Sean, I appreciate your guidance re what I can't do. we can get into the semantics if you want, i have explained in previous post what I think people meant (including myself) most people don't start a solid plan with "If I had the guts...." but perhaps that's our distinct interpretation of what constitues a plan. I think you're making the assumption I WOULD have the guts and be able to carry out 'the plan', however that is your assumption not mine, as i think i made clear I do not know I could actually do it and the word 'If' is the give-away indicator you cannot change my view but feel free to pick me up on the style i articulated my thoughts, goo dluck picking it apart

Im not convinced that if I spilled the pint of the chap(s) above who suggested what their reaction may be to the burglar that they would assault me. One is a reaction to an everyday accident which is almost inevitable at some pint in your life and can be resolved with ?3.50. The other is a reaction to a life threatening and traumatic event laid on you by someone of evil intent.

I'm not sure anyone is predicting a 'plan' of what they will do, just empathising with the householder's plight and perhaps concurring with his response. No one knows what they will do on the day but most people have a view on roughly the nature of what their response might be, just like those who reckon they would be sure to follow the law down to the very letter, not applying too much force (but just enough to complete the job) if they were burgled and their family threatened.

so easy to be miles from the situation at hand and say what someone should do when they have just a couple of minutes earlier been scared to death for their own and their families lives, thinking that any moment their own lives could be ended. can you even imagine being scared your kids are going to be killed or hurt by a stranger who means harm and says he means harm. yes the law is very clear and well done for pinting it out, try following it when you are in that situation inches from losing your life. If I had the guts that guy had I am sure I would also be getting 30 months. suspended sentence the burglar gets ! let's rehabilitate the guy, give me a break.

Iraq enquiry - complete waste of time and money
KidKruger replied to silverfox's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Freaky how they even consider Blair to head the 'Federal Europe' group ! I mean they seriously consider this guy who was happy to invade Iraq and even to concoct a big story for doing so. -
Why don't people write books?
KidKruger replied to localgirlwithdreads's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I think there's a big distinction between 'writing a book' (which I take to mean producing a work and somehow making a physical book that you can, for your own satisfaction, call 'a book' ie. a finished work) and 'publishing a book' which has the predictable logistical issues which have been covered at length above. One is about generating work/art for the pleasure of doing it and the other is (or can become) in my opinion a crossover to trying to make it pay. It takes guts to create let alone try and sell your work. I wish more people would get down and create without concerning themselves what everyone else thinks and whether it would 'sell'. So I think more people would write bookds if they perceived 'writing a book' as the act of creating the work and NOT the process of marketing and selling on top of it ie. they were keener to produce the work for the sake of producing / completing it. -

No record shop, apart from the weekend market stall. Hardly anywhere to play pool or snooker. No nightclub ? No different Indian / South Asian restaurants (ie. they are all the same no variety, lik regional Indian).

are you waiting for a royal mail parcel?
KidKruger replied to dulwichquine's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
had a parcel (and note through my door to collect at Silvester Rd sorting office) on 02 Oct. Went on Saturday 10 Oct to collect as was awa previous weekend and work in during week. Got to sorting office at 0855 ( I know they open at 0800 on Saturdays). Sign on door said they were open that day only 0800- 0900, I was lucky. Gave man collection card. He vanished for 5-6 mins. Queue built up. Man comes back. No trace of parcel. "Do you know what the parcel is" ? 'You tell me mate it's on your shelf isn't it ?' "Come back next week we may find it then" 'What will change between now and next week ?' "Dunno, just might have more luck next weekend" 'Oh right, fair point mate.....' COULD YOU REALLY INVENT STUFF LIKE THIS ???? SOMEONE SENDS YOU A PARCEL AND YOU GET IT IF YOU'RE LUCKY !! -
are you waiting for a royal mail parcel?
KidKruger replied to dulwichquine's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
These Royal Mail guys seem to be striking of terms/conditions that are not guaranteed to most people, they want to be insulated from reality it seems, in their quest to achieve this I think they may be causing so much loss in confidence in Royal Mail that suppliers and individuals will look elsewhere (ie. for a service that can deliver what it says on the tin) to an extent not previously experienced. I am cancelling some magazine subscriptions on account of unreliable delivery and getting 3x weeks issues all on one day retrospectively etc etc, surely I won't be the only one and the magazines will take their trade elsewhere if they want to hang on to their customers.. -

Mean people outside The Castle - what to do?
KidKruger replied to prettyflowers's topic in The Lounge
Sophie these men outside the Castle are not hoping to get anywhere (even they would know there's zero chance), it's just idle bored men with a pint or two in 'em trying to impress each other with sexist banter towards innocent female(s). If they straightened-up/sobered-up they would have to agree they behave like tossers. In another society we would not be discussing them on the internet but marching round there to beat up the blokes outside the Castle and even torch the premises if there was no promise of improvement from the guvnor. We clearly do have a level of tolerance towards this behaviour in our society. -

Mean people outside The Castle - what to do?
KidKruger replied to prettyflowers's topic in The Lounge
they are just drunkards with no balls. they will crumble if you face them. however just humour them they are too ignorant to engage meaningfully with you, hence their gutter behaviour. -

Post Office queue - a different view of East Dulwich
KidKruger replied to Reg Smeeton's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
If you want to see a representative demographic of East Dulwich just walk down the high street for chrissakes, i doubt if one shop or supplier will give more 'insight' than that. -
fell over the $%^&*$! uneven flags on Derwent Grove
KidKruger replied to Alabama's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
my god somebody falls over and looks around for how to make money out of it, i can understand the need to fix a pavement to stop it happening again and even the need to berate the council for shoddy pavements but to look at it as a financial gain oppotunity, come on. it's a shame to get injuries when falling over that's a symptom of gravity and what you land on and how you fall. was there an assumption that the terrain being walked on was as flat as kitchen lino therefore no need to pay attention to what the ground looked like and walk on it accordingly ? insulation from reality is not possible but financial gain from the council's inability to provide it is. people must be gutted when they find they tripped over (say) a kerbstone which is perfectly and accurately positioned and therefore they cannot sue anyone to make cash out of it.
