Dulwich Estate - fit to run conservation?

YEP It is important the mistakes of previous applications are used to show this application does not fit the plot. It is important the Duwlich Estate is not be given preferential treatment by Southwark planning department. The only problem would be the planning inspectorate who may be biased in some way ? Who knows who the Dulwich Estate have in their back pocket previous cronies of the local Private school system funded by the Dulwich Estate I guess.. All corrupt chinless wonders. etc .. Judges etc.. Biased powerful people. Main thing is to focus all efforts on the true issues those which are a valid planning arguments.! That's why objectors should go back to what was there and focus on the LARGE scale of the application vs neighbouring plots. The Estate are blatantly taking the pi$$ so they can grind everyone down and still get an oversized development on the site... Keep focused on what was there before the SG Smith Prefab Garage.! Southwark conservation should be refusing to allow this development. -
Dulwich Estate - fit to run conservation?

The best way to deal with this huge OVERDEVELOPMENT is to use what was originally on this site (ie prior to the bomb damage the horrid SG Smith prefab Garage) as a yardstick to the overall size of any future development. http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/file.php?5,file=182859 This is the line of attack we must use against this monstrosity of a proposal. A refusal from Southwark Conservation given the hundreds of objections is what we should expect.! There is no way the proposed development meets the requirement of this site, it is blatantly over sized above ground, the scale of any development should represent what was originally built on that site around the turn of the century. So the current application SHOULD be refused and it be dealt with by The Planning Inspectorate. Unless Southwark Planning fail to do their job, they have been cr?p before! Attached is a clear image of what was originally on this site and it shows the scale of what should be built there today! Compare that to the proposal! Fwiw what happens below ground is of little interest to planners so that is not a worthwhile argument! Above ground Southwark Planning must do their job and reign in such over development and allow designs which are in keeping with the surrounding buildings. This application is neither! We should look at the planning error 2A COURT LANE and the resulting two houses they are too large and too tall for the site they occupy, dwarfing the neighbouring homes, their bland design clashes with neighbouring properties and adds zero architectural quality. A disgrace! The SG Smith development would be an even bigger eyesore !! IT IS TOTALLY OVERSIZED !!!! And NOT in keeping with the Conservation area.! -

Ah yes indistinguishable champagne socialists .. :) Maybe I was thinking Harriet Harman ? SAME SAME.... pretending to be about the poor and working people when it's all about lining their own pockets. Dulwich Estate Staff etc "CHARITY" just a .... Different song. All ultimately crooks who only care about themselves.! -

It's down to Southwark Conservation Planning Department and The Old Grunters at the Dulwich Estate so as it's a DE application they are hardly likely to vote against their own plans. What amazes me it the UTTER SH?TE they allow see the two prison camp style lookout boxes on Court Lane although they don't look as nice a proper pill boxes see attachments which actually have more quality about them that the ones the Dulwich Estate likes. . Shocking !!! But true ... At least the Germans rendered theirs the Dulwich Estate just allow cheap brick finish and to add some variation they are different brick colours. Laughable fools spoiling the Village thinking it's "moderrrrrn" .. :( -

Well I imagine anyone living > in social housing would be forced to enter the > village via underground tunnels so as not to > offend the residents. ??? I believe most of Decker Rd remains as social type housing right in he heart of the village. :) I wonder is it still fact that most social housing isn't a "need" to many existing occupants IE many earn enough to move into the regular rental market and give up space for those who do NEED social housing. But then the State and our TAX money is needed to support the UK housing market and keep rents high together with restricting planning and development where there is space and need. Vs' this development which is shoehorned onto a small site, for the benefit of the Dulwich estate to contribute to the millionaires who send their children to Alleynes etc BONKERS world ... And Cr?P architecture ,, reign supreme.. -

HERE HERE we need more people like this in the Dulwich VILLAGE, poor "starving" social housing lot "see attached ;)". The only problem is getting the existing champagne socialists living in their multi million village homes "Think Tessa Jowell" to agree to it .. lol -

Great if the stocks can be used to change the design .. but in reality this garbage will be built regardsless of the location of the plaque. The problem is the design totally awful simplistic drab brick finish complete CR"P. Go look at the two new houses on Court Lane if any proof were needed that this style of development simply doesn't work next to Victorian and Edwardian houses. Utter garbage totally out of keeping looks dated even by toddler doodle standards. These people need to go to spec savers ... as their average age is probably 80 it's hardly surprising they have agreed to this Shi?t! Bunch of complete morons. -

Let's be clear I am not mad I have not suddenly started noticing a noise that was "always" there. Today there has been zero aircraft noise. Which is exactly as it was prior to 2011 when aircraft flew into Heathrow over the Thames. Prior to 2011 I would wake up to the sound of birds singing and turn to my GF and say "we are so lucky to live here it's so lovely and quiet". Then sometime after 2011 little by little day by day week by week the aircraft noise increased to the point where now there is little bird song, mostly Airbus A320 engine whistle with increased rumble & drone of every type of aircraft that passes overhead toward Heathrow .. every 2 to 3 minutes starting at 5.30 am. Sorry if I'm rambling, this is what I have heard with my ears and my experienced in the same room in the same property in the same road for over 25 years. Casual readers and newcomers to this topic If you are considering moving to ED and want to know the truth .... about aircraft noise . The truth is we have aircraft noise blasting overhead into Heathrow most days it starts at 5.30 am. If you don't want that in your life buy further north Bermondsey East London etc .... or further south though you may have problems from flights into Gatwick. We are totally blighted by the constant sound of jet aircraft. Apparently some locals don't hear them.. I F$?%%^% do all the F%?$??% time. I am happy for you if you don't hear the aircraft. :)

I've answered that one. You thick moron.

You're welcome. I thought I was going mad too. Several morons on here really didn't help.

As Per Other Aircraft NOISE threads on this forum. The Aircraft over ED DV and WD has increased as Heathrow have narrowed the flight path which was previously over the Thames and Canary Warf Bermondsey etc IE further North. As the flight path has narrowed and moved south WE are now DIRECTLY under the Heathrow flight path and aircraft start to fly over from 5.30 am. There was a public meeting in Brockley with Heathrow representatives which confirmed a huge increase in complaints since the changes were implemented. Having lived in the area all my life and having sat in the same garden all my life I can confirm prior to 2011 there were NO low flying aircraft over ED. Further there have been changes to Jet engines which makes the current design prone to a high pitched whistle in certain atmospheric conditions which will drive the noise downward as the slow and it?s at a level which can become noticeable to some people more than others. Double glazing makes little difference as the pitch isn?t contained through DG and Glass. Those who don?t hear the aircraft are often buffered by the position of buildings and the sound doesn?t reflect others may find the noise is increased due to the same factors living at the rear of a building for example. There is no solution I have tried ear plugs of every type but after 4 hours they become painful and I wake up anyway noise machines which produce white noise don?t work as the jet frequency isn?t masked. I have become used to the noise to some degree and accept there is little I can do but there are mornings where the combination of atmospheric conditions and intense concentration of flights and the time between them becomes unbearable so I get up and go for a run. The upside is I am now fitter than at any point in my life but I must get to bed pretty early as I wake up at 5.30 6.00 am almost every day. Meditation is worth a try, it has also helped me. We live in an insane world where having a problem OTHERS don?t have or notice, is a problem ? for them ? bizarre !
