  2. James have you got a position on this ? Air travel, and the aircraft noise that accompanies it, have become an integral part of modern life, but perceptions of aircraft noise vary greatly, mainly depending on where it is experienced. For most people, who do not live near to a major airport, air travel is exclusively defined in terms of the considerable economic or social benefits that it brings. On the other hand, for those who live near major airports, aircraft noise can be an imposition. The time has come to adopt a fresh approach, to restore trust and give people the confidence that their legitimate grievances are being addressed. We believe that the establishment of an independent aircraft noise ombudsman, set up at arm's length from government and the industry, could play a fundamental role in further establishing trust and confidence, thus bringing about a fair and reasonable balance between increasing demand for flights and noise control. Building on the common ground and goodwill built up among the interested parties, the ombudsman would collaborate with all of them to report on noise in an open, transparent and intelligible manner, and to deal with noise limitation problems fairly and sustainably. We therefore call on the government and politicians of all colours to work collaboratively with all stakeholders on designing, and thereafter the early establishment of, an independent aircraft noise ombudsman to further enhance and protect the welfare of people living near airports. Thought it was the local East Dulwich discussion forum. hold on you're trying to show another example of what it is to be a moron aren't you. I get it ... that's it . you and troll show you're a moronic troll at the same time. Ah Very good almost caught me out there. You're a proper Moron. ----------------- It's so lovely this morning no Fooking noise from those Ba?tard Aircraft going into Thiefrow. It's the way it used to be I can look out of my windows whilst working and no aircraft bearing down on me no noise. Unfortunately as soon as the wind turns it'll be the same old S?it. -----------------------

  7. This morning. Heathrow on easterly landing operations nice and quiet. Morons Here's an example... Normal person: "I've got a pounding headache" Moron: "no you haven't" Normal person: "yes I have it's really bad constant pounding" Moron: "no you're imagining it you're fine" Normal person: "no I've had a headache before and I tool pain killers and it went away" Moron: "you should take pain killers all the time that way you'll never have a headache" Normal person: "you're a moron"

I bought in a quiet area but nooooooooooooo I now deserve from one year to the next to be blighted by aircraft noise? You know before I was woken up at 4.30am every morning I had no anger I was pretty relaxed! Those people who lived along the Thames under the flight path knew what they had they always had the noise they bought in the knowledge it was part of their lives if they didn't want it they would never have bought there. What we now have in East Dulwich and Brockley etc is a motorway in the sky above our heads. A new motorway for aircraft making more noise than car or lorries. A motorway which wakes you up at 4.30am with a noise that's akin to being inside a blast furnace only with added screech.... If they were planning a motorway at the end of your road you'd be happy with that would you??? Morons everywhere adopting the ostrich position.
  9. Otta Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I think the problem is some posters calling anyone > that disagrees with them a moron. ^ moronic. So morons who think moving to the country side after 40 years of peace. because Heathrow have decided to move the flight path over their homes is a really good idea..... FFS IF that isn't moronic WTF is ?

Obviously if you buy in an area which has always been on the flight path then sure. But please don't be a moron. It's not a few flights. It's one every couple of minutes. Starting at 4.30 am. Parts of East Dulwich Dulwich Village Forest Hill Brockley Honor Oak in SE London have never experienced the noise it's recent and it's getting worst. Historically you could walk in Dulwich Park or on Peckham Rye and there was no aircraft noise NOW it's constant. Do you honestly think people in Brockley are having meetings with Heathrow for the fun of it ? NO it's because the situation has changed and changed dramatically.

Only a Moron would deal with the impact before dealing with the cause. Heathrow Air Traffic Control should put the flight path back over the Thames where is has been since the 1970?s until 2012...
  12. StraferJack The people who are annoyed probably don't frequent this forum. This forum contain a wafer thin selection of East Dulwich inhabitants who have time on their hands to write posts and chat about local issues 99% of ED residents don't. Many people "not on this forum" who you ask say they have noticed an increase in aircraft noise. I believe the increase has been dramatic over the last 18 months and has impacted the southern edge of ED and Dulwich Village where it was previously not an issue. I accept you haven't seen any noticeable difference and you're not bothered by aircraft noise. WHY do YOU fail to accept I have see a dramatic change and I am very bothered by the aircraft noise? Is it because you are afraid of something? Is I because you don't care about other peoples problems? Is it because you only care about yourself? I really really really do not understand your viewpoint on this. "on this forum for 7 years now. Approx 15000 posts from " and you haven't learn't to stop being a C$NT ?
  13. Bingo? Bizarre. Totally bizarre. Why would someone who doesn't have a problem with aircraft noise insult someone who does? Completely bizarre. Today Sunday after yesterdays lovely quite morning/day. I was woken at 4.35am by the usual rumble and scream. Anyone trying to enjoy todays heatwave expect the intrusion of jet aircraft whilst on the Rye or in the Park. Compared with yesterdays lovely quite. Those of us who aren't deaf will definitely notice the noise.
  14. Amazing No Aircraft noise this morning. Flights all landing on Easterly Winds. It's the way it was when the Westerly flight path followed the Thames the way it used to be all the time !

