Last few days have been lovely quiet thanks to easterly winds. Reminds me of a few years back when ED wasn't impacted by aircraft noise and morons.

Yep we suffer a current generation of lazy incompetent parents. And their out of control maniac children. :( Unfortunately society is unable to deal with the fall out. Political Correctness.. Now means you can't say anything. -
Dulwich Estate - fit to run conservation?
fazer71 replied to DulvilleRes's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Feast or Famine planning madness. Previously nothing now anything goes. Very sad. This will make the ugly court lane houses look small and insignificant. The Dulwich Estate only care about how much they can screw out of the local community any talk of conservation is biased s&%Te . -

Dulwich Estate - fit to run conservation?
fazer71 replied to DulvilleRes's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
completely agree with intexasatthe moment comments above... I would add Best NOT to mention the following at the planning meeting all irrelevant to the planning process and decision. 1. Disruption. (This is not a planning consideration all building work can cause disruption) 2. Traffic during construction phase. (Irrelevant to planning decision making process ) 3. Danger to children (Planning is about the application nothing else!) Don't waste time with points 1-3 or similar . Stick to forcing a refusal on the grounds of over development, scale of proposed design, failure to blend in with or compliment the neighbouring properties ie not in keeping or similar line of attack ..!!!! The Dulwich Estate have been responsible for numerous mistakes all over the DE this is another mistake which Southwark conservation should refuse. Much info in the Southwark design plan etc but for conservation purposes scale / size height and design are key .. Apparently ... and this application appears to fail on all conditions .. Get support with the local MP if you haven't already for the relevant points. Again forget children noise etc bla bla as a line of argument ... waste of precious time . time you must use to put forward the REAL issues. ! -
Atmospheric pressure light wind, add in hot weather open windows it will be loud.

Bobthefunkhouse Thank you for adding to the noise on this thread and contributing a solution, "move home :)" to a problem which has appeared where previously there was no problem. (oh yes must remember aircraft have been flying over ED since Roman times.) *Droning Aircraft as I write this.* FYI These days I wake up at 4.30am I have an extra 3 hours a day to contribute. *Droning Aircraft as I write this.* The problem is the quality of my contribution, side effect of the reduced quality of life I now enjoy. *Droning Aircraft as I write this.* My observation as a city dweller ... When I first moved to this part of the city . There was no aircraft noise at 4.30 am and little through the rest of the day. How things change .. Today IT IS Constant ! *Droning Aircraft as I write this.* As with noise from a new bar, new factory, new road, new neighbour etc *Droning Aircraft as I write this.* IHMO Further noise blight from Heathrow aircraft is unacceptable on any level.

I have a friends (yes unbelievable but they do live North Ldn) they have two boys now aged 12 and 15 they did the YES parenting thing. Both were working like crazy, away from home or often back late their boys were mostly looked after by au pairs. That may also explain the YES parenting, making up for not being there. I stopped seeing them it became unbearable, the last straw three years ago, they visited we spend a day in Dulwich park the boys fuelled on pure sugar and chocolate much tears in the play area etc, afterwards back to mine for a Chinese, the youngest ate so much he threw up at the table "NICE" Mum apologised and cleaned it up Dad went into the garden, all adult conversation was impossible the boys would interrupt and my old friends attention would immediately be directed at the child. From an early age apparently (I was away working so didn?t see them) the boys were a difficult and obviously never disciplined or given limits, the idea being that would set them up for life to be dominant happy and driven, as opposed to meek weak and easily managed, a great way to set them up to be successful. I have occasional updates from a mutual friend who still visits (maniac imo) apparently the boys are glued to their computer games consoles 24.7 these days so I may risk a visit. *crossed fingers*. But The 12 year old is obese can't do sport did rugby for a while but kept getting injured so that's now over, he's a little bullied at school and has had many days at home to recover. The 15 year old was expelled from school early this year for trouble making and generally disruptive behaviour he's now home Schooled. My old friends probably expect their boys will be happy billionaires in some creative field. My money isn't going on that but who knows. ************** I kid you not. -

It isn't all parents it's just the ones who follow that fashion / trend. The children who go kerserk are often not take outside the parents just carry on without regard to others they allow their maniac / unwell out of control kids to run the show, I've seen many times. In other countries parents take their screaming disobedient children outside to calm down or they leave. In the UK that rarely happens. Discipline is now a dirty word many parents don't deal with issues or worst when the child screams or behave badly they pander to their ever need then children are in control of the parents eventually the parents out in public are so exhausted they just want to chat with their friend/s in the pub and they allow the screaming to continue. I feel sorry for the Parents and the children. Though more sorry for everyone else who's out looking to enjoy life. Thing is you can't go into an ED pub without a very good chance of having to deal with screaming children. The OP wouldn't have started this thread if you could. The trend fashion is not to discipline so you end up with these problems. I'd love to see a similar thread on a foreign forum going on and on about screaming kids in cafe's bars etc. My French Spanish German Italian Portuguese isn't up to trawling the net would be very interesting to do that. :) -
???? wrong thread. Bob thanks that makes sense. Also shows the historical data is probably flawed.
-
I guess you guys know I'm pretty obsessed by the Aircraft noise so last year I looked at the historical data. I checked flightradar.com trawling through lots of historical data also after contacting Heathrow they supplied some charts I looked at their data and compared it to flightradar.com I came to the conclusion the precision of all the data is poor very very poor when compared for same dates. It simply wasn't precise there was lots of variation between the different overlays comparing the exactly the same flights on the same day I went over the data time and time again. Then I looked at the live data on flightradar.com which proved my findings sometimes the aircraft were in the correct position I could confirm with my own eyes and at other times the live data didn't match what I was seeing with my eyes the aircraft were miles away. Maybe due to atmospheric anomalies maybe due to a magnetic change I saw the anomaly live on the same day? Why aren't the feeds accurate? Conclusion the historical data can't be trusted. If you don't believe me sit with a laptop in your garden run flightradar you will see a lot of aircraft visible 1/2 a mile or more away from where the live feed shows,, some are in the correct place vs the live data. http://www.flightradar24.com/51.46,-0.17/13

