less extreme.
  2. I disagree about prison, too many there already and I don't think non violent criminals should be imprisoned. IF the state finds him guilty, he should pay it all back and then some, and then be banned from working in football ever again. If he is found Not Guilty, well that's British Justice.
  3. Thanks. But I'm fine. I have very cheap 1.25 glasses in every room and on the bike. And I can't afford fancy stuff and optician says soft lenses are not for me.
  4. I am selling my Lateral Thigh Trainer and power cords and instruction book and DVD for ?20. It's fun, but I can't be arsed. I should post this post in the For Sale section. But, since you're asking.... I am also selling on a mini trampet one diameter wide for ?12 if you want it. Too big for my little living room!
  5. I was told that the answer is yes, you will need glasses as you get older, just as I need to wear reading glasses at +1.25 on top of my +10.75 hard contact lenses. If I were to have laser eye surgery they would have to put a lens IN my eyes, and I would have to win the lottery first to be able to afford it!!
  6. Absolutely. Big holes in roads, cycle friendly speed humps blocked by parked vehicles, and constantly having to take one's eyes off the road to read the many signs, does not make for sensible safe cycling or riding as recommended by advanced road use groups. Mr PR doesn't need cycle lanes and special attention, he just reads the map to work out how to get from A to B and if a particular route looks inappropriate for some reason he'll experiment on side roads. A big picture of a bicycle in a road does not make it a cycle safe lane.
  7. How does London become a predominantly cycling city? What about those folk - older or those whose health predisposes them against cycling, etc etc, who simply will never be a cyclist? If people want to and can, they will. You can lead a person to a cycle, you can't make them use it!
  8. Maybe folks who are complaining about the DMC could call the above numbers for advice as to where to complain more officially.
  9. There is no longer a PCT in Southwark, but you can get more information from the Patients Forum or Practice Manager of your surgery. Notices should at least be in the waiting room, and patients forums are held at different times of day to attract different people. I know I am lucky I am a patient of Nunhead grove, but their catchment area does include some of SE22 so do ask. They are brilliant when it comes to same day appts and they will have you speak ith a doctor on the phone first to decide how best to proceed (to cut down on people who see a doctor the same day when they did not NEED to!) I second the above points about complaining about surgeries who behave unreasonably. Rose x
  10. Who knows what any of us are capable of. At any time. On or off medication!
  11. I also received consultation papers and voted no. I would love to see the stats to see if they are going in because more people voted yes, than no, but I can't be arsed to file a FOI request!
  12. After about 3 months I do delete all my photos from the site, does this help or do they stay on the server still for you to empty?
  13. No he ain't he's from Stockwell. Meanwhile I'm seeing Prokofiev's Lt Kije tonight and hope to have strong images of the horn player.
  14. All our bins and big bins were emptied yesterday. It may have something to do with the big brand new state of the art facility at Old Kent Road, and needing to retime things. But everything's gone from around where I live. In future though if any of you have issues re this or other council environment problems email [email protected] or call 020 7525 2000 but I can't remember which option you have to press so work it out!
  15. Meanwhile it looks like another 'pinch' point is being built further up the same road, and at the moment traffic lights are being used whilst it is being built. Looks like only one vehicle at most will be able to get through when it is done, but I may be wrong here. Either way, if it is like the one being talked above where the pavement is being widened at a point that means there is less room for cyclists and bikers to safely go through without being hit by cars. However, we'll see.
  16. What's a really good speed camera?
  17. I shall be working but would like to be included in a list for minutes to be sent, and would ask you send copies of minutes in to this forum. But if you can't / won't do this I shall also PM you with my email address so you can email me minutes personally. Will Jon Best Ecology Officer be there?
  18. By the way, Humanism is nothing more to my mind than being a conscientious atheist. No more, no less. The BHA to my mind is a political lobbying group.
  19. Well see above and PM me and say where you are and I'll contact my mate!
  20. Please note, however, that unlike Wales and Scotland, if you are having a Humanist Wedding ceremony in England it is not a legal marriage ceremony in itself. You still have to go to the Registry Office for the legal documentation afterwards (or before).
  21. I am a Humanist Celebrant but I only do funerals. PM me for details and I'd be happy to recommend weddings and baby naming celebrants.
  22. Postingof the week e-dealer but I bet it will also be on red tops tomorrow!
  23. She emailed and told me she used to be a motorcyclist but now motorcycles scared her and she would vote against us being allowed to ride in bus lanes. Indeed, no scientific or logical thinking ability, no clarity of thought or reasoning. No make up(!) And she gets a 343 bus from just off Southampton Way, to City Hall. Hypocrite, she should be cycling. Then I would give her a reason to be scared.
  24. How malformed? A fox that had been in a fight and come second? Or something else that looked like a fox? Why was this scary?
  25. Hey Hal, nope, I am on medication which requires regular testing of my liver and kidney functions. So far so good! HAL9000 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > PeckhamRose - have you been moonlighting as a > secret shopper or what? > > :)