How are they coping > with the amount of tenants who can't > justify/afford the extra room and would prefer to > downsize? If they stay in their 2 bed flat they pay ?14 a week. = ?728 a year more In the private rental market a 2 bed flat is on average between 20% and 50% more. London rents that's ?24 to ?140 a week more or between ?1,248 and ?7,280 a year more. obviously there are much higher rentals these are within the cheaper range. There appears to be a shortage of 1 bed flats. Would the council tenant be allowed to rent out the 2nd room ? That would be worth ?50 to ?200+ a week depending on location ?
  17. James FYI Getting the measure of aircraft noise (This email received by Wandworth Council today. They are taking action against Heathrow expansion) ?Yesterday Wandsworth Council and the all-party 2M Group launched an independent noise report in the House of Commons which challenges the way Sir Howard Davies and his Airports Commission are measuring the impact of aircraft noise. ?The 'ANASE update study' highlights the inadequacy of the existing 57 decibel noise benchmark which the Commission is using as the basis for recommending additional runway capacity. ?According to this benchmark Putney, Wandsworth Town and Battersea are not affected by noise from aircraft. We all know this is complete fantasy We first submitted the updated ANASE study to Davies In September 2013. We have also highlighted the volume of noise complaints from residents in Wandsworth and other places outside of the 57 decibel area. ?The Commission has not engaged with us over this crucial evidence. As a result it is able to propose more night flights over Wandsworth as well as shortlist Heathrow as a potential site for a new runway. ?Our launch of the ANASE report at the Commons will make it harder for Davies to ignore its findings. ?We now need residents to join our campaign for a fair deal on noise. You can write to Davies, write to the Transport Secretary, come to our public meetings and ask your neighbours to do the same. ?It was public pressure that forced the abandonment of previous runway plans in 2010. Send your first email today and we can win this battle again.? Ravi Govindia, Leader of Wandsworth Council

  19. PokerTime I though the bedroom tax had been adjusted to take into account disabled room use? If anyone can come up with a better solution for Ie a 3 bed council houses being occupied by one person of an elderly married couple; I'd like to hear it especially when it's out hard earned tax which is paying for it. Common sense if bedrooms going unused in the social sector something must be done to change that, we do have a housing shortage and these social tenants appear to be part of the problem. The private sector is a more efficient use of housing stock and also better for the environment on a sq ft occupancy energy usage. I'm all for social housing but it is due a long overdue overhaul. Too many ?100,000 a year black cab drivers still living in council housing on cheap rents the current system isn't fit for purpose.

The time has come to build a new airport which doesn't result in aircraft flying over millions of people causing constant stress and disturbance, afaik Heathrow is unique in the developed world no other major city has aircraft flying over densely populate cities. The rouble we have is persuading a lot of add people who THINK we are nutters but they are normal !/

I don't use PR but if I was experiencing that I would also be pretty annoyed. Plenty of other places to play and a no ball games policy where people are traversing would be sensible. I has every sympathy with you especially if this hasn't been the case previously. Question is what can be done about it? Maybe contact complain to the council or the local MP, they have the power to make it a no ball game area if they believe it's needed. Really quite bizarre how others can't empathise with you. I totally understand how after a hideous commute someone faced with a chicane dodging ball dodging and kid dodging would be totally peed off.
  24. Ah the old deal with the effects rather than the cause ... FFS you Could also build a sound proof room with no windows and with air conditioning. Or excavate a basement room similarly sound proofed and sleep everyone underground. Definitely good options if you insist on living in East Dulwich. Some other options. 4 layer sound proof glass Soundproofed loft space Soundproofed internal walls Sound deflectors hanging from the outside of the property Plant dense trees leylandii would be ideal planted in the front and rear garden as many as possible 600 mm apart and allow them to grow higher than the property A sound bubble covering sleeping area Other options anyone ?
