  1. New Nexus can we please have a timeline on what you have posted. My mortgage is based on the US interest rates but is paid in sterling. Back in August 2007 my mortgage had shot up because the Libor rate had increased due to liquidity problems when the bankers couldn't trust each other.

Unfortunately Hugo and Katie do not have the intellectual capacity to understand the financial crisis. Hence why their language reflects little intellect but more in juvenile tone. I can well imagine Christopher Columbus feeling rather pissed off by people claiming to be intelligent when they say "world can't possibly be round and you are bonkers".

Jack Rodwell (can either play at centre back, attacking/defensive midfielder) 2. Ross Barkley (attacking midfield, comfortable in possession and excellent passer with either foot) 3. Emmanuel Frimpong (defensive midfielder) 4. Henri Lansbury (centre midfielder) 5. Raheem Sterling (winger - has that ability where he can dribble either side of a defender. 6. Josh Macceachran (centre midfielder - wonderful passing ability and comfortable in possession) 7. Kyle Bartley (central defender but can play in central midfield as well) 8. Martin Kelly (Right back)
  4. The problems with the England world cup team were as follows 1) their midfield couldn't string a few passes together 2) lack of pace in midfield 3) lack of quality central defenders and goalkeeper 4) leadership I'm convinced that within the next four years we will be seeing some really good young technical English footballers coming through the ranks and playing football in the right way.
  5. Although Arsenal have lost a bit of quality and cofidence, it seems Arsene has improved the team in the right areas. Namely defense and attack. Looking forward to see Wilshire play along with Frimpong. The midfield duo offers more potential than Fabregas & Nasri. A team that plays as a unit tend to play better than a team of individuals.

  7. The Armchair Investor: A Do-it-yourself Guide for Amateur Investors Frankito's favourite book, apparently. ;-) Be wary of city advice though. Eighty per cent of all fund managers fails to beat the FTSE 100 index each year but get their money through charging high management fees. I also agree with Ed on Alvin Hall.
  8. Strangely enough, Straferjack, in another thread you thought I was mikecg. Another banned member.

It just seems to me that a group of people can't win their arguments fairly so thay just try to get the opposition banned by mixing them up with previous banned members. I think this behaviour is wrong. It's dishonest and goes against the forum's t&c.
  10. Katie, you know we met at Laddy Muck's Birthday drinks and your assertion to say I was NN was less than honest. @Hugo - I'm not Rick Channing either.
  11. Go away Katie, you know full well I'm not New Nexus. In fact I shall speak to Laddy Muck about you.
  12. I'm not Nexus or Huguenot. Straferjack is up to his old tricks again, accusing those, who doesn't fit in with his political views, as someone else. There are a number of EDF members that have seen me in person.
  13. Hugo, it's a sign that your juvenile retorts is really a cover for lack of financial understanding. Scylla directed an interesting question towards you and yet failed to give an answer.
  14. Well Hugo, I remember the power cuts in seventies. Also the winter of discontent. Stock trading was suspended during the 911 aftermath. Mobile phone networks were turned off during the 7 July London bombings. This summer we've had the worst riots for a century. So anything is possible. Deep down, I seriously believe you don't know the basics and this harms constructive discussion.
  15. JL is one of the best retailers around though I did have delivery problems with them back in 95. Quite a few staff recognise my face in the Oxford Street as I used to buy my food regularly from their food hall. As an expert shopper I like to shop all over London though.
  16. @hugo, I hope NN would modify his approach as I think this topic is worth discussing. Especially as the economic crisis is not likely to go away any time soon. To understand where NN is coming from, you have to understand the basics. The disparity between the two means that neither parties concern will benefit from the discussions.
  17. An interesting article rom the BBC website Is the world facing fundamental changes?
  18. @maxxi, Southwark has a fascinating history and it would be great if the Irish were recognised for their contribution. But putting in money for a Southwark Irish fete does nothing for the Irish cause.
  19. @Maxxi, Better still, I've actually attended the GLA funded Irish event a couple of times. It's a massive event. I'm sorry if you disagree with my views in that Africans should be represented in their own events. I'm not African so you can rely on the fact that my views are thoroughly objective. According to the attached flyer, the Peckham Rye fete is a community event and not targetted at any particular ethnicity. Enjoy your visit. I'll be in Peckham Rye this Saturday too but playing football.:))
  20. I know a couple of Irish pubs. One in Rye Lane and the other in Nunhead. But in the Cricklewood/Kilburn area there have always been a sizeable Irish community. I've never had the same impression with Southwark though. There is a wonderful Roman Catholic church in the back streets of Peckham. Edited to add the RC church.
  21. Alan Medic Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I bet seeing Phil Lynott in Peckham would confuse > you UDT. He would indeed!!!
  22. @maxxi, I thought the Irish were already catered for by the GLA. The GLA also caters for the Chinese. But I can't see no one catering for the African community. @alan medic, Why? Is he back in Town?
  23. I really don't understand your commotion. All you need to do is to watch the Dispatches programmes and then I'll be delighted to answer questions. Dispatches: How the Banks Bet your Money (part1/2) Dispatches: How the Banks Bet your Money (part2/2)
  24. @Hugo, I think you've proven my point that it's very difficult to have a serious discussion. The person commenting in the Dispatches programmes is a well known corporate financier. He is hardly a journalist is he now, Hugo? He understands the city a great deal more than you do. Dispatches: How the Banks Bet your Money (part1/2) Dispatches: How the Banks Bet your Money (part2/2)
  25. @hugo, I think it's worth watching because I'm not convinced you understand the scale of the financial disaster/risk and makes it more difficult to have a serious discussion. I fisrt watched the programme in 2008 and it also talks about where the next financial crisis would happened. Most people assumes the regulators and financial markets would learn from their lessons but the Dispatches programme explains otherwise in that there are no mechanisms in place to stop the next financial bubble. The super rich are taking huge bets and taking the huge gains while taxpayers, like ourselves, are paying for the losses. The question then becomes how much more able the taxpayers can cover the losses and at what point society starts breaking down when the country stretches itself to pay for these losses. Normal rules of capitalism doesn't seem to apply to either the bankers or the super rich, in that they are not responsible for their losses.
