They go to a pub in East London, and talk about the "4 Bs". Beards, Bikes, Beer, Brooklyn. Am I wrong?

Any disdain is probbaly because most of us on here are of an age where we no longer feel the need to conform to some kind of fashion uniform, so we look down on others that do... especially when in some cases they're almost as old as us.

My attempt at a description would be someone who follows a certain type of fashion (the stereotype would be skinny jeans, check shirt.. or maybe mismatched "vintage" clothing). Bushy beard and tatts. Is of a certain age (post-student to mid-thirties). Prefers bottled IPA to lager. Works for themselves rather than "the man", quite possibly related to street food or "dirty" burgers. Or in digital/social media. Talks about Brooklyn and Berlin a lot. Music tastes tend towards the folky side of "alternative", or esoteric non-danceable electronic music. Predominantly - but not exclusively - a white middle-class phenomenon.

  8. Next time, try to take the number plate!
  9. Main problem would occur when the air-con gets turned off at 6:30pm... working late, unable to strip down to shirt only... sweltering, imprisoned within the mock-shirt-jumper.
  10. I wonder how long it would take people to notice if I started rocking the "mock shirt" look in the office?
  11. In a similar vein to the shirt-jumper... the t-shirt which looks like it has another t-shirt underneath it. But is actually a single garment. Stupid.
  12. Went once, it was fine but not exactly exciting. Nothing you haven't had a hundred times before elsewhere. I think these days people are looking for something more interesting than generic pizza and pasta before parting with their cash.
  13. Would have been possibly too young in the mid-80s to know what was classy and what wasn't. Hell, I still can't figure it out now. People still have dinner parties, but they just call it "dinner" instead.
  14. I think if you keep it before 9pm or so, and only do it 5 or 6 times a year, then it seems pretty reasonable to me. Much less annoying than a party that goes on until 3am, or a dog that won't stop barking, day in day out.
  15. They are generally sold in the asbolute crappest shops... the likes of Next and Top Man (and that's coming from someone who has pretty much zero interest in clothes/fashion).
  16. I don't agree so much... I suspect it's mainly a sign of a rampant property market, which harms more people than it benefits.
  17. I have also emailed in. I think we can all understand that many surgeries have waiting lists for appointments these days. But we should not have to accept a situation where it is almost impossible to make an appointment without turning up on their doorstep at 7:30am and begging.
  18. The word "hubby".
  19. So partly because it costs 20% more to manufacture. And partly because bars feel they can get away with a bigger markup on keg beer.

I don't even understand why this association between Russell Brand and youth culture was made in the first place...

    Only a small one.
  24. AbDabs - I was referring to what the planning dept might consider acceptable, not necessarily what is structurally sound. Also... your load % is probably off, given that these extensions tend to be timber frame clad with tiles.

Afterwards had a couple of pints of cask ale... an Oakham and a Thornbridge I think... for a very reasonable price, so it balanced out. But.... I just prefer keg beer. Don't know why it seems to be so much more expensive.
