As in "and forgive us > our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us ..." Maybe it's because I'm not a Christian, but I don't see why somebody deserves forgiveness just because they're dead. Forgiveness needs to be earned - and no, jumping off a cliff does not count in my book. History is littered with nasty characters not worthy of our forgiveness. It's also wrong to view him as a passive consumer of this material. I would assume that much of this content wouldn't be made if there were no paying customers. He was a paying customer.
  2. There are two Tescos in Kennington..

There are often two sides to a story, and there may well be mitigating circumstances - but the fake recommendations would appear to be irrefutable.
  4. I've done a loft conversion in a flat. First thing, there is no such thing as "permitted development" in a flat, so the plans will need to be submitted for full planning permission if there are to be any external changes (i.e. a dormer). Second thing, most builders will tell you that the council is unlikely to grant planning permission for a full width dormer, and will suggest building a smaller 2-3m dormer instead. They may well be right... but on the other hand it could be worth using a local architect to draw up plans and submit them, as they may be more willing to try their luck. And if you are only able to get permission for the smaller extension, then the architect should be more adept at making the best use of the available space. You also need to check that you definitely own the loft - if you're a lease holder, your landlord might insist that you buy it from them.
  5. How about one of these?

    Greece...

Not convinced Alexis Tzipras (sp?) is the safest pair of hands - but you certainly can't blame the Greek people for wanting radical change.
  7. Perhaps one of the local kebab vendors would be interested.
  8. Alex, so sorry to hear what happened... having building work done in your home is stressful at the best of times, it must have been an awful experience. And peachy, in some ways you had a lucky escape, but still must have been incredibly frustrating being let down and ripped off like that. I hope this guy gets nailed.
  9. monica - don't worry, the chances of Nando's coming are zilch. But I think it's fine... chicken and chips for a reasonable price.
  10. I agree that they're fairly bog standard... not architectural gems... but nevertheless, I think it's a great shame to tear down london's period housing.
  11. The dormer is probably the biggest part of the job, so doubt you'll save that much over a full conversion. Also depends whether you already have sufficient structural steels across the width of the house.

    App!!!

I've got a great idea for a mobile app. DulwichFox restaurant review-o-matic.
  13. My prediction was based on a poor run (by his standards) last season. Obviously we all know he's capable of winning more grand slams. Like I say, happy to be proved wrong.
  14. Fox - as has been mentioned more than once - you are talking about the US recipe. The UK recipe is very different. Also, the people who pay a premium for organic, locally sourced yada yada generally don't eat in McDonald's. You've missed the mark...
  15. DaveR - I know this is stating the obvious, but housing's kind of essential, isn't it? There's a pretty strong case for not leaving such things purely to market forces..

Why is religious belief more important than people who have actually arrived at their morals through independent thought?
  17. Any precious metal is a complete waste of money (unless you're investing). I wear a ?30 wedding ring... and proud of it!

    App!!!

Are you offering to put up the money for it?
  19. No no... he meant the Ivy House is terrible and we should all avoid it! Especially the rubbish folk gigs!
  20. ernesto Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > BTL are IO Not necessarily. Repayment BTL mortgages are not all that rare. But yeah... if you can make it work so that the income repays the capital in 20yrs or whatever, then you're laughing... its why it was such an attractive prospect for such a long time. But not sure how anyone who's got into the game recently could make it work.
  21. Totally unsuitable location for large commercial premises. Better off as flats.
  22. Get creative and up-cycle them into lovely furniture and lifestyle accessories.
  23. Erm... it's ebay... it's an auction. ?11.50 is currently the highest bid.
  24. Probably just because it's small... and you did want something small...
  25. I would suggest that the film has a higher place in public consciousness than it really deserves...
