That's a real shame. Have had many happy times in Le Chardon. Now being replaced by something nobody really wants.

I'd be very happy to see this changed. ianr Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > > Exactly. I genuinely think they should be > banned. And of course they can't open it until it's repaired but ?17k is nothing. -
Almost certainly.

For all the good it will do, I've emailed Southwark on the address within the link sally buying posted above. The ongoing closure of the bridge has turned the adjacent roads into a nightmare at times. They have to reopen it to cars (but keep the restriction on HGVs. -
Snide ring.

Exactly. I genuinely think they should be banned. Surely it's not right to be allowed to stick up an advertising hoarding wherever you want.

Definitely bad luck because it was the best in the area, consistently, over several years until it closed recently. Te guy who ran it was never testy in the dozens of times I went there. I gather the previous owner retired. dbboy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Any idea why The Flying Fish became Fladda? Was it > sold?

What Red Devil and Loz said. I'm not a royalist either but they're of significant value in their own way, as a tourist draw and as PR for the country. Our politicians have made us an international joke, so no reason to add another layer of them by becoming a republic.

What Sue and rahrahrah said. It's an interesting encapsulation of racism and misogyny. I'm no great defender of Abbot but the lack of self awareness displayed by many here is staggering.

I don't believe the odd use of a fire pit has much of an effect. rendelharris Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > edcam Wrote: > -------------------------------------------------- > ----- > > Ditto. What a bunch of sad moaners. > > Yeah, down with clean air! Saddoes.

These things are so ugly. There are many higher priorities.

Ditto. What a bunch of sad moaners.
-
Maybe they're looking to arrest someone for putting up those bloody annoying estate agent signs advertising their school fair.

Looking forward to trying Fladda, the new one in Camberwell, which has replaced the Flying Fish. That will be a hard act to follow, as they were by far the best in the area and have been much missed. Not quite the weather for fish and chips right now though!

Well yes, the tories are fundamentally dishonest but have also cocked up in innumerable ways since Cameron called the referendum. I don't remember ever seeing a government realising how unpopular they are before our very eyes in this way. They are aware that if another GE was called today, they'd be out, so anything they can do to not make waves at the moment is the only way they'll stay in power and even then, their days are numbered.

To the man that asked my 6 year old to cycle on the road

This is exactly how it should work. If everyone did this, there wouldn't be a problem. jimbo1964 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > When my son was little he'd ride on the pavement > down to the park while I rode on the road. The other way of looking at it is that she may well (as any sensible politician would) believe that Brexit is a disaster in writing but she's so unprincipled and desperate to cling to power that her principles have fallen by the wayside. She isn't obliged to do a deal with these horrors and it will be her downfall. miga Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I feel very sorry for May, on a personal level. > This (being PM) is something she's been working > towards most of her adult life, and by most > standards, she is a remarkable person.
