Road works ARE noisy and they were notified some days in advance by signs on the street lampposts to assure cars didn't park in the way during the road works yesterday. Not sure what else the road team and contractors could have done (or how quiet you expect invasive road works to be). And yes, I live right by one of the junctions worked-on yesterday. I've been on Zoom meetings yesterday (headphones), no problem at all, especially if working towards back of house. For a day, FFS. Expecting silence during road works in not reasonable. Expecting no road works to be done because people are working form home is not reasonable. Expecting road teams to NOT take advantage of quiet roads, to minimise traffic congestion problems, is not reasonable ! Ian Kershaw delivers an excellent lecture on YouTube on Adolf, who was a clever, albeit conceited, fantasist. Wrong person, wrong time.

Oh, is THAT why the darned helicopter was hovering above for ages around 0230-0315 ?! Well I hope they got who they were looking for !

Fair play to jimlad for stating his view on this virus situation even if it may come across as topical. Problem with opening-up right now would be that virus can transmit and more people will die, it's not just a case of whether as individuals we think WE are safe/resistance but the vulnerable people who will inevitably be infected, many of whom are not old and in the 'departure lounge already'. Personally I'd prefer the entire population get rid as best and as quick as it can, so I'd go the other way and enforce a proper lockdown for a few weeks (I doubt this will ever happen here until 2nd wave becomes unmanageable and we've lost several weeks pussy-footing around playing at pandemics). Whatever is decided, there are already a minority of people who are intent on maintaining no or limited distance, apparently convinced that they are above the regulation or cannot catch or carry the infection to others.

The Husky owner needs to watch for their dog hassling another dog that can actually handle itself, dishing IT it's own injuries. Sounds like husky needs to be kept on-lead, especially now during restrictions where we don't want close contact (pulling dogs apart, checking at wounds) between owners and dogs due to infection risk.

I recently learned of the (it seems widely known) knocking-shop opposite the old Crystal Palace Tavern during 90s. Very local history to me.

Funny thing about JoB on LBC, regarding Covid19, he's just asking logical questions about why we are in current situation, how it happened and where the boo-boos were. Seeing as UK is in an avoidable situation, has suffered more deaths than necessary, has had no coherent plan now for weeks, front-line staff have limited PPE (or 'FEEL' they don't have enough PPE, if you listen to Priti Patel - that's right, those staff may just be imagining it!), has had no lockdown, people are associating freely in public, I think that's fair enough. One may not like JoB (he can grate with self-grandiosement), but please point out his mistruths (as you see them). -
I think that briefing, where Trump suggested the research into ridiculous measures to combat the virus, is typical of his appearances. His mind wanders all over the place, not thinking logically, unfiltered, and unrestrained, his mouth is engaged directly real-time to his brain with no time delay or reasoning filter. He blurts out this diatribe and because he's POTUS people pay attention and write down/publish his ramblings. Then when it doesn't seem to make sense everyone acts shocked and surprised. But it's the same every time, he's just there to make noise and distract from reality (because in reality you've got him, hook line and sinker). Throughout his campaign speeches and many public appearances since, Kafka-esque would be an understatement. Look at who / what you have in front of you ! Who cares what he says, he's an imbecile.

Perhaps the pedestrians thought you were commenting on their closeness to one another, not to yourself. In this instance why not just run around the cars parked on kerbside, or stop and stand to one side (between cars ?) as the FOUR pedestrians passed ? This seems to be the difference between runners and walkers in these situations, walkers are able to stop/slow-down/negotiate, runners seems more inclined to continue momentum (they are out for a RUN after all!). Unfortunately, sounds like distance wasn't kept, between the 5 of you that's what you decided. The virus doesn't care who was at fault, or felt entitlement, you've got a couple of weeks now to see if that instance infected you - you'll probably never know whether you infected any of the other four (and by association their families and vulnerable people). jimlad48 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > LAst week I was running down a pavement towards > four people, all 20 somethings, walking abreast > across the width of the pavement next to each > other - they refused change formation to allow > others past, and didnt narrow up even though it > wasnt possible to get in road at that spot - I > politely called out 'social distancing please' to > them as they refused to make room for others and > they said 'but we all live together' as I was > channelled to run right past them. Ending Current Restrictions = Spike In Deaths We?ve not even had a lockdown yet in UK. Just cos some of us are still alive doesn?t mean we can?t catch it, just that we haven?t yet.

Yes, please stop blaming those people who come too close and endanger your and your family?s / household?s safety. They might kill you, but hey, we?ve all gotta show a little flexibility. Just calm down and chill, right ? ? There are however numerous incidents of dog attacks of children. A dog, no matter how well trained or placid is an animal and can cause injury if threatened or agitated. Not the dog's fault, fault the owner and report them to police.? What?s the point of this hysterical comment ?!

The impression I get from JoB on LBC is that he sees inconsistencies and malpractice in the way the Govt is handling the situation and, importantly, misinformation at daily briefings with limited opportunity by the press to challenge and interrogate. Just saying 'well any Govt would probably do the same/no better' doesn't really address his concerns. -
Missing post since sorting office moved to peckham
KidKruger replied to nina_maniana's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
rjw wouldn't it be interesting to have three cheap tracking devices posted from three separate locations, all in non-normal packaging (whatever that is !), to your home address - the one not currently receiving 'interesting' parcels ? You could literally follow where they ended-up and where they were suddenly de-activated or discarded, within a few metres. I think that would tell you a lot about exactly what is going on at that sorting office - because as you say, something is definitely amiss there. Going through the official channels is never going to get anyone there arrested or your packages recovered IMO. Anyway, was just playing scenarios in my mind and this one was most fun/effective. -
