    Caravan

Is it legal to park a towing caravan in the street? (one now outside our house). If it is, why don't all caravan owners do it? If not, who do I complain to ?
  2. On a parallel issue, there' a designated Car Club parking space on Crawthew Grove, near Lordship Lane. I believe the Car Club is no more. If so, can we get that removed?
  3. What about the back fence separating property? Ours fringes three other properties.
  4. OK. I am very old and can remember when receptionists had a book or diary where they could see empty slots and would book you in accordingly. This didn't seem a very difficult process, and worked, as far as I can tell, far better than it does now
  5. We've changed practices after 30 years at FHR as it seems wrong that the only way to get an appointment was to walk there (no-one ever answers the phone). The receptionist at Crystal palace Rd was a joy to talk to after the ones at Forest Hill Rd.
  6. I got done there last summer. How long does one have to appeal or am I out of luck because I paid up then?

    Dustbin men

Your experience of uninvited guests in your garden has obviously been more positive than mine. It's all a bit of a waste of time and money, isn't it? They only inspect the top layer. I could be the Dulwich Ripper and fill the bin with body parts as long as I put paper and bottles on the top. Unless, as I said earlier, they're going to make money from the fines.

    Dustbin men

OK, thanks. So what's the legal position of all this. Can they come into our gardens? Is the rubbish in the bin ours or Southwarks? If the rubbish is ours, then until collection we can put what we like in it. Personaly, I don't like people wandering into my garden unannounced.

    Dustbin men

Twice this last week I've seen dustbin men wearing official Veolia jackets in people's front gardens looking in their bins. Any ideas why? And are they entitled to come into private gardens? Southwark going to start fining people for the wrong sort of rubbish?
  10. There used to be a second hand furniture shop in Brockley, on the corner of Avignon Rd. it had been re-developed.Does anyone know if it's gone elsewhere? It was the best in the area. A good mix of cheap and nice stuff. Or can anyone recomend a similar place?
  11. So, if I understand it correctly, the lane area is part of the site. But there must be access allowed to the builder's centre. Is it a right of way? Or a flying access only? If it only allows access then we can't park or wait I agree that it seems normal enough to use it as a pick up point as spider69 says but unfortunately normal and legal aren't necessarily the same. Talking of access, when can we turn into the side road by Denmark Hill Station. That piece of wood and fence seem to have no real purpose apart from causing trouble on the main road as cars do illegal turns there when dropping off train passengers.
  12. They've only just spent all that money on Denmark Hill It's going to make all these stations feel very secure for passengers!
  13. I agree with Ratty. Don't give a narcissist ?40 million pounds.
  14. I wish someone would move the blue camper van in Worlingham Rd that's been unmoved since last summer. I know it's legal, but it's still a pain
  15. Fat Boy's been murdered, too. A laugh a minute
  16. I dcn't see why traffic coming along the main road should be held up so much for cars leaving Sainsburys. When it was first opened Dog Kennel Hill traffic was given clear priority, now the time length seems about even. As usual big business gets their own way.
  17. OK,given that it's closed, where's the best local fish and chips?
  18. Greenwich has fined people for parking on a single yellow line on Sundays for years now. I used to go to the Sunday antiques market and you would see lines of cars with penalty notices.
  19. OK, everybody accusing me of fare dodging. Have got a freedom pass. So there!
  20. No one staffing East Dulwich this afternoon so went to Denmark Hill. Ticket office closed there and ticket machine out of order. (Question- how do people actually buy tickets?) Had to go to Victoria just to speak to a human being.
  21. OK. I suppose the reason is that we'd all like a day off, if there's been building work nearby. And in ED, where isn't there building work? It can really get on one's nerves after 5 days of it. I speak from experience. And builders need a day off too. Rushed jobs + tiredness = accidents
  22. Ah. Thanks Red Devil and Otta As to why they shouldn't, I would have thought the answer, in a very crowded area, was fairly obvious
  23. Does anyone know the rules for commercial builders operating hours? I had it in mind that they weren't supposed to work on a Sunday, but I had a faceful/eyeful of dust from a house on North X Rd that was having it's brickwork cleaned yesterday. Don't suppose the neighbours were that happy
  24. I felt very sorry for the people trying to sell their house next door to the very scruffy one on Frogley Rd. Living in a community does imply some sort of tolerance of community mores. Or we cold all live in vans
