  1. Remote self-destruct. Preferably with an explosive charge large enough to take out the theiving scum with it.
  2. My TV is also Freeview HD compatible, but the signal never really seems strong enough to view it properly... it keeps cutting out, even when the non-HD channels are pretty much OK. Ended up getting Virgin.
  3. Don't invest in equities, unless you really know your stuff. Look at the FSTE/DAX/S&P charts over the last 10 years... there's no real growth there, only cyclical movements. Although I am by no means suggesting that you should put your money into property either - especially if you are expecting good appreciation.
  4. Of course, I totally agree that the problem is the criminals, not the victims. I would never use the phrase "what do you expect", or anything vaguely similar. Saying that people should take sensible precautions is completely different from suggesting the victim is the one at fault.
  5. I am not suggesting accepting a culture of bullying (actually it sounds more like robbery to me). Of course I agree that the authorities need to take it seriously and pursue the criminals. But at the same time, the proliferation of children carrying very expensive phones has surely catalysed the problem. Does your use of single quotes around 'problem' mean that you don't agree that violent street robbery is a 'problem'?
  6. > doesn't matter what they are carrying they still get targeted That's true in a way, but the number of people carrying expensive phones has increased the problem of street crime. If kids didn't carry a phone (or only had cheap basic phones), then less kids would be mugged. Simple. It's all very well saying that innocent people shouldn't have to change their behaviour because of thugs and criminals - and you'd be right - but that doesn't help the problem. This is London, you have to be realistic about the kind of people you're going to come across.
  7. Dogs don't need coats, so doesn't this basically amount to "dressing up" your dog? http://s4.thisnext.com/media/largest_dimension/7760DEDC.jpg
  8. Do you think the rest of us don't read the news, or something?
  9. But as Huguenot says, most people would just piss it away within days. I make no apologies for being cynical.

  11. Yeah, I read that he looked absolutely awful in the fight. He was probably very weight drained - similar to Oscar De La Hoya when he fought Pacquiao, except Toney managed to keep his "spare tyre"! A great boxer in his day, but these days he is a poor excuse for an "athlete". He has to retire, before he gets permanently injured.
  12. Seems like every other thread turns into a daft debate on whether the OP is offensive or not. Some people are way too sensitive. Stop crying wolf, and reserve your energy for those who really ARE offensive and prejudiced.
  13. No no... just pointing out that it wouldn't help the UK economy much if it was all spent in Faliraki and Tenerife...
  14. This has got to be a wind-up. It's just too ridiculous to be genuine.
  15. Just get the train. The walk from London Bridge is 20 mins max. Might be worth hopping on a bus at London Bridge if it's outside of rush hour and the queue isn't too bad. Or it's raining.
  16. Give everybody 3K? Most people would probably spend it on a holiday! Might help the poor old Greeks though.
  17. Boilers all failing at the same time is not a coincidence... people don't tend to turn their heating on until the winter, and winter is just starting (although it is unseasonably warm, so nobody's dying of hypothermia quite yet!) Silverfox - council tenants don't pay for their own home repairs. The delay does seem unacceptable, but it is prudent to inspect and attempt to fix the boilers before replacing. And since when did the council get anything done quickly?
  18. I wouldn't if I were you - seems a bit antisocial.
  19. There's absolutely no way you can convince me that people get staffies because they're good with children. If you were going to get a dog for that reason, you wouldn't get one which was bred for an exaggerated fighting instinct and a powerful bite. It just doesn't add up. I can understand taking in a rescue dog out of compassion, but I can't think of any other legitimate reason for owning one.

I'm not a fan of the CPZ proposal either, but to suggest James Barber has a personal agenda is a bit cheeky. I'm guessing that you're against it because you run a local shop... which is a good reason, but it doesn't automatically mean the whole community is on your side.

  22. The first lot of trick-or-treaters nearly gave me a heart attack... for some reason I was 100% sure it was my wife at the door. Anyway, after they'd finished laughing at me (fair enough really), I gave them some cakes, and they were very polite and well-behaved. Didn't see any little scrotes around at all, although there were a few smashed-up pumpkins along Fenwick Rd.
  23. Oh, I know it's not a big deal to get there. I just find it hard to believe that a bus to FH followed by Overground is quicker than just getting on the train to London Bridge. But then, I know that a lot of ED is not very close to ED station, either. Each to their own, I guess.
  24. You missed out Burns/Katsidis! Burns/Katsidis, Groves/Smith, and Chisora/Olubamiwo are all on BoxNation, which is available on Sky or online. Yep, a great weekend of boxing, but on paper, most of those would appear to be pretty one-sided, except Toney/Lebedev... how that one goes is anyones guess...
  25. If you just want a simple site (no dynamic content or database), I'd suggest doing it yourself. You could consider learning HTML, which in the long run will be a more useful skill than the various tools available.
