  1. There may be an explanation... Is it possible 1/2 1/4 or less of East Dulwich was on the flight path (so everyone who says it's been like this for years would be in that area of ED) and now the flight path has moved further south it covers more or all of East Dulwich and probably some of Dulwich Village and west Dulwich too? Could that explain why some of us are now suffering and some of us have learnt to live with it? I know as I live and breath for me it was never previously like this could it be connected with the Brockley trial? Did they move it back only not back to where it was before?? Still very strange how some people who say they have no issue poke those of us who do ....

He > doesn't whinge about day time flights - which > appears to be a-okay with you. monkeylite it?s Flown (past participle of fly) not Flew ? 1st time I though it was a typo but 2nd time I guess you weren?t aware, no insult intended. I have a close friend too, anyone working night shift, unless they are a fool will know there is little possibility of a quiet daytime sleep as 99.9% of the population are awake working and making a lot of noise. At least night workers have quiet night?s work, unless they?re affected by the 4.30 am flights. To be clear?. My issue with the aircraft noise is that it is a NEW phenomenon in ED. I?ll say this again ?In the 40 years I have lived here I have woken on a Saturday and Sunday morning and when not working (I get up a 4.30 am for work) all other mornings,, It has been quiet! NO aircraft noise ZERO ZIP NISH NADA?. I would sit in my garden and it was QUITE! NO aircraft noise ZERO ZIP NISH NADA. I would walk in Dulwich Park or across Peckham Rye it was QUITE! NO aircraft noise ZERO ZIP NISH NADA. I guess somewhere else New Cross, Bermondsey or further North other Londoners may have for the last 18 or so months had peaceful QUITE mornings and days? Exactly where I don?t know and it?s very unlikely those people will be shouting about how quiet it has become over the last 18 + months?. But as we can see in this thread there are some weird people about there may indeed be a forum somewhere with people moaning they can?t sleep because the aircraft noise has disappeared, bizarre but possible. I can assure you all I am 100% certain I am NOT noticing noise which has been there for the last 40 years. The aircraft have shifted to a flight path which affects East Dulwich some parts more than others. I never expected that I would suddenly find myself on the Heathrow flight path but that is exactly what has happened, over the course of 18-24 months I now find myself under the HR Flight Path. I guess I have a right to bitch and moan about it as it isn?t what I bought into 40 years ago. It is NEW it has shifted from Others to us in East Dulwich ?. edit to correct spelling confusion.... soz

You on the other hand fly 12 times a year! Are you serious? On your logic if my neighbour get up at 4.30 am starts up his loud high performance car revving the nuts off it for 20 minutes to warm it up and in the process wakes up the whole street before he finally departs for work a 5am. I AM THE PROBLEM ????? Because I also have a car? FFS with neighbours with logic like that we're all fvucked....

Are they the missing link between us normal Humans and Ostrich? Do they have some other agenda ? Shares in Heathrow associated companies a desire to avoid negative topics Re East Dulwich? Would I rubbish them NO! ?Have your Say? and if ?Your Say? is YOU don?t notice the Aircraft noise then PLEASE ?. F OFFFFFFFFFF> MOVE on FFS. It is great to read posts like this confirmation that I am not going crazy. I remember clearly waking up on a Saturday or Sunday morning and there was complete silence No Aircraft noise just the occasional Bus or some car noise. Today every day 7 days a week 365 days a year I am woken by aircraft THUNDERING overhead ? except the occasional day where the wind changes direction. As I write this at 8.52 there hasn?t been a single noisy flight ALL the noisy flights were 4.30 to 7.30 am this morning I can only assume the fights currently going into Heathrow are on the old flight path ? the pre waking me up up at 4.30 in the Fu$%ing am flight path?, So to you FVCKING Idiots who are not affected I am NOT noticing it MORE !!!!!! IT IS HAPPENING MORE because they are flying ? ? ? Who THE Fvck knows exactly how much nearer !!!!! They are 100% flying on a path which now affects ME and a large number of others?. Living in East Dulwich ?. I don?t give a damn that Ostrich Busybody Nutters are not affected??. I AM totally affected by the insane FVUCKING NOISE !!!! The insane noise which has previously not been over East Dulwich BUT now IT IS and IT will only get worst!

