Silly question, but I wonder if,with all that spare time on their hands,they could have done a bit of mining when they were stuck down there?It certainly would have filled the time and probably earned them a nice commission.

Yes this particular mine had a very poor safety record. It paid it's miners more money which is why many of those miners who were trapped opted to work there.

They're out too,though I thought it was kinda sad that the giant screen and stuff was switched off whilst they were being brought up and everyone started going home. They were very brave men going down there.

Wierdly the number 33 is really significant in this whole drama. There were 33 miners trapped. They were first located on august 22nd, which is the 33rd week of the year. The rescue shaft was finally completed 33 days after they started drilling. And today, the day of rescue, is 13/10/10. Add those numbers up and you get.....

I tend to overlook that and just think of what those men have been through. The first 17 days they were alone in the darkness not even knowing if they would be found. My god what must that have been like?
