TBH Camberwell Cars charged ?7 from my place to Kings, which is a slightly shorter journey than North Cross Road (Peckham postcode), so it's not much different. It's a lot of money, but consider how many jobs they do a day, how much it costs to run a car and pay for petrol, insurance, etc... and how much cut the agency will take... I don't think they're exactly coining it in.

Depends on your reason for doing it, I suppose. Taekwondo or boxing are probably better for aerobic fitness. Jiu-jitsu/MMA undoubtedly more valuable for self defence!

Pibe - at the Town Hall Hotel? Yes it is a stunning building/refurb. The bar used to be associated with the Viajante restaurant, but when that closed the bar changed too. Like I say, not had a chance to go yet, but the reviews are rather good!

I've heard the Peg & Patriot (Town Hall Hotel in Bethnal Green) is good... original/quirky cocktails with their own on-site distillery. (although I've not personally been there since its former incarnation)

"Where to put it" is the main barrier to getting a super-large TV in one of these victorian houses. A unit in the bay window is ugly and a waste of space. Above the fireplace is also ugly, and gives a terrible viewing angle. The alcove beside the fireplace can work, but you probably can't fit in much more than a 40", and placing for stereo speakers is awkward.

Turkey can be good - the dark meat is anything but bland! The breast meat can be awful though without plenty of butter/bacon/basting. My choice would be a goose AND a rib of beef.

Complaining about swimming in the wrong lane is fair enough, but complaining about people doing backstroke, or splashing too much? Seriously?

F&H is great, we feel lucky to have it as our local butcher. As PGC says, nothing seems to be too much trouble for these guys. The Butchery is good too (got some great steaks from the Bermondsey Spa Terminus branch on Saturday), but the name still bothers me! Butchery is the name of the activity/practice/occupation, not the establishment. It's like calling a school "The Teaching".