  7. ED was at its best when I wasn't woken up by jet aircraft at 4.30 am on their way to land at heathrow followed by another ever minute or so...! Ie before ED was on the heathrow flight path?
  8. V Funny. If you can't make a sensible comment then fly off. Even if it "Jet noise" has been going on over us for years "afaic I realy doubt it has" I remember quiet Saturday and Sunday mornings in bed. Also I can't ever remember needing to turn up the volume on the tv to hear a program over the sound of aircraft flying overhead, now I find myself doing that so either I've developed super hearing or flights are louder or flights are now closer. I believe Jets heathrow bound are flying lower and they're constant over East Dulwich. We might as well be living in Richmond , Chiswick etc right next to Heathrow were experiencing just as much noise. Fact is we're now bang on the flight path. And we're living with the constant noise from 1am to 12pm. it's only going to get worst ......

It isn't just me who's noticing the increase. It was actually someone else who said they remembered when they heard Concord and now it's like Concord every couple of minutes !! http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/47098
  10. From HACAN http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/47098 "" Can I draw your attention to the HM Government e-petition website which offers a voice to campaigners wanting issues debated in Parliament. There is currently a Petition posted by Gabriel Hammond under the title "Quiet Sky At Night: Ban on Aircraft Noise at Night". It closes on 14/03/14 and needs 100,000 signatures to have effect. It currently has a frankly pathetic 20, including mine. Please add your signature ASAP. E-petitions "trend" according to popularity, so a significant "rush" will bring the topic to the attention of others. Has HACAN already tried this? "" Remember these flights will only increase over time the future is quite bleak! I know that there has been a huge increase in flights over East Dulwich in the last couple of years and the intensity has never been as bad as it is now. Between contracts I'm at home in ED and I notice daytime flights are now constant and the early morning flights start at 4.30 am these aircraft fly low over London and cause misery to millions of people many are not aware exactly what it is that's causing them to have a poor nights sleep as other noise masks the Jet drone past 5am. I you value quality of life then banning flight over London from 1am to 6am is a must.
  11. I can remember when concord used to fly over because it was the only jet aircraft you used to hear now every minute it sounds like concord is flying over. Weird if nothing has changed.!
  12. Boris has the right idea, only problem is I'll be dead by the time they build it. Heathrow should just return to their pre 2012 flight paths until then. http://www.theguardian.com/politics/video/2013/dec/17/boris-johnson-thames-estuary-airport-video
  13. *Bob* Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/file.php?5 > ,file=118185 Bob that's an image of the flights from 2012 when they began the narrowing and move south of the flights into Heathrow. Try and find one from 2011 .... I'd be surprised if you can. Heathrow have now concentrated every landing to the South where they previously concentrated the flights over the Thames. Try find the radar results from 2007 - 2011 I can't . The image for 2013 will be far far narrower and also the change in approach height isn't shown and that height has also dropped by 1,000 ft. We're now totally F??$ED ..
  14. keyhole Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Get earplugs, very little aircraft noise here.is > this serious,,,,,can't be,someone winding people > up.! Like it. If you go to Dulwich Park all you'll hear is Jet after Jet screaming overhead this was never the case it?s a totally new phenomenon. It's only been for the last 18 month previously they spread the flights, now all landings into Heathrow pass over and turn over East Dulwich and they do so at lower heights between 1,000 and 1,800 ft. Landings begin from 4.15 depending. I've tried earplugs "?150 made to measure in soft silicone sleep plugs" but after 5 hours they begin hurting and wake me up so they don't help. Secondary and double glazing doesn't help because the Jets make a low level rumble "thunder" type noise and also screech thrust "whistle noise" and a combination of the two which drone those noises pass through walls roofs and all windows regardless. Some people are not affected "bad hearing etc" others "like me" are driven insane. As it's been an issue for the last 18 months many people haven't registered the change once you notice you will realise the problem is now constant unceasing and intrusive. It?s the equivalent of suddenly finding yourself living next to or under a motorway except the noise created by Jet aircraft is impossible for many people to tolerate unlike motorway noise the volume and pitch created by jet engines affects people in a way which is impossible to ignore.

