  1. Well it's more up and down.
  2. Death by shooting doesn't seem to have gone down though. http://inquest.gn.apc.org/website/graphs/police_shootings.gif
  3. This is not directly relevant but quite interesting: Total deaths in police custody or otherwise following contact with the police, England & Wales 1990-date Type Metropolitan Police Other forces Total Custody 248 689 937 Pursuit 32 278 310 RTI 19 90 109 Shooting 20 32 52 All deaths 319 1089 1408 Source: http://inquest.gn.apc.org/website/statistics/deaths-in-police-custody
  4. Yes, I agree. I'm not holding my breath on this however.
  5. I was told that this was why there was a protest in the first place. The riot has now diverted attention away from the real issue, which is the way that Duggan was killed. Releasing the CCTV of the shooting would clear this up.
  6. Just heard from someone who knows the family of the guy who was shot and they are saying that he was dragged out of the cab and pinned down before he was shot. The area is packed full of CCTV cameras. If the police did nothing wrong, they could release the CCTV and prevent further unrest.
  7. I'm not desperate for anything. I just don't buy the police story. Obviously the looting and arson is appalling and the people who have lost their possessions have my sympathy.
  8. But was he executed? You may think that's no loss, but if it was a police execution and they are lying to cover their tracks, people close to him are not going to be happy. Also it gives every youth with a grudge against the police, justification in their mind to fight back against the police with whatever weapons they have at their disposal.
  9. One of the community leaders just said on BBC News 24 that witnesses saw Duggan shot at point blank range by the police. There had been a groundswell of protest against recent deaths at the hands of the police, including recently, Smiley Culture and the riot may have been sparked when a female protester was batoned by the police. Makes more sense than the police version.
  10. And the police always tell the truth as can ne seen by the De Menezes shooting, obviously! Have you not wondered why the cab driver who was ferrying the victim around has not been asked what happened by the media? He was an eye witness. If his story is very different from the official police story, I imagine local people might discover the discrepancy and get angry about it. This is pure speculation on my part as I have no inside information, but neither do any of you. Swallow the police official line if you choose to, but don't be surprised if others are more sceptical.
  11. Lol. I like your post. I am ready to head for the hills, big changes are on their way!
  12. Hard to know what happened so not sure how you can be so certain DJKQ. I'm glued to BBC News 24. I feel it's the start of something larger and think the ease of communication via BBM and Facebook differentiates any current rioting from rioting of the past. Added to this, the fragility of the US and UK financial systems and possible resulting depression make me feel that things may change beyond recognition in the near future.
  13. Picture please?
  14. Such a shame. He was obviously very talented!
  15. Lol, so handsome my dear xxx
  16. I'm so disappointed. Is your great-grandfather still alive, perchance?
  17. Frankie, I concur.

  19. After all the discussion about Hugo, I thought it would be interesting to see who looks like which famous person. I'll start. This is me:
  20. That's a bit harsh SS40. Not a nice thing to say about someone on a public forum, unless he's inundated you with messagess, which doesn't appear to be the case.
  21. He (Frankie) is quite hot too Rosie. I've seen his pic! You can have Frankie and I'll take H out for a test drive. We could always swap round after :) edited to clarify who is hot!
  22. Hugo has thrown up a smoke screen. No way you were 25 in 1981. Anyway Shaky was shit too. I was more of a Stranglers, Stiff Little Fingers and Shamefully, Sex Pistols fan!
  23. Haha. Gave the game away there! Did you do Merchant of Venice too? I loved Shakespeare. What a contrast to the excruciating Hardy?
  24. Lol, did you do yours in 1981?
