  1. All the rumours are Moyes but I think he'd struggle. Maybe that's the idea so whoever takes over when Moyes is sacked after one season doesn't have SAF to live up to. Klopp anyone? Personally I'd like to see an OB like Sparky do it - love to see how he'd manage to get them into the bottom three and up for relegation despite their riches etc.

  3. That's nothing - we got the world cup set in the early 70s and my two elder bros were England and Brazil so I always had to be Uruguay. And we never did get the floodlights working.
  4. Jeez calm down Dic/Doc, I was (I thought) poking fun at you. You started the (what until now I thought was) banter with the 'I trust maxxi won't be getting a 5 point start' stuff and I assumed it was all in robust good humour - no need to throw your toys out of the pram. Now that I know better I take it all back. You have never whined (well, except maybe your last post - that is really a bit whiney tbh). Now lighten up.

Don't be a silly boy, I did make a prediction. I predicted that your prediction would be wrong! But to save your blood pressure and knowing that otherwise you may suspect chicanery I will make whatever kind of prediction you think is 'correct', a 'by-the-book' prediction and pm it to Rd(if that's the way you think it should be done), okay? (I expect you to plump for Bayern anyway - personally I think Dortmund will win it - they have a brighter kit - but don't let that sway you).

How's the > relegation fight going? With elan and flair, with never putting the Irons down for a defeat, with always opting for the ludicrous odds of the coupon buster, with - to be honest - no love of settling for safety and mid table mediocrity and, finally, with no whining, carping or questioning the rules. AND with such confidence in providence that my prediction for the CL final is the opposite of whichever team you pick to win. If you want Bayern I'll go for Dortmund and vice versa so there'll be a winner without having to analyse the feck out if it B) Over to you, Dic.
  8. Mick Mac Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Dic ? On the basis of Football Club team-mate nicknaming: Alan Medic (if we accept that anagrams would form no part of the average footballer's thinking) would either be Al (too common in the game - leads to confusion) or Meds or Meddy (would confuse the St John's Ambulance men). Given that the large foreign contingent within the club would pronounce his name Alan Medic - Dic, As in "On your right, Dic!", is all that's left. This will, in time, evolve into "Dicky" and "Dicky Boy!" which some jokers will twist into; Dickie-Bow, Dickie Davies (one from the 62 year old sponge-man), and, if he's lucky, Tricky Dicky. As in "Do you remember when Tricky Dicky blew the Champion's League Final?"

Our boys have reached the final without resort to the shenanigans of "nearest to the overall score" or "whos got the cleanest kit" and such like. We play the beautiful game and have out-scored you at every turn. You're lucky to be in such exalted company. *Practices German National Anthem (with arm movements).

  15. I didn't see it but it sounds like Barca gave up - what a humiliation, BM fans apparently giving it the 'Ol?' treatment as they out passed the Spaniards. Just made Pep's job harder - has he just become the most redundant appointment of next season?

I was in there a few weeks back and the manager said they could no longer afford the licence fee but that he was hoping to set up a byob arrangement - maybe that's proving too difficult and/or expensive too?

I lived in Borough when they closed the main post office there and it was a disaster for local people and businesses. Funny thing is, JB, the Lib Dems, spearheaded by Simon Hughes, led the fight to keep it open - http://www.london-se1.co.uk/news/view/2709 Hughes said - "These are the Crown Post Offices and if you can't persuade the Post Office to keep a post office in Borough High Street, one of the oldest high streets in the country, then I think there's something wrong." Snuggling up to Tories does funny things to a lad eh?

Surely only because of Toulon and his not being available at the start? I think - like Robshaw - he will join the party when the inevitable injuries occur.
