  1. My parents have lived there for 40 years (as have most of their neighbours) and they've never had any problems

  3. My dad is one of the main organisers. It's always a fantastic weekend :o)
  4. I saw The Libertines there in 2003 - ace night!

  6. Yep, buy one get one free isn't it? http://www.specsavers.co.uk/cgi-bin/strudwick.sh/s?langid=1&pfmt=1&siteid=39&pname=options/tints.html
  7. The pool at Hornimans was fantastic, as was the one in Peckham Rye and the Peckham Rye Lido. We went to Dulmore (Dulwich & St Thomas More) youth club in the church in Bassano Street, as well as summer clubs in Waverly School and Gumboots in Darrell Road. Picking blackberries in Peckham Rye Park was a favourite summer pastime. I hate the attitude of parents today who think the street aren't safe for kids. I'm 29 and led a pretty idyllic childhood in East Dulwich, not too many years ago. There were always muggers, crackheads and drunks arounds - it's hardly a new phenomenon.
  8. Does anyone remember when 'Chamber Gay' started to appear all round East Dulwich and Peckham Rye in the early 1980s? But that was graffiti of course. There are some of those old ad signs on houses in Peckham High St, near Manzes. There must be a book with London ones in? I also love murals on the sides of houses like Hokusai's Great Wave in Coldharbour Lane and the Jackson Pollack one that used to be in Queens Road.

Agreed. I always used to do this with Carroll Cars on Barry Road (I think they have a different name now) and they were always there to meet me when I landed x
  10. Most people I know get the 78 from the King's Arms to Tower Hill then the DLR x
  11. The government is apparently worried about childhood obesity but gives schoolchildren free travel so they fill up the buses for 2 or three stops instead of walking + the people who need to travel to get to work can't actually get on the buses! It makes me so angry, I tell thee! (6)
  12. I used to get the P13 between Underhill Road and Streatham every day when I went to college in Norwood and found it fine. P buses are meant to go round the back streets and not take the direct routes of other buses.
  13. I went to St Ursula's Convent in Greenwich and it was fab! As there are/were no decent state secondary schools in Dulwich my primary class of 30 from St Anthony's ended up going to 15 different secondary schools
  14. I haven't been there for food for about 5 years since it was run by Australians/for Australians and they decided to call every dish by a 'kooky' Aussie nickname - urgh. I do however know family of now sadly deceased residents who still come over for the Irish Festival who love it as a B&B
  15. I tried to buy a place here but eventually got turned down... woe is me. At best they'll get a Tesco Metro. There's no chance of an M&S Simply Food. Have a look at the SE1 Forum for similar discussions re Tabard Square x

The best night I had there was One Word Improv with Eddie Izzard, Stephen Frost, Suki Webster and Neil Mullarkey. x
  17. Forest Hill baths used to be good but I haven't been there for years
  18. http://www.tfl.gov.uk/assets/downloads/ell-route-map.pdf I believe this is the planned extension of the East London line by 2010 and then it will link up with London Overground at Clapham Junction and Highbury & Islington to create an orbital London network.
