  1. I liked one Arcade Fire song (Ready To Start) and didn't mind one Mumford song (the one that goes "and I will change my ways"). I mean a good song is a good song - whether it's played by a Canadian in fancy dress, or a posh Englishman with a banjo. But neither band are really my bag.
  2. Surely it is only a small number of highly vulnerable individuals who don't have the ability to figure out for themselves what their house is really worth (or have people who can help them with this). Of course I have sympathy for these people. But if it's simply a question of falling for sales patter (or worse still, celebrity endorsements) then I have very little...
  3. It's just a matter of mutual respect and tolerace. Try to teach your kids to respect dogs but not be afraid of them. Train your dogs not to approach strangers or jump up.
  4. These companies rarely buy the property themselves, they're essentially an agency/broker for cash investors. Without doubt unscrupulous. But I find it hard to muster sympathy for people daft enough to fall for it.
  5. Oh I see. Yes, the price is within the bounds of what most people would consider "normal". If you don't like their food then fine, but making out that the prices are extortionate is just stupid boring trolling.
  6. ?5 for cod plus ?1.50 - ?2 for chips... so exactly what Sea Cow charges for takeaway then!

Cant remember the name Dulwich Fryer, I think you mean. And it is good (at least used to be, I haven't been since the owner changed). I'm sure it is a bit cheaper than ?6.75 for cod and chips, but no so much as to make SC look outrageous.
  8. Where can you get fish and chips (eat in) for under ?6?
  9. No point pretending the same speed is appropriate for all roads. 20mph (at the very max) is appropriate for parked up residential streets. 30mph is perfectly reasonable for Old Kent Rd, Sydenham Hill, etc. Should we all be driving at 20mph on the A20 too? How about the M1? After all, a young child could potentially step out into the road. THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!!!

Yep, Jaipur was the ?2.40 vs ?4 one. Sierra Nevada is ?1.75 in the supermarkets and over ?3 in HBB (I guess that's another one customers ask for). Didn't intend this to turn into a dig at your shop because I do like it, and have used it. Was just a bit shocked at the difference in price compared to supermarkets. Will continue to pop in now and again for one or two bottles, but get my regular tipples elsewhere. A reasonable compromise, I think.
  11. We got a Bosch dishwasher and I hate it... can't fit in tall glasses at all. But maybe other models are better...
  12. IMO - Sea Cow fish is normally good, chips not so great (not crispy enough and too "firm"). But the prices are really not that bad. ?6.75 for takeaway cod and chips is maybe ?1 more than normal... a little pricey, but hardly staggering. ?9 for eating in is also OK - cheaper than most pubs and almost certainly a larger portion. Also a whole grilled Seabass... ?10.75 takeaway or ?12.50 eat in... not expensive.
  13. Yes I already saw that!
  14. Looks like actually finding it will be an adventure in itself.
  15. Oh, cask. Never mind!
  16. I think when the official tickets come on sale, cheapest will be around 1K USD. So that's alright, then.
  17. The tickets currently being offered are not official... they're via shady brokers. But they range from ?3K to ?16K for ringside.

    20 mph!!!

Then maybe what it needs are some proper islands to make crossing safer.

    20 mph!!!

Just don't see why 20mph along Sydenham Hill would be necessary. It doesn't get parked up along there (in fact isn't most of it double yellows?) so pedestrians have good visibility of oncoming traffic, and drivers don't have to worry about people darting out between parked cars. To apply the same speed limit as parked up narrow residential streets, or busy streches of shops makes no sense at all.
  21. Actually for a while she was one of my favourite new-ish posters (maybe because of the directness coupled with some smart put-downs). Not so much after recent comments about fathers/children.
  22. I kinda liked Declan/Alan and he was given a bit of a hard time over curryclubgate. Is that why he left? Maybe the curry club thread would be better suited to the "what's on" section?

    Breaking Bad

Think that part of it was poorly explained in BB, but my assumption was that he was on Gus' payroll, and did odd jobs for Saul on the side. I also assumed that Mike was the one who put Saul/Walter in touch with Gus in the first place.

Tuco and Mike both aged a lot... surprised the makeup/fx department couldn't rustle something up.
