  2. What's the point in insisting that Le Moulin was popular and there was nothing wrong with their business model, if someone else can (presumably) make the place work with 2015 rents? I dare say that the new place won't be aimed at people like Louisa... but then, not many restaurants are these days...
  3. Le Moulin was a lot of things, but "a great restaurant" is pushing it a little, surely?
  4. The Mothercare closed? Crap. I have zero interest in "large packs of frozen meat"! Maybe if I was a bodybuilder or school caterer...
  5. EDT is always a safe bet... good beer selection, nice atmosphere most of the time. It's the only place which I've been consistently happy to drink in since I first moved to the area. The Flying Pig is offering something different to most other places locally (i.e. a pretty large selection of craft keg and bottled beer, as well as a few cask ales), so it's nice to have it there. Last time I went in, my impression was that they needed to work on the pricing of the beer and the quality of the grub to pull in more customers, but nothing that can't be fixed.

  7. Crossrail might be beneficial if you're near an overground station, as you'll be able to pick it up at Whitechapel. Quicker than the Picadilly Line, and much cheaper than Heathrow Express. But frankly, I'd still take a taxi.

I think we've already established that Lou confused the new coffee place (Old Spike Roastery) for a bbq place. I must admit that when I first saw the sign going up, I thought it said "rotisserie", and was rather excited for 3 seconds.
  9. EDT > Flying Pig > Gowlett > Montpelier > Four Quarters > Rye Wax > Bar Story Could miss out Flying Pig (if you don't like empty bars), or Four Quarters (if you don't like arcade games or prison-cell themed toilets)
  10. I wonder if our councillors would be able to push Southern/Network Rail for a written promise that once the works are complete, our London Bridge service will revert to every 10 minutes during the morning and evening commutes?
  11. Fri/Sat night from 10 onwards you get lots of young 'uns milling around the station area (presumably making their way to the Bussey Building). But it's not like it's become the new... er.. anything, really.
  12. Will take your word on the beers..
  13. Louisa Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I noticed today a new barbecue and craft beer > restaurant/bar about to open in the row of shops > next to the recently opened smartly dressed estate agent Not sure about a craft beer bar, but there is a fancy coffee shop opening called "Old Spike Roastery" along that stretch.
  14. The problem with Shoreditch is that since around 5 years ago, crowds of pissed up pillocks from Essex have been descending en masse every Fri/Sat night. Peckham isn't quite in that bracket yet (and it still only has a handful of bars).
  15. You really think the young Peckham blow-ins are rowdy? You must have led a sheltered life!
  16. I've been called worse things...
  17. It's one thing having a properly trained and registered guide/assistance dog in a flight, which happily sits there. But having some mutt leaping around, barking and shitting on the floor... don't think I'd be particularly happy.
  18. Yeah definitely wet wipes instead of showers at festivals. Brushing teeth is doable with just a small amount of bottled water. Can't be doing with hippies and crusties though.
  19. The Cheese Block - new band featuring Alex James and Kele Okereke
  20. New Years Resolutions - 90s American indie rock, complete with brown trousers and lack of stage presence My Dog Minton - Two-Tone era ska Bipolar - new John Zorn / Mike Patton project

  22. Can't say I loved 'Extras', but there were certainly some fun moments... Ross Kemp and Vinnie Jones totally taking the piss out of themselves.. David Bowie singing his "chubby little loser" song.

  24. He set his stall out pretty early to be fair...
