  1. Because we live in London there is even more reason to accept that we are surrounded by others and therefore should make a special effort not to disturb those around us....why is my desire for calm less important than someone else's desire for music, especially in this day and age when technology allows you to listen to your hearts content without anyone else hearing at all....sorry but I just think it's ignorant egotism...and on the contrary, if you want to blast your music out at any time of the day then that's when you should be moving to the middle of nowhere so no one else has to put up with it.
  2. Still contact the noise people, they aim to get to you within the hour and will advise you if you are worried they may catch a 'quiet' moment....It will probably mean stating a diary.
  3. DYC has already explained that they are interested in focusing on the schools in the area that the activists in the group are involved in, which seems fair enough. They have also suggested that those parents from other schools may also want to get involved in the group (or form a separate one) thus expanding the scope of its work/campaign which again seems fair enough?....
  4. I would try the asylum centre at top of Barry rd...
  5. http://walterstaekwondo.com/ does an adult class on Thurs eve I think at The church on the corner of Heber Rd/Lordship Lane.....he's a lovely, committed bloke, first class is free so you could just give it a go. We had the gradings yesterday (my boys do the kid's classes) and the adult group looked like a great supportive mixed bunch who were enjoying their, mainly new, hobby!
  6. Go to Southbank/festival Hall. Appearing Walls fountain, sandpit and poetry room on 5th floor....last weekend they also had under fives workshops.....usually something on....and going early means miss crowds x
  7. Great post - love seeing skills swaps work.....
  8. Have completed it but think not just clicking through makes people defer and ultimately not get round to completing it...you might get more responses once it's click through - wish I could help...someone on here will know x
  9. Does anyone know how to turn the survey into a click through link? Easier for people to act...
  10. Hooray it was!....
  11. I hope so we're planning to go there now?!....just assumed it would be....
  12. Sjf1 moved next to a shop - a restaurant with the potential for increased noise and intrusion of privacy is a massive change and hopefully her objection will be taken seriously. Sjf1 I strongly recommend you talk to your neighbours (or post them letters) and between you support each other in posting objections. There may be people who rent nearby, they too can object but not realise they have a say. Have also pm'd you.
  13. Amott road nursery do mornings...
  14. I think neighbours should be VERY WARY of (from memory) a rear elevation roof terrace and street table space.....Can't see how the council could allow a business to do this right next to housing...
  15. Have pm'd you....
  16. Definately stick with your nearest if it is a good school and you like it, especially as it will be for the full term too.
  17. Belgo's nr Donmar theatre...kids menu and buzzy cellar atmosphere....
  18. Went to the Diana memorial playground too where they say the water is only put on in the middle of summer.....SUCH a shame....brilliant designs ruined by someone thinking it doesn't matter leaving the water out...ergh
  19. Have contacted police and it was on their stolen list....hopefully some consolation to its' owner that it's been found...
  20. If you feel that there are issues then you should make an official complaint to OFSTED which they will and should investigate.
  21. Signed....there may be more important things but it only takes a few minutes. Having 10 days flexible holiday dependent on your child attending regularly and on time the rest of the term is a mature way of giving families flexibility. You don't have to use it but I feel strongly that it is my right as a parent to decide whether a few absences, pre-arranged, are of benefit for my children and family.
  22. I don't think Bessemer will know what the liklihood is as it's intake is very different this year...a very large proportion put it down as a first choice unlike a few years ago so they will not have experience of how many of this intake end up not taking the place....I would think you're still in with a shot at some point though...but would give up on the others!
  23. Took some stuff today and haven't ever had a donation so gratefully received.....some of my stuff included excess soap, creams, shampoos etc which were wasting away in the bathroom, so don't forget to have a clear out there too! Nancy gave me an updated number as the other one isn't getting a great reception inside the building: 07920 807521 So this is the one to use from now on.......
  24. Although it may be fun to glance up at one from the road occasionally when passing, my guess is that for someone it wasn't what they wanted to see out of their window every day....which is fair enough isn't it? Had assumed they were temporary for the festival anyway?
