  1. Could be cat or dog fleas. They would go and live in your carpet after the basket came in. If it'd any comfort, they will die away eventually if you haven't got a cat or dog. Perhaps you'rs unusually sensitive to them
  2. I thought the response had some bearing on the problem Obviously I am wrong
  3. Did you actually see how many vehicles and officers were involved?
  4. It was ludicrously over done. I thought it must be a major incident. We pay the police wages, and they keep on how little money they have. O'm not surprised if they need every policeman in SE London to deal with one incident
  5. Didn't recognise any of the staff there, and the woman I dealt with was indifferent to the point of rudeness
  6. Contact your previous landlord?
  7. No dusters in sight for my bloke
  8. A man knocked on my door this morning saying something about he was unemployed and would I give him some money. A bit disconcerting if you're by yourself
  9. Just returned from Sainsburys and noticed they now sell a magazine called "Rifle shooting". I was amazed and angered by this. Is the slaughter of wildlife something the company wants to project as their image? Are guns something they should be promoting? Are they going to be selling guns in the near future? Roll on M&S food store
  10. This a really stupid and short sighted decision. One of the most short sighted and stupid decisions for a long time.I realise that it costs them Council money, but do they honestly not think that people won't just dump stuff in the street? Some people already do, even with a collection service, and this will just make the situation a great deal worse What will happen to fly tipping? Will the council come and clear that up or are we supposed to live in streets along with the old mattresses , broken furniture and strange yellow bottles?
  11. What about the local studies library (John Harvard)?
  12. Yes, you can get there by bus, as Jennys recommends, but you lose the will to live after what seems like hours. The 484 just wanders about
  13. I don't think his dad was a carpenter, Jeremy was brought up in a manor house and went to private school. I suppose some carpenters earn good money.....
  14. It would probably be cheaper to take things to the tip in a taxi, at that rate Of course there will be more fly-tipping
  15. I've always had a very good service from them when collecting stuff. The wooden frame might disappear from your garden anyway, as so many people look for wood for their stoves
  16. What's going on here just before traffic lights? Some new "improvement"? Traffic this morning backed up all through Nunhead. Doing a great job for air pollution, stress levels, and just people's need to get somewhere on time
  17. Seems to have gone wrong again. Bus waiting at red light yesterday and traffic queuing at red light with no bus in sight this morning
  18. Mail left on porch again, so complained at Sylvestor Rd
  19. Today's post just left in porch. Identity fraudsters, look no further!
  20. Charity shops must be seriously affecting retail trade. Went to Eastbourne recently (I know how to live)and started to count the charity shops. Gave up when I reached 25. Bit like the restaurant situation on Lordship Lane..... Lynne
  21. They were asking ?290 for a "vintage" mirror that was obviously new, which is probably against various trading laws.. ?290 would have been very expensive even if t was old. Still, if someone was daft enough to part with their money......
  22. Be careful of the sprays.First time i used one, the spray bounced back into my face and my lips swelled up and broke out in blisters (yes, I know, yuck) but it shows how toxic they are.
  23. Ours is often left on the outer porch for anyone to help themselves to. Hadn't occurred to me to ccmplain, perhaps I should add my voice to yours.
  24. Can I add the woman in a new mini who's just (8.45 Friday turned into Worlingham Rd driving with a cup of coffee in one hand and texting with the other. Sometimes words don't seem adequate.
  25. Don't forget to take ID if you're going to the council dump
