The Pope! I always thought death was the only way you resigned from that job - maybe he wants to spend more time with his family?

    Great Gigs

The B52s are playing the O2 in August - I know they're a bit past it (really?) and I should probably stay away and be happy with memories but... I think i may be tempted...
  4. Loved the jackets and had a couple of them - kinda 'flecked' 50s sports type 2-button things, and the shirts (racks of bowling shirts) - the good stuff was always in the basement as I remember (spent ages going through the imported 'used' 501s) - upstairs was all overpriced raybans, watches and some camo gear - otherwise yeppers, Flip was definitely a reason for going to Long Acre. Remember Johnsons (La Rocka) down and around the corner in Endell St. a little later? Great fake-50s biker jackets and poker shirts.

France woeful - Scotland must have got their dates mixed and thought they were playing England. Despite my prediction for an England win I think their indiscipline may cost them tomorrow... hope I'm wrong though.
  6. There have been empty shops on different parts of the lane for a long time - the old off-licence that became Bossman Wines (was it an Unwins?) was empty for ages before being re-used and Threshers has been vacant for a good while now - there can't be that many businesses falling over themselves to pay the astronomical rent being asked. Anyone know whether the shop next to Wm. Rose has ever been open, I mean ever?* *Apochryphal stories of mad old ladies that haunt the pace will be disregarded

Vive l'engrenage - The Killing but Frenchified: grimier, sleazier, all fags and slapping suspects while shouting at them - like a gallic Sweeney - and Laure Berthaud would kick Sarah Linden's arse.
  8. Not all the veg in ED is over-priced; e.g. one medium fennel bulb in Co-op = ?1.00, same sized bulb but firmer and fresher from SMBS = 55p. You have to shop around. Also good lemons, tomatoes, fresh herbs, olive, garlic, pulses etc. all good prices from East Dulwich Supermarket (opposite East Dulwich Deli).

No. No, it's horse that is becoming the tempting option. Properly regulated and slaughtered with no bute - no point trying to bolt the etc. etc. Let's REALLY join Europe and tuck into a nagburger.

Don't fall for it! It's an elaborate 'lost-wedding-ring' scam.

I only entered so I might have a chance of being in the top three (well four now) :)

    Breaking Bad

I shall have to give this another go. I enjoyed season 1 and started season 2 but got distracted and returned the set unfinished - I liked it but wasn't too bothered by having missed the rest. Judging by this thread I should at least give it until season 3 to get properly hooked.

Despite the neigh-sayers feeling they were saddled with galloping pun syndrome I fell it behooves us to revisit the fetlock topic... ...that Lasagne is an anagram of Nag Sale should have warned us from the off. I'm here all week...
  19. Now there's a question - which footballer had the greatest comb-over? Charlton? Ralph Coates? Terry Mancini? WH candidate Pop Robson? And the winner surely is...... Chelsea's John Dempsey for really working it. http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTjO9aHt9XE7yCsNVu38br-cTOqT8wGdBoq31kTNU3HLdG5rv3Y

  23. What reeko said. Sans liver add giblets to onion, celery, carrot, bayleaf, peppercorns, parsley stalks and leek tops (if available) and a little thyme, add water and simmer to make a fine stock for gravy.- Don't chuck the liver - chop and add it to breadcrumbs, softened onion, chopped apples and walnuts (optional), herbs and seasoning for a traditional-type stuffing.

Bribes are, of course, anathema to me but I shall be parked up at Watford Gap Services on Sunday having a Ginsters and should I see a brown envelope in the rear view mirror......
