  2. Very close to Gandhi.
  3. Also, it appeared that nearly everyone except me was lying about their age - what's the point?? Just made me wonder what else they were lying about But when you meet in 'real life' how often do you volunteer your age? "Hi I'm xyz and I'm 34" or whatever (especially if you look/act/are young/old for your age)? I go on a couple of dates via the internet, and a couple via newspapers, and they just didn't work out. Nothing weird or strange about them - just not quite 'me'.
  4. Old enough to pay bills is quite old enough!

These 'lovely little independent shops' don't just supply goods and services to locals, they also provide employment, therefore keeping roofs over heads. They are also much better for any economic environment that empty shop fronts.
  6. Chris Martin did Ancient History at UCL and was well remembered by people there as being a really nice guy (but that was of course then..........)
  7. Jeremy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Don't you find Lenny Henry funny, Bob? He really is hilarious isn't he? That wonderful advert he is in for that hotel chain. I cry with laughter every time I see it - 'I've found something small time - THE BILL'. Unfortunately Lenny its your career that is small time now.
  8. Or is anyone else sick to the death of Comic Relief??? I am certainly not against doing things and raising money for charities, but I am just a little bit fed up of celebrites making the most of their time in the spotlight - all for chayriteee mate!
  9. I think in the First War there were more commonwealth troops involved in France which may have meant that they were based in England and ended up being buried here. Which would explain the heart-breaking cemetaries in Normandy. I always feel so sad about those young men buried half a world away from any relatives who would have wanted to visit their graves.
  10. I do have to say that my lodger a few years ago was drinking in the Uplands, and witnessed two women were quarrelling over a man. Each poured their pint into the other woman's handbag! I have to say I have never been tempted to go in there since hearing the tale.
  11. I will deffo go and have a look this weekend, I always like the Rye, although a change in menu would be good as it seems to have been the same (with just a tweak here and there) for ages.

  13. Books - just had to build another set of bookshelves to fit the new ones in................
  14. "I just think that 2 such metropoli as Peckham and Greenwich ought to be linked by at least one direct means of public transport - preferably some sort of funky suspended monorail thingy, for fun." What about the bus that goes from the bus station, via Queeen's Road Peckham straight through Greenwich, true it has to go via New Cross but still only 20-30 minutes (can't remember the number)
  15. Well let's hope the CPT doesn't run out of beer like they did last Sunday.
  16. My uncles went to Public School and my mother was educated at home - perhaps that would be another solution.
  17. Q) Does it produce excellent pupils who set a fine > example of what modern school leavers can be like > and schoolchildren aspire to? > > A) Jude Law.
  18. What's the difference between God and Bono? God doesn't walk around Dublin thinking he's Bono.
  19. I think some of the products in Lidl are great, but I've never been able to do an entire 'shop' in either Lidl, Netto or Aldi, as there often seems to be an element of chance in stock at any given time.
  20. LRon Hubble - are you on a one person mission to undermine any sort of alternative therapy? So far you've joined threads to dismiss acupunture as rubbish and now you start a thread to undermine anyone's belief in homeopathy. Are you medically trained? Do you have a particular grudge against alternative therapy? Or are you just trying to wind people up?
  21. Louisa That sounds great - will bear that in mind for my next excursion.
  22. I went to the CAB in Peckham after 6 months without a job and was told that because I have no children and am not pregnant I am not applicable for any kind of help whatsoever. Apparently 25 years of paying taxes is irrelevant. Luckily I am in a contract role at the moment and saving desperately but do feel that there is no safety net for many.
  23. at Popham.
  24. Sea Urchin and the quills quivered as I ate it............
  25. And the meeting is between 5.00 and 6.00pm - that's a great time for us workers...............