Depends where you go. Personally I find them to have fewer berserker kids. They have a developed sense of social respect control their children. In the UK they is a current fashion to simply allow children do do exactly as they please. Is out laziness is it ignorance is it some form of special form of self education? Who knows? What we do know is out of control kids in pubs makes customers go where they are no kids. Imaging if people with dogs allowed their dog to howl constantly whist on the pub they'd be asked to leave yet kids who do the same must be tolerated.. Weird -

Any moment you'll be told by one of the mob, you are crazy there's no aircraft noise and if there is accept it has been there since roman times. This thread like all the other aircraft noise threads have been railroaded by the ED mob. I really don't understand what they are trying to achieve. What their motivation is, but they do it to every aircraft noise thread.? Bizzare

I'm convinced the combination of aircraft noise lack of sleep and dealing with those on here have made me go quite mad. Ban me and I'll have one less problem. My moral compass is fully operational even with the madness!

whymewhynow We're dealing with weird people who have a lot of ego and zero empathy. Unfortunately that sums up the people of ED who attempt to dominate all discussion on this forum and who the moderator is biased in allowing to dominate this form.. Sure the mod gives the occasional nudge for show, but these flame trolls just keep going on the knowledge they will be tolerated by the mob and mod. Even on holiday DF can't let it go, the ego just keeps the madness going. Mod fwiw The best way to generate decent posts and attract new quality members is to deal with these egocentric posts.! whymewhynow makes one fabulous post and is criticised immediately buy two of these ego maniac members. Not on is it? Edit to add.. Realise this is about Aircraft noise, not EGO, if those of us who have a problem are to discuss our problem (Aircraft noise) why must we also deal with the thread being derailed by those who do not have a problem? Edit to add.. Bizarre having just read the above, why would anyone support an issue they don't have a problem with? Is my logic wrong here? I fear the lack of sleep may have driven me potty? If I'm not, then shouldn't people who really really really want to HELP give us the space to discuss?

REALITY Heathrow blatantly LIE. They're not even clever about it. I was at last years meeting in Brockley and Heathrow "Reps" didn't have a clue, they kept saying nothing had changed for 20 years they couldn't understand why there tens of thousands more complaints! I guess that to shows Heathrow management don't even tell their own staff "Reps" etc the truth. FWIW some for those who were not aware ... the last three days have been quiet This is due to EASTERLY operations at Heathrow Unfortunately not due to a move back to the northerly landing flight path under Westerly operations pre 2008/10.

I disagree the difference is the majority kids and parents in Spain, Italy and France are considerate the children are taught to respect others. In ED sugar fuelled children and their parents have little consideration they have no moral compass believe the world revolves around them they are oblivious to others. Quite Rotten. We're all familiar with the occasional nightmare child, but in ED they're 70% maniacs. That's why I now drink and eat in Peckham or further away. An I wish there was a baby/pram/child free pub in ED ! -
edcam pm'd whymewhynow thanks for an excellent balanced post, agreed on the incredible increase in noise since 2008. Your 4.(ii) suggestion is potentially a great short/medium term solution.

This has brought back a rather painful experience in the Actress. *Two dads four screaming kids a ruined lunch my ears were ringing at the end.* I haven't been back to the Actress since even though I put that down to the two dads being totally out of their depth, looking after the kids whilst the mums were having a day off. Now beginning to realise that may not be the case, they may have simply been allowing their kids to behave as they "the kids" wished as I have seen some mothers doing the same. Spoil your children and they become rotten adults rotten adults spoilt by their parents now spoil their children, so we have an ongoing rotten society of people who just carry on without respect for others, lacking in social skills, void of humanity, with zero empathy all hugely uncivilised. In Spain, Italy and France children don't behave like out of control maniacs as often as they do in ED. I avoid local pubs particularly at lunch time, weekends and early evening. I anyone does spot a pub which has a no Children policy then do let me know as I would be a regular. -
The solution is to make Heathrow a passenger only airport. One of Heathrows arguments is the benefits a third runway will benefit it's cargo business. Brompton bicycles could just deliver their bikes to Stansted or Gatwick. That would free up Heathrow for more passengers. Regardless the whole thing is insane. Heathrow is the last place we should have an Airport. Boris is the only politician with any balls and the brains to look 100 years ahead. All the others are burying their heads in the sand.
-
According to Heathrow. "their lie machine" There are fewer people suffering from aircraft noise today and with the ne third runway even fewer will suffer with aircraft noise. So it would appear they take us all for morons.
