  1. I think you are wrong there Matt (lashing out?). We have plenty of goal scorers on the pitch, we just need them to score goals. Rooney isn't our only outlet especially if Owen can find his shooting boots quickly and I think a combo of Owen and Berba will work well if they get going early on. I read this morning that the yanks are only letting Rafa have ?1.5M to spend, he may as well tell them to keep it shouldn't he? That's not going to strengthen a squad unless you are very lucky. I think you are right that you'll look more rounded when you get a few players back and, as I keep saying, when Torres and Gerrard are fully fit.
  2. There's a few round the back streets of London Bridge. The Rose - proper Irish boozer and The Kings Arms here.
  3. Losing Alonso so late on in pre-season was a blow and must have made a big difference which makes the result more understandable. United had two seasons to work out wha to do without Ronaldo and I'm not entirly sure they have got it right.
  4. This City fan seems like a sensible chap: Idiot.
  5. Sounds like he's got the fear. :))
  6. I wasn't having a pop MM. Always got to look on the positive side.
  7. Well MM I actually believe he is a talented player who has been in Ronaldo's shadow for a couple of seasons. He has had a good pre-season as well but we are all entitled to our opinions. You think Arsenal are going to win the league for instance. ;-) I think your list is interesting. The two teams with the biggest on field changes (United and Liverpool) are the two poorest performing clubs on the opening weekend. Not a coincidence I think, it'll take time for both sides to find their new shape. I agree about United being poor for a home game but it's three points and we made chances. Liverpool will start firing when Torres and Gerrard are fully fit.
  8. United didn't look that convincing either. A few flashes and Rooney looked lively and I like him playing as a proper striker but the defence looked shaky at times (something that'll come with getting Vidic back). Owen looked like he needs a bit more fitness but I'm looking forward to seeing him this season and I think the loss of Ronaldo may have given Nani a bit more freedom to do his own thing. I just hope this shoulder injury is sorted out.
  9. Got to say Spurs looked good, lively and attacking. Keane should have had a couple and Lennon looked good. The highlights made Liverpool look a bit at sea (unfair?). Seemed to be Gerrard trying to drag the rest along until Yossi came on. Couple of penalty shouts but hey, you win some, you lose some. Edit: Sorry, forgot to mention Modric. Excellent game.
  10. Well, what a turn up. Didn't see the Liverpool game but it's certainly not the season start they'd have wanted. Still, United have had starts like that and still come back. Spurs and Everton were the two hardest games of the first weekend. I wonder if Burnley will come out all guns blazing on wednesday night as that could be a banana skin for us. Anna, Matt, any analysis? Did you miss Alonso? Sounded like Torres was struggling with fitness, an ankle injury was that right? I'll take a look at MotD tonight.
  11. I have several friends who work on the braodcast side of Sky and I know for a fact they are sh*tting themselves about ESPN getting into the Prem League. The only advanage Sky have is that they run the platform.
  12. Uited all the way. Suprise prediction from me. MM you summed it up, it's not all about goalscoring it's being able to defend to and now Rio's got his holidays out of his system it's a two horse race between United and Chelsea.
  13. Blimey! People think Peckham is dangerous now! ::o

Skwirt, it has to be the blue one. I have just been to the Avon website for a link and it seems they changed the packaging but I think it's this one. The others don't have citronella in them so are no use. This is used by all sorts of very well travelled people including special forces would you believe. It used to look like this.
  15. Ouch. Midlanders are more north than some. :))
  16. I'm hurt Anna. I thought we had something going on...you know one of those love/hate/lust things. Forbidden love between Scouse and Manc. :'(
  17. This from Wikipedia has me slightly worried for BB's safety. Although they are lively, gentle mannered, demonstrably affectionate and sensitive, the [Hungarian Vizsla] are also fearless and possessed of a well-developed protective instinct.
  18. Shame for Rio as he is usually solid. Still, it was only a meaninless friendly. I'm suprised you even noticed it was on Anna, I also notice you didn't put a video of Gareth Barry's screw up on the forum. Hmm, could this be a bias against United players?
  19. Muffins. In some parts of the world you are a married woman! Wiki magic!
  20. Damn MM that's a great line. :))
  21. Don't forget some johnny foreigners wear their wedding rings on the other hand. If she's Hungarian, like her dog, check both hands! :))
  22. Erm, it's a post about football. I would say it has nothing to do with fish..but is very relevant here. :))
  23. Look out for those private out patient ambulances too. I think they are run by Ruskin Private Hire. They drive too close or cut me off at least once a week. They don't seem to be very cycle aware either.
  24. Are you rating Aquilani Anna? I've not seen much evidence to show he's a replacement for Alonso. Still, half my side are crocked so we might struggle against Birmingham this weekend. It seems a trend in recent seasons for at least one newly promoted side to have a good opening game against a top club.
  25. I agree with you on Foster. I think Owen looked ok for the play he got. Chelea are the only team who haven't lost important players this off season and should slide right back into their rythmn. All of us should be worried!
