  1. if Independent means more overpriced substandard offerings like the gree, then I am going to lobby for a McDonalds - just cos its a local business doesnt mean its any "better" than a chain ( no, im not getting started on this one and wont invoke Godwins law, but you know its true ) Giraffe would actually attract people to that side of the green and could possibly get the rank of shops to show a bit of life again. Do people want Italian ? Italian so SO pedestrian - anyway, you have the Gowlett a few metres away that does the best Pizzas in SE London and welcomes families
  2. keep it. I have yet to wait less than 15 minutes in the big LL one Even the great Satan and its hapless servants of international capital - the USA - views its postal service as an untouchable, yet we are happy chop it up at the first opportunity
  3. organic product range means higher profits
  4. whats he got to do with ED ? Ronnie Biggs is ( still ) at deaths door - he celebrates the great train robbery in teh Cherry tree ( apparently ) - maybe a nice statue of the charmless old lag in period sex pistols gear would be more apt that a North African tax dodger and self publicicst ?
  5. Very old news, then again, there was a great deal of hysterical bleating when the owner decided to chuck the towel in - most of the belaqting came form people who had never entered the pubs doors
  6. Do you have a a creche ?
  7. twas always full of lairy scum when i used to go there - have you banned them all ?

  9. I hve soent an hour chuckling at the comments posted in reposnse to the exciting first episode of this travel blog Max 19, hits the road...
  10. As ex brockley, I can say that although most of the comments are fair if blinkered. Brockley may have big houses, but cos its a precious conservation area, you will always have a big trundle to the shops for basics and a very limited supply of decent pubs - a quick half in lewisham or le Croix Nouveaux doesnt compare too well to going to the less wanky places on LL. if you think the various bleating worthy types in ED get on your tits, then you really should experience the arschegeigers that act as the self imposed guardians of the Brockley conservation area. Brockley = big houses, but a nigher than average level of twats

A reasonable and sensible response! walk away - knowing that you can escape and start again , but she is stuck in her own loathed skin for the rest of her petty joyless life
  13. dont do anything traceable or malicious like spiking her food - its assualt should she make an issue of it find out her email address - home and work if at all possible - and phone numbers - mobile is best go to your desk and print out lots of thoses little 16 to a page stickers with her phone number on a,nd then liberally stick them in toilets / phone boxes / buses / etc get a man friend to leave them on toilet doors in stations or suchlike - anywhere with a transient population is best for turnover ensure the short tantalising message on the sticker offers specalist services 24/7 water sports blah blah blah Update detials should mobile number change and continue ad nauseum. sit back & enjoy

  15. Russian aims at the end of WW2 were motivated with border security and survival American Aims can be summed by by the ethos of the later Truman doctrine

Um young text book lefties often lack the capacity to think atround the subject too much and are likely to spew out the usual old toss thatyve read in some pamphlet somewhere ( bless them ) for one of my degrees - 'Merican Politix - I worked a great deal on the IWW/ Wobblies history in the NW states - remarkably interesting and still is to this day - remarkably few Brits grasp that teh US isnt one country nor is is the fabled melting pot of yore - it is more akin to lumpy undercooked stew , bound together by a common sauce Its easy to critisise teh yanks, as they do line themsleves up for it in many ways and we are Brits after all - thats what we do , but its not racism, cos 'Mericans are not a trace - it is stereotyping, but we are all guilty of that - see comments using Chav or Pikey terms in various threads.
  17. I dont think its sneering Anti americanism itself - I love the country/ environment and lived there for a while , but detest its foreign policy of late and am a bit critical of its cultural imperialism And to be honest, the US does sorta line itself up for critisism and piss taking doesnt it ?

  19. Its an interesting one - even with the situation in Kosovo, the face of it was intervention to avoid slaughter, the reality harks back to WW2 spheres of influence and sticking two fingers up at the other (wasting away ) superpower
  20. Can anyone suggest an event where intervention occured for "good" rather for some side issue that would benefit the " force for good " power ? Im racking my brains and am struggling to find one that is straight........
  21. Its a cynical ploy to get you to book places like the ghastly Chardon and shopw how much you love your partner by forking out tons of cash on overpriced frippery Just say no save yer cash and go out next week when its cheaper and less crowded.
  22. yes i know blah blah blah Snorky and his stuck record You dont have to respond
  23. Once more, local decision making has been hijacked by people/ businesses with an agenda. See also Cafe nero see also the Black Cherry bleating about not getting room to annoy the neighbours into ther early hours see also brown & green or whatever they are called, their heart wrenchingly emotive blog about sewer problems brings me to tears, it really does When will people ever learn how easily their views can be shaped & used for by those who will do anything to increase/ maintain their profit
  24. GH is a dump im not pleased to say the people who did this must have been pretty desperate - its a big risk for little reward.
  25. Maceys at opening time is full of jetlagged brits eager to get going, as theyve been awake since 4AM Avoid. The statue of Liberty is crap. Avoid There is as much of a reason to go to Times square as there is to go to leiecester Square. Avoid The bargain electrical goods shops that litter The TImes Square are anything but a bargain Avoid apart from that, wander about on foot , go to Brooklyn , go up to the top of Long Island.
