  1. Well there is usually a 'bod' with a machine blowing the leaves all over the place.. Perhaps they need a machine with 'Suck Mode' Just a thought. DulwichFox
  2. I've always used Train Station. Like Victoria Coach. Victoria Train Station. Not Victoria Railway Station. Railway / Railroad would seem more an Americanism They had the Wagon Trains and then the Railroad Trains. Who Knows.. ? Foxy

  6. I believe in The Line. Well there are infinite Lines.. It's like if you are scared of spiders. Then there is a line for that. All lines start from a central point. The further down the Line the worst your fear gets. All that a Psychiatrist does is take you back along one side of the Line and brings you back up the other side. So you are no longer scared of spiders. There is a line for everything .. If you believe in the Line too then it exists.. If you do not believe in the Line, it still exists. It's just that you are on the other side of the LINE. DulwichFox
  7. Peckhamgatecrasher Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > But marshmallows did originate from the mallow > plant, though whether they grew in marshes, I have > no idea. That is True:- Althaea officinalis (marshmallow, marsh mallow, or common marshmallow) is a perennial species indigenous to Africa, which is used as a medicinal plant and ornamental plant. A confection made from the root since ancient Egyptian time evolved into today's marshmallow treat. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Althaea_officinalis Marshmallow is a sugar candy that, in its modern form, typically consists of sugar, whipped to a spongy consistency, molded into small cylindrical pieces, and coated with corn starch. Some marshmallow recipes call for eggs. This confection is the modern version of a medicinal confection made from Althaea officinalis, the marshmallow plant.[1] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marshmallow DulwichFox
  8. Really need to have a hole in the bottom of the mugs for drainage and then grow herbs. Foxy
  9. Down on Lordship lane They are queuing up again. Trying to buy pizzas And standing in the rain. Blocking up the pavement And letting no one through. And they have an hour to wait They're nineteenth in the queue. The favourite it is Sourdough Cos Sourdough is the best And queuing up in the rain Just like all the rest. Finally they get in And try and find a seat Cos eating Pizza is no fun When standing on your feet. Anon
  10. Jeremy 'Vile' is a self righteous nasty piece of work. Since his American series he now has his hair parted on the left in a vague attempt at looking suave... He knows very little about anything. An ignorant arrogant excuse for a man. 'Irrational Rage thread' candidate . He would never walk into a pub and talk to someone like the way he does on TV. "Sit up straight, Shut up. I'm not even out off first gear yet" My blood boils.. Dulwichfox
  11. Yes the petrol one is interesting.. I had a shop at 13 Uplands road back in 1993.. A guy came in and asked for 20/50 Motor Oil I had some Motor Oil for sale at ?4.99 per gallon.. He said he would not put that crap in his car.. and would I be getting any more in. Yes I said. come back tomorrow. I increased the price to ?6.99. He came back and bought 4 cans. It was the same oil. You see nothing has changed. I simply did not have what it takes to rip people off. DulwichFox
  12. Jeremy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Yes. It's not the same product. I've just sampled it and it is good. As good as some others and better than Ayres. And cheaper. and I have tried many sourdoughs and made my own from my home made Rye Sourdough Starter. The problem is that people seem to believe that if some thing is twice the price it must be better. Especially if they feel they can afford to eat something that's off limits to others... Would they feel happy about paying extra / double for their petrol. Would it make their cars run better. ?? DulwichFox
  13. Just been to Waitrose in John Lewis at Bluewater.. 518gm Hand Crafted Sourdough ?1.99 So why ?4.00 in East Dulwich. ?? Because they know there are those in ED that will pay ?4.00. If everyone said get stuffed is would be ?1.99. Simples DulwichFox
  14. Bread ?4.00 Beer ?4.00 Anything else ?? DulwichFox
  15. I went out to get some money from the cash point.. Forgot to go to the cash point. DulwichFox
  16. Generally most Craft Breads devoid of Preservatives will stay 'fresh' if kept in correct conditions for 2-3 days. Bread has to have preservatives to last 6-7 days. Preservatives will spoil the taste of bread. So it is the balance between Taste and Longevity. DulwichFox
  17. Generally I don't like / eat much Cheese. A cheese I do like is Cambozola. Its a popular cheese available in most supermarkets. The Cheese Block doe not stock it.. DulwichFox
  18. As my diet restricts High GI foodstuffs. Bread is unfortunately on that list. Sourdoughs are better and Lower GI. As are Whole Grain. (Not Wholemeal) Unfortunately a whole loaf would last me 4-5 days. Most craft breads are usually stale the day after purchase. So at ?4.00 a time not financially viable for me. I use Euphorium Bakery at Tesco Surrey Quays Large Sourdough @ ?2.90 which I think is a reasonable price to pay. Even though there is some waste. But generally I only go there once a week. So will depend what price this new outlet charges.. DulwichFox
  19. Louisa... Totally agree.. I've never actually written anything Negative about any place I've eaten in. I belong to the Curry Club and we go to a diff Rest each month. We do give feedback if food was good or if we felt a bit disappointed. But as it has been going for 8 ? years the group(and anyone is welcome to come along) has been to all the Indian rests. on numerous occasions. So good nights and not so good nights. I expressed my doubts over the Patch. I did not think their business plan could ever work. Others slagged off other outlets that could no longer be mentioned. I never did. I said Pizza was overrated and jokingly suggested it was just cheese on toast. I also said I thought Franco Manca was the best make over of any ED. business. I added I thought their pricing was fair.. and I was sure they would do well. All Positive comments ignored... Can't win. Foxy
  20. Funny.. I read the title as Round pastry mince pies and then got confused... (not difficult) lol I do like mince pies but being someone who has apparently reversed type-2 diabetes I still have to be careful even though I now eat almost everything. and have normal blood sugar. I prefer savoury foods. Used to have a really sweet tooth.. 4 sugars in my tea. Doughnuts. Portuguese custard tarts.. mmmhh. Foxy

I've never clamoured for any eatery.. I've never clamoured for any other outlet.. I've given my support to many outlets over the years and have credited them on EDF (The Positive stuff that Selective Readers never mention when having a pop.) Iceland, Dulwich DIY, Shauns DIY, Dulwich Tandoori, Jaflong , Mirash, Curry Cabin, Hisar, Kebab and wine, Clippers, John Alan, Locale(now gone),EDT, Hirsts Bakery, SMBS. So let's ditch all the DulwichFox negativity crap once and for all.. DulwichFox

They have the fantastic opportunity to sell up, buy a lovely place out of London and bank a heap of cash. I have no need to sell up. If I wanted to live outside of London I would buy something and rent out my house. Currently ?2,200 pcm. But I am going nowhere. I hate the countryside. DulwichFox
  24. just_browsing Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Or is it because of this very close proximity that > anyone who wants these restaurants knows that > there are plenty of options either a walk or a > short bus ride away? If your argument holds any water, why then have a Franco Manca here in ED when there is one in Brixton. and this is the point I try to make constantly. I rest my case. DulwicgFox
  25. It amazes me that with our close proximity to Peckham and Brixton there are no African / Caribbean restaurants in East Dulwich. There is seemingly no request from EDF users for such a restaurant. Why is that. ? White middle class nimby's DulwichFox