Sometimes we don't notice because it's further north over the Thames. Early morning flights are often 1/2 to 2/3 full from personal experience having taken flights from SE Asia and European cities. They're only full during the holiday periods.
  16. Wind direct this morning meant no flights over ED. So I slept until 8.00 rather than 4.30 this morning. Lovely. It' only a matter of wind direction, can anyone fixe this permanently? ;) We need to start praying because Heathrow look to be getting a new runway so expect more and more flights over ED.

Hi James FYI This site shows all the flights 99% flying over ED are landing at Heathrow http://www.flightradar24.com/51.46,-0.17/13 The flight path has moved 10-20 miles south over ED in the last 18 months.
  18. Totally agree. Majority of the early morning flights are only 1/2 full. This evening it's constant drone drone screech screech every couple of mins. It wasn't like this in ED 18 months ago. Next summer is going to be a complete nightmare in the garden if they continue with this new flight path.

My point is we are now on the FULL flight path or have been for the last 18 months. The aircraft now join the flight path above East Dulwich some joining above Blackheath. Where we were previously before the joining point. Now we get every single flight landing at Heathrow flying above us it's a conveyor belt of Jets which goes on constantly. Where it was previously 1 in 10 now it's 9 in 10. Many locals haven't noticed I didn't but when you do it's very intrusive and difficult to ignore. Here you can see flight live notice how they all turn and join the flight path above Forest Hill Brockley have all noticed but many in East Dulwich haven't yet http://www.flightradar24.com/51.46,-0.17/13 http://www.thisislocallondon.co.uk/news/10722322.Brockley_aircraft_noise__worst_in_London___says_campaign_group/ It is a new experience only getting worst.
  20. 20% more chance of dying of stress-related diseases under Heathrow flight path A new study, to be published today (9/10/13), has found that deaths from stroke, heart and circulatory disease are 20% higher in areas with high levels of aircraft noise than in places with the least noise. Researchers at Imperial College London and King's College London compared data on day- and night-time aircraft noise with hospital admissions and mortality rates among a population of 3.6 million people living near Heathrow airport. The findings are published in the British Medical Journal. The study covered 12 London boroughs and nine districts outside of London where aircraft noise exceeds 50 decibels - about the volume of a normal conversation in a quiet room. http://www.theguardian.com/environment/2013/nov/12/heathrow-hub-quieter-four-runway-airport If you're not affected then you are lucky if you are then it's very bad news. If you're worried about the value of your property then you should be get because this is only going to get worst.

Really Well you know when it's bloody loud for me that's when I can't hear the tv over the sound of a jet engine. It's been for the last 18 months for 38 1/2 year prior to that I have never heard any jet over my roof never had a need to raise the volume on the tv due to jet aircraft noise. If there was going to be a motorway at the end of my garden there would be consultation but for aircraft 500ft from my roof nothing zip zero sweet f a .. I used to go on a 2 month work contract to some god awful dump and suffer all kinds of noise and look forward to coming home for the nice quite weekend mornings in bed ... Now I can't wait to head off on a contact to get some sleep. Insane .
  22. StraferJack Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Fazer. Anti aircraft noise and pollution and > congestion > > But pro car noise and etc etc > > Curbs against one are an outrage and against the > other are A Priority Car noise is no where near as intrusive it's moderate by comparison. Aircraft noise is high pitched and goes through double glazing and solid walls.
  23. Hi James The aircraft noise has increased again. It's now constant aircraft are lower that before. How is it 40 year no aircraft now all day from 4.30 am to 11.30pm+ constant and low. Drone and Screeching Jets constantly. I've been all over the world and lived and worked near airports but the noise we have now is a bad as anything I've experienced. Really Insane! I guess there's a lot of happy people in a another part of London who no longer get any noise!
  24. The aircraft noise is insane every 2 mins another droning screeching jet passes over head. Driving me potty from 4.30 am.. I've pretty much had enough been here 40 year and never had this. I remember lying in bed thinking how lovely and quite it is. Not now drone drone drone drone drone drone drone drone drone drone from 4.30 am to 11.30 pm every day except when the wind is from the west. INSANE !

It's only been happening for the last 18 or so months once you realise you hear it constantly. Been here 40 years and only now is it constant impossible to open windows in the summer. I'm at the point where I've had enough.
