As for the knee/groin incident, think nothing of it. A mere bagatelle. As it were. The main thing it did was to get Susan Cadogan's 'Hurt So Good' playing on repeat in my head. How bad?

Trusting the children is not the issue, it's the untrustworthy variables that might occur on their journey between home and school that might harm them. -

Doreen's great-auntie Vi suggested precisely the remedy you put forward. Would he apply it? Would he buggery. Claimed it made him all 'too smeary' and would end up staining the Lord John shirt he bought in Carnaby Street that time. Doreen continues to indulge him, I reckon he's just putting it on though. We'll see.

Sweetcorn also accepted, and applied in a way the CO-OP never thought it might be when they first sourced it in a fair trade fashion.

There is no debate here in my view. A mile from home to school. An 8 year old and a 5 year old on bikes in any situation, let alone an urban one is dopey. The school seems to have taken a half-sensible, if slightly namby-pamby approach to the parents. I'm guessing they're not working-class, benefit-scroungers, though, eh? -
Peckhamgatecrasher Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > A pickled egg with a soupcon of caviar would go > down a treat right now. I've checked with Doreen, PGC, she's fine with the pickled egg, but says there's not a tin of caviar soup left in the place and she doesn't want to send Ken out again tonight, what with his chest being what it is and all. I reckon though, she's deliberately misunderstood your request for comedic purposes. It wouldn't surprise me in the least, it's rumoured that she and Bernie WInters were once 'close'. EEEEEEEHH!!!

I simply must see the refrigerated portion of the place, you have made me rethink my somewhat testy attitude toward the place and I shall visit there this very week. I will inform you of my findings. -
Schonrock kids and unchaperoned "school run"

I think allowing any child of primary school age to take themselves to school is hugely irresponsible. Nothing to do with 'paedo-scare' or any implied 'PC gone mad' so-called hysteria. An 8 and 5 year old are not equipped to deal with the sort of incidents/accidents they might encounter on that sort of journey. Marmora man, the OP says that the children cycle a mile to school to school, not a 'short walk'. A big diffence I think. And just as a matter of interest, what if these were kids on a sink estate whose parents were on benefits? Parents encouraging health and independence? Or being feckless and indifferent? -

A fellow wanders hither and yon through life, thinking he's a man of the people and doesn't have a snob bone in him. He then spends a few minutes in Peckham Lidl and 'f@ck my old boots' if he don't get all uppity, superior and snootsome about his fellow man. I blame Lidl, I reckon they design it that way. Damn them and their cheapness. -

Wanders away deep in puzzlement at LM's vexation at what he thought was a helpful and supportive post. Walks away limping, but resolves not to attend to his groin area until in the privacy of his own spare room where the self-massage necessary will not excite comment*

So was the explanation carried out to the two staff members, individually or simultaneously? I'd like to know whether your standing explanation took 5 or 10 minutes. I like to keep an eye on such matters. Also, what is celeriac? In fewer than 200 words if you please. -

Corks Katie1997, you sound as if you're a reg'lar down at The Mott The Hoople. There's a chair round the snug next time you're in. Spot on about Doreen, any sign of what she describes as 'ructions', she's straight through the 'jump' informing the 'ructioneers' in no uncertain terms to 'either pack it up, or get packed up'. Stan, on these occasions always seems to find something to attend to in the cellar. It works well for them, though but. > Definitely hold the whisky/whiskey, the blandford > ale is already alcoholic and I wouldn't like to > cause any extra work....though saying that, a > snack would be nice ;) Doreen prides herself in having a nice bit of boiled ham and a spot of mature Cheddar cheese always available. She'll always get Ken the potman to cut along to the baker's for a fresh roll or two when necessary. And she'll always knock up a toastie on the Dualit when required. Pickles of various varieties provided on the side They'll never get mentioned in any food guides, but as Doreen once said, "F*ck 'em". At the time, Stan gave her a bit of a look and remembered he had something to attend to in the cellar

Just looked up. We're through the looking class here, people.

daizie Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > HonaloochieB- A Slow Comfortable Screw Up Against > The Wall for me please Doreen gave a smirk and a rise of her right eyebrow. Stan shrugged and said he knew little of cocktails. He's gone upstairs to rouse the Australian barman, who he reckons will be able to sort you out. Honestly, where else would you get service like that?

I reckon you shouldn't trouble your pretty little head with such matters, honestly it's too complicated. Even some men can't understand it, fertheloveaMike. Until his death George Best thought you could get away with it by giving the referee a 'wink, click and guns' as you passed him. Actually might well have worked for him in some situations. So, pet, settle down and diven't pay the matter na mind. Howay.

PeckhamRose Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > HonaloochieB as we sit here typing they're out > there playing (LadyMuck and DJKillaQueen) > I'm kinda enjoying being able to breathe and be > still! I've reviewed my original post PeckhamRose, and as the good Muckster and DJKQueen are out there as we speak risking thighs, sinews and underpinnings I suggest we allow the distaff side of the operation to call the mysterious game 'footie', in tribute and salute to the fairer sex. But if a chap, fellow or even a bloke of any description tries it on, they should be shunned, cut by the county and become a hissing and a byword. On this matter I stand resolute.

There's only 'Bolly' at the moment, but Doreen reckons it's just at the right quaffing temperature and I trust her judgement. I've told her to keep it coming until you can't even remember where you parked your bike, let alone ride it home. Mi tab, su tab. Enjoy.

I don't know much, LM, that's for sure, but I know enough not to call it 'footie'. Flag goes up, LM offside, possibly forever.
