  1. Incidentally. A town called Malice - The Jam (with Bruce Foxton)
  2. was it any good?
  3. The line 'something to smile about' was used by the, ever impartial, BBC to describe the potential loss of some 70,000 estate agency (and related) jobs over the next year. But, to get back to the subject, will Foxtons go bust? Very unlikely, I've said it before but they are in Dulwich for the long term. They must be a very well funded company to have come this far. Their previous owner, who did decline to buy them back but on what terms few know, has said that their business model should be fairly recession proof because of the rental market. And he is not stupid. He currently has about a billion pounds more than the rest of us. I wish they'd do something about their light show, it's so un-U. If you know what I mean?
  4. If you go to the cinema there you get free car parking. Screen 11 for the big bum seats (not that I need one)
  5. The subtle, recurring confusion between illusion and reality that was characteristic of paramnesia fascinated the chaplain, and he knew a number of things about it. He knew, for example, that it was called paramnesia, and he was interested as well in such corollary optical phenomena as jamais vu, never seen, and presque vu, almost seen. - Joseph Heller, Catch-22 Dear HB & JL, I think you may both be suffering some sort of psychological disorder. Unbelievable as that may seem.
  6. We were regulars at the old Mag quiz and went down to the Herne once. It had nothing like the atmosphere and we did not enjoy. No sausage & chips and I have to say, although Pietro is a lovely guy, I don't think he was as good as Beeny. I'm up for it. See you down there.
  7. It seems the jury at the inquest into the death of De Menezes will not be able to return a verdict of unlawful killing. 'Sir Michael Wright (the Coroner) said that having heard all the evidence, a verdict of unlawful killing was "not justified" Well thank god for the great british system of justice. What is the point of a jury if so directed, by a specially appointed, coroner? This has always looked like the Establishment closing ranks, it's a disgrace.
  8. Christmas by the Who on Tommy, perfect for cynics and others that hate Christmas
  9. The trouble is that in many parts of the world there is only one currency thats meaningful, the US dollar. I think we should chuck our lot in with the septics and ditch the pound in favour of the dollar. Then you could be $$$$.
  10. Er, me or Moos?
  11. HonaloochieB Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > The drivers could of course slow down. Yeah, thats going to happen. Hi, TonyQuinn, I think one of the most worrying things about driving down Barry Road is drivers overtaking the 12 Bus (or anything else for that matter) double white lines all the way down that magical mile I say.
  12. It's a murder of crows. Already gone.
  13. Ding dong.
  14. A pedantry of Dulwichites might be the collective noun. Perhaps after a forum night out it could be a chunder of Dulwichites. But, should we be East Alleynians rather than south Peckhamites or Dulwichites. A pedantry of East Alleynians does have a bit of a ring to it? (No pun intended) Snobs might be a good one, but i think it's been used before in other areas of London, so might not be all that original. I suppose we could be a vacuum of Dulwichites, but, nature abhors?
  15. This er, thread, is getting a bit long.
  16. It's a curtain shop! For god's sake, pull yourselves together.
  17. Simple question then, with interest rates falling, possible tax cuts on Monday. Will it be enough to make people feel better off and start to spend, most particularly on property again? People must be thinking that property is starting to look, if not cheap, better value than 18 months ago. Is there another boom on the way?
  18. Like Keef my guitar, a Larrivee, it even sounds good when I play it.
  19. You should all be supporting the Halifax as you are, if you are paying tax, supporting them anyway as they are part of Halifax Bank of Scotland (HBOS) or sponging b*sstards as some taxpayers call them.
  20. Ooh, I've gone all do lally
