  1. When at college, I went to see The Nolans. I still feel soiled.
  2. I think that Sean is the Bruce Banner of the Forum Dont make him angry ...
  3. Using the Ambridge parallax: South Kenton
  4. "Get up that chimney or its no bread and scrape for you"
  5. Her death at such a young age and leaving 2 small children is a tragedy, the fact that she died on Mothers Day makes it even more so as, year on year, that day will be tainted for her sons, something which may hopefully end when they themselves have children and can celebrate again. However, it is and should be a private tragedy. I have tried to separate in my own mind the fact of her death from the hooplah that surrounds it. I find the former sad, albeit a sadness felt by a stranger for the tragic death of any person. I find the latter, a distasteful media circus which yet again demonstrates how low large sections of the media have sunk; sadly driven by the demands of those people that purchase their product. In the end "Jade" was a Branded product. For the press and the society that it tittivates her death was just the latest iteration of that Brand. For her sons her death was the profoundest of losses.
  6. I (like to) think that, given the opportunity, people will be caring to others; however rampant consumerism can rather stifle this. Perhaps the current economic crisis has made many of us reflect on what really matters in life and what really makes us happy.
  7. You can dismiss a pub because they sell pizza Louisa! Given your above statement, you presumably would deride a pub that sold sausage rolls, ham sandiwches, pork scratchings or any other pig derived product. Clearly your preferred option would be a traditional pub with the ladies confined to a well partitioned snug.
  8. BUMP! Its this Wednesday. Would those who would like to come please signify in the usual manner? I suggest an earlier start than last time - 7.30pm at the Surma, 6.30 at the EDT for those that can make it. I will book the table on Tuesday evening.
  9. Strewth Macroban. I have been studying that move for some time and am forced to concede that it is the first example of the Beeching Stratagem that has been seen for nearly 40 years. A BOLD and potentially devastating move indeed. My congratulations, you seem to have succeeded. Maida Vale - safer territory.
  10. Many Congratulations to the Irish, it is good to mix things up. A grand result. England finish on a high (focusing on the result rather than the style of play) and are a respectable second, the Welsh coming in .... 4th. Tee-Hee
  11. I will be in there for 3ish. I have seeds to plant and broad bean to repot. The EDT is the big pub on Goose Green island. All welcome.
  12. Can I come out from under the bed now?
  13. Did they not just throw the rubbish over the fence onto the pile of wood chippings that was the wood? If the person was REALLY community minded they would be standing outside William Rose on rainy days handing out umbrellas. Was it that aging Commie who on occasion stands by Platform 1 trying to sell Socialist Worker, calling me "Brother" and thanking me when I salute him in the prescribed Capitalist manner?
  14. For those of us who are part of the great Rugger Buggery - some of us are meeting at the EDT to watch the rugby tomorrow. Please feel free to join us. Does anybody know if the EDT are doing food tomorrow?
  15. From home - the Banks's Mild Ale of the Wolverhampton & Dudley Brewery In London - Fullers London Pride In Belgium - anything that is sold in a bottle and served in pretty glass with a doylee.
  16. Bought anything from William Rose Played one of the new fangled computer games Watched "The Wire"
  17. Surely just a 40 or a 185 or a 176 to E&C, Bakerloo to Paddington and then the express train? S'alright for you, I have to get there for 5am - now thats a bugger.
  18. Bones is better.
  19. We can still go to BJ - but as a smaller group. The feedback that I have received (from 2 recent Posters) was that the service is rather slow and they would be pushed to deal with 20 of us, if indeed 20 show up. At the beginning of next week I will ask for numbers.
  20. Best steak - El Ceibo in Santa Ponsa, Majorca. A highlight in an otherwise unfortunate resort.
  21. 25 MARCH CHANGE OF PLANS - CHANGE OF PLANS - CHANGE OF PLANS After feedback from some illustrious members of the Curry Club it has been decided by t'Commitee that there will be a change of venue. This is in no way negative feedback re Buddah Jazz, but the common thought was "they wont cope with us all" - the last CC meet attracted 20 people. So, we will revert back to a standard curry house on Lordship Lane and organise a smaller trip to Buddah Jazz for those that want to. I suggest Surma as the alternative to Buddah Jazz.
  22. I saw the film a few days ago and was knocked out by it. A great deal to ponder. I havent read the comic-book, but will now do so.
  23. I have been in there and found them very friendly and informative concerning military history and ephemera. Not any kind ......path.
  24. It would seem that I am more of a Libertarian than Ghandi.
