  1. Been watching House of Cards. Only managing it in 20-30 minute chunks, but I get the impression each episode is meant to be a bit more "self contained" than some other stuff...

Was it a case of: "Let's all chip in for x's meal, it's their birthday after all!" - or - "You don't mind paying for my meal, do you? Aww Thanks!" The former doesn't bother me, especially as I inevitably won't have bought a present (or probably not even a card). The latter... does that even happen?
  3. A lot of people said the last series got very dark... but for me the last series is where it all started to get really ridiculous, so I didn't find it as engaging as the earlier episodes.

A Fullers pub would be alright in my book.
  7. Yes that's the one I was thinking of. It could be a really amazing house, but it will be a nightmare to sell on. You're talking about spending hundreds of thousands refurbishing a house, which you may end up having to let go for a knockdown price. But if you really love the place, maybe worth getting a thorough structural survey (i.e. not the type the banks offer for a few hundred quid) to establish whether the underpinning is adequate and whether there's any signs of current/recent movement. And then try to find out what price the vendor is realistically hoping to get.

  10. Maybe you're the only one who reads all the articles about hookers.

So come 2028, eastern European labourers won't be the only ones looking for jobs in the B&Q car park. 12. Yeah nice post by MrDude, and I'm sure there's no need to apologise for anything. I was wondering, do people ever kill two birds with one stone and treat ramadan as a way to lose a few kilos? Or is it more common to binge on fine food in the permitted window?
  13. The link between hookers/punters and kids getting hassled on their way to school just seems incredibly far fetched to me. Ignoring the possibility that the OP was just a hilarious wind-up... tbh I have no strong feelings either way on prostitution as long as nobody's coerced into anything. But surely in the age of the internet this kind of stuff can remain behind closed doors and nobody else need be any the wiser.
  14. Steve Jobs? Visionary? Hmmm....
  15. Yeah Germany were on top form last night, but remember they've had a few close calls in the tournament. Either Argentina or Netherlands seem capable of giving them a run for their money on the day.

There was one a while ago aimed at beer drinkers. Spend 2hrs in a west end bar trying beer and giving your feedback, and get paid a few quid! (I did contact them, but it was too early in the evening...) But whatever your take on market research, it's not really a good place to air your grievances with skincare products! Hope this doesn't put you off using the forum, lh20202. As far as I'm concerned if your client gets their data and a few local residents earn a few quid, everyone's a winner.
  17. Maybe not safe for work that, pinecone. Maybe not safe for home, either!
  18. I can only assume that blind panic set in after the second goal.
  19. Seems that Brazil responded by rushing forward every time one of their guys got the ball, resulting in a huge empty space at the back. Can't imagine Netherlands or Argentina (or anyone, really) doing the same.

When a smartphone - almost any smartphone - struggles to last from morning to night with moderate usage, there's surely still some way to go. Walk before you run.
  21. I think we can all agree that homosexuality is not related to peadophilia. I don't see why bullying amongst boys with an element of sexual degradation can't be described as "homoerotic"... but I can agree to disagree on that one.
  22. If you'd been indulging in a dangerous activity all day long and emerged without any injury whatsoever, then painfully stubbed your toe while climbing into bed with a mug of horlicks and a good book... that would be ironic. I think.
  23. PT - you responded to a reference of fagging in public school, with an accusion of homophobic language. I think even you can admit that you got the wrong end of the stick there...
  24. Yeah... not sure I'd listen too carefully to what those guys manage to utter between tokes.
  25. Is it really directly related to Crossrail? Seems like a purely commercial decision from the landlord as far as I can see.
