With a Wetherspoons in Forest Hill and one at the Fox on the Hill 10 min walk from ED. can't see the need for another one. I have been a CAMRA member for 30+ years but due to decline of decent ale in E.D over past years sadly have resorted to drinking mostly lager. I'm ashamed to say... ...However things have improved greatly in recent years and I feel the need to re-educate myself.. Not a fan of so called craft beers. There seems to be a trend towards who can produce the strongest ales and I prefer to drink quantity and Ales at 12% is not for me.. Getting ridiculous .... Some Old Favourites :- Hook Norton, Shepherd Neame, Brain's, Adnams, Brakspear, Everards, Marstons, Theakstons, Thwaites, Jennings.. DulwichFox

The main problem with people in this country (including Politicians) is that we are still talking about the 2015 Election and will continue to do so until 6 weeks before the 2020 Election. Just like in Football we seem to enjoy a good post mortem. Ok, it might be of some benefit to analyse where things have gone wrong , but not so to dwell on it for ever. If you fall off your bike get straight back on it. That way you won't feel the pain. Foxy

I like a decent pint of Guiness but it seems all pubs now serve just the Ice Cold stuff. An Irish friend/neighbour has told be the original Guiness is no longer available.. ? Is that right ? Surely not ? Foxy

The Power cuts in the 70's were scheduled. I was working in the city repairing phones, so I was going from building to building using lifts. To prevent people getting stuck in lifts the power would be cut for about 30 seconds and then reinstated so that people knew an all out power cut was about to happen and get out of the lifts and not use them till power was restored. DulwichFox replied to Michael Palaeologus's topic in The Lounge
Nice meal at The Surma last night.. Food and service was very good.. Small turn out due to personal commitments.. ( 6 ) Gents all got a complimentary brandy and the Ladies a Baileys .. Much to the disgust of Mrs BrandNewGuy :) Then we had a power cut.. Big thanks to Michael P. for organising and The Surma. Foxy. -

sharing shop - room for one in ED?
DulwichFox replied to bawdy-nan's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I suspect that retail outlets are more easily available in Frome than in East Dulwich. The forum has always been a great place to find things to hire from other EDF users. Usually for free. Small shop/ premises on Lordship Lane so I'm told rent out at between 30-40k p.a. It simply would not be feasible to rent out 'Domestic' appliances and the like. Even Hire Shops providing heavy duty equipment and building plant tools have struggled and most of the smaller ones have all but disappeared. Why waste money on Rent, Rates, Insurance and the like when we have the EDF. DulwichFox -

I wasn't suggesting it was news.. It was just an interesting program. Probably why it was given the Prime TV slot of 09.00 - 10.00 pm Jeese .. some folk will want to make a argument about just about anything. Sorry I brought it your attention. It crossed my mind when people are discussing East Dulwich prices and not wanting to hi-jack another thread thought I would start a new one. DulwichFox

Did anyone watch the Channel 4 Program ...Worlds Most Expensive Food The Program highlighted the life style of the Super Rich.. Billionaires ?325 for a cup of cat poo coffee and ?24,000 for a tin of caviar ?5,000 for a shot of rare cognac. .. about providing food on Private Jets.. Cost to provide a Airline meal.. ?1.00 - ?2.00 First Class... ?4.00 - ?10.00 Private Jet just to provide ?200.00 + Billionaires are paying ?60m for private jets and expect to be able to eat ANYTHING they ask for. Was a real eye opener. 10 times + the cost of the Worlds top Michelin Star Restaurants http://www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/worlds-most-expensive-food-325-5691814

I believe that economic recovery is not yet achievable. The Tories being the Governing Party will therefore bear the burden as things are likely to get worse. Unless they have a magic wand and turn things around, they will be unelectable in 2020. Labour need to take some careful decisions about there future policies and who they represent. DulwichFox

If you use the above link it explains about Bogus Caller Advice .. Secure Link:- https://www.thameswater.co.uk/help-and-advice/638.htm Registering with our doorstep password scheme You can identify a genuine caller, as: They carry an identity card and automatically show it to you. They will quote your personal password. Do not prompt or remind the caller of the password. They often wear a uniform with the company's sign or logo. Their car or van may show the company logo. Summer events - why Goose Green?

If the stage was set up at the top end of GG. Grove vale end then that would sort out the problem. Then people could get their food and walk up to watch the bands . DulwichFox -

I would say it is unusual. I have seen a team that comes Round and they take samples from the Street. They have lots of bottles And testing kit. You could call TW to check. Dulwichfox -

It happens a lot.. At the moment I have a car user that continues to park just 9 inches away from my car. On a couple occasions there has been a second vehicle parked similarly the other side of me. I would not of been able to get out if I had needed to of done. To make it worse there is one of those speed 'Cushions' right outside my house where I park Which means you have to give it a bit of wellie to clear the hump and as the car rises over it you cannot judge just how close you are to the other vehicles. Fortunately I do not use my car that much except in real need. Just as well. Foxy
