I mistakenly called the fire brigade out because the neighbors had such a large bonfire I really believed the smoke was coming from inside their house To this day I can never see a fire engine without squirming with embarrassment.
Are we the only one's who didn't know that you needed to take ID when you went to dump household rubbish? Just been turned away because we didn't have any on us .Not too politely, either.
The large sticker has worked in the past outside our school. It also gives an idea of when the vehicle is moved. If the sticker's still there, the vehicle can't have moved.
Thanks everyone The balance of opinion seems against them. Being firmly of the "if it isn't broke etc etc school of thought, I'll ignore EDF's blandishments
I see the pet shop on North X Rd.is for sale. Another useful shop going. Perhaps we could have a coffee bar or an estate agents there. It must be yards to the nearest
All our callers seem to be genuine, just a nuisance. Unicef came twice in the same day this week. And as you say, evening calls after dark aren't a good idea.
Here in Sarf London it would have been the Richardsons, not the Krays. For anyone too young to remember them (I.e. anyone in East Dulwich) they were an enterprising pair of businessmen from Camberwell. Known for their hands on approach to community affairs.
In Sainsburys there are half coconuts in the pet food section priced ?2.00. In the human food section the coconuts are 80p for a whole one. Bird feeders take notice
Skips hi. I wondered if anythinbg can be done about the profliferation of skips and builders materials left for weeks on the roads. Parking is bad enough without some builders apparently using the road as an extension of their working premises. Not to mention slippery pavements with concrete etc on them. Also when the skips are removed there's usually a lot of rubbish left behind which is an obvious eyesore (our road was aweful yesterday with rubbish blown about) and causes a lot of extra work for your road cleaners. Some sort of tax/time limit/fines for leaving rubbish behind?
Hi. Have a look at the section about the second-hand furniture shop on Upland Rd and give it a thought about whether the trading standards people would be interested. I'd be glad of your opinion
