  1. I don't stay out much beyond 1am - and LL is always pretty quiet when I go home (odten from the Bishop/EDT). Does it really get worse at 2am ?
  2. Its the way it works - sons/daughters of staff come for work experience, then have a bit of experience if a first rung type job comes up. Happens with our, much larger, company all the time. womanofdulwich Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I work for quite a big company of 400 plus and we > always ask friends and family first- saves agency > fees- we get an introductory bonus if it works > well and everyone is happy. 3. Papers all say Exxon are coming in with a ?100B takeover Obama's given it the go ahead (acting as judge, jury and executioner) as the US public would rather see the Exxon CEO in charge of BP than the current management. Not good for UK Ltd. expat Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > BP could go bust especially if they revoke their > permission to operate in the States. 4. If you have excellent verbal skills, but are absolutely wrong in your analysis then you will brilliantly sell your wrong solution to everybody. Is this why we work in teams, and differing roles in teams exist ?
  5. Cliff v Alex v Ernie Who's the fastest washing machine repair man in the East (Dulwich)
  6. It's the old hunting of the fox he wants to repeal - but is worried about the feeling about it in the country. He should just do it and hunt the bloody thing if he has to. RosieH Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > What ruffers said. > > Man up Cameron. This isn't the @#$%& X Factor.
  7. I don't think the use of a knife is being question Its whether the gang ran away because of mention of a Croydon gang or for some other reason (losing their nerve). As a youngster I never told adults the whole truth (just a subset of it). I thought the aggression was between gangs so mentioning you're a member of a rival gang could make things much worse in many cases. 8. Overground (east london line) is pretty fast - I catch the 443 bus to New cross then the overground/jubilee to Canary Wharf and it takes about 45 mins. But there were Overground delays last week !!! 9. I thought that about Wetherspoons - til the last world cup when the Wetherspoons I was in suddenly unveiled an absolutely huge screen - from nowhere. It seemed it had been built into the Wetherspoons - but never used (except in football emergencies obviously). eater81 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > What kind of idiot wouldn't show the football > during the world cup! 10. I wouldn't let M$ do that and I certainly wouldn't give them my credit card. Is it part of the scam that you would pay microsoft for local PC support. It's the old hangup from me I'm sorry - I've been hanging up a lot lately :)
  11. Swansea was (in my day) much more violent in terms of punching, fighting, cheap shots than here, so I know what he means. Is Colchester an army town too :) I know London has horrible knife/gun crime, but to be honest, I never see it. It's not usually in my demographic. I haven''t had a fight since I moved here. Tube

Still the old, clanky East London line, with a bit added on to me ;) Actually, been catching it from Brockley/New Cross to Canada Water via 343/484 bus to get from Peckham Rye to Canary Wharf without going Zone 1 - and it can be faster. Definitly a nice ride and I lke the 'open' structure of the carriages. You can get to Croydon too .... Is that good :) dbboy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > HOP does NOT have a tube service, its the > Overground which currently runs next to and in > conjunction with Southern trains. 13. Thats rather naughty of Morrisons seeing as it takes absolutely ages to get round the store and then sometimes theres a huge queue too. Lucky no-one stops at the cafe ;) If I'd been in the supermarket - I wouldn't pay. if I'd been down Rye Lane - I probably would. in_nunhead Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Are now fining anyone who stays there for more > than two hours. Of course some people couldn't vote due to the inadequaties of the system.
  15. They have the option of crossing the floor once Milliband senior becomes Labour leader ... and the proverbial starts hitting the fan. .... and didn't Sir Geoffrey once give his indication of what he thought of the Deputy PM post.
  16. and now apparently The NI increase for Employees next april goes ahead !!!!!!!! Glad I didn't fall for the spiel.
  17. Somebody here said it was the busiest UK Sainsburys Well so much for that. Maybe the Co-op can open 24/7 and win some custom :)
  18. The Lib Dems wouldn't be any better (or worse) than the rest of them.. if you look.. the policies are pretty similar - except for the fact Gordon ran up a huge debt - which I suspect the Tories (who i won't be voting for) wouldn't have, but then they'd have not invested as Gordon did (He spent a lot of money you know). Being in SE15 - I'm tempted to vote for the crazy Workers Revolutionary Guy - who I actually talked to :) haven't seen any of the rest yet, and don't really think much of any of them. Used to live in Swansea - which went Lib Dem after years and years of Labour, but nothing happened really. No real change. Can I vote Hung Parliament. As I said before mind - the guy has left his details on the websites WHOIS so he can't be that disingenious. I tend to give him the benefit of the doubt as a great British eccentric:)
  19. Mrs Duffy is not going to participate in the process .. and I think it hasn't helped Gord. Her reasons are she supports Labour but finds Brown rather rude I think. She seems to be refusing to sell her story too.
  20. Guardian is Lib Dem now mind and Mirror is still Labour. rather funny how they all claim victory for their candidate .. and try to make a witty aside about the others. Not that I like the Tory bit of the press ... The Sun gained too much infamy for the 'attack' on Kinnock - that probably wasn't real - the polls in 1992 were just horribly wrong.
  21. Don't think he's dodgy - A whois identifies him straight away as a small businessman in ED - He'd hide all that if it was dodgy. Probably feels he's being ignored by Southwark Council Huguenot Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > So still no evidence and no explanation? > > Just mudslinging and innuendo, unsubstantiated > cash claims, luridly coloured flamer websites, > fantasies about the High Court of Justice and > weird 'secret knowledge'. > > If this was the kind of stuff you were putting in > your emails to councillors it's not really > surprising they'd delete them before reading them. > It's possible that you may need treatment, not > access to a local representative. > > Bonkers. He seemed OK though

ClareC Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > How about plain clothes police walking on Barry > Road on a Sat night .....when asked for phone they > can bring out warrant card :-) They must be doing this. The spate can't have gone unnoticed. The fire engine goes up and down LL on saturday night (I was in the EDT) - so wonder if they saw anything - I was keeping an eye out, but saw nothing on the walk from EDT to Rye Lane.
  24. Not Peckham Rye but from the independent "Six dogs have died after eating poisoned meat left on a London golf course. Police believe the dogs ate chicken and tripe which had been laced with paraquat. The poisoned meat was left near the 14th tee of the public golf course at Beckenham Place Park in Bellingham, south-east London, earlier this month. Detective Sergeant Clive Barnes said: 'We strongly believe this was done deliberately and are treating the matter very seriously. Whether it is someone with something against dogs for some reason we don't know.'" http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/heartbreak-for-pet-owners-as-dogs-fall-prey-to-poisoned-bait-oliver-gillie-on-an-illegal-practice-that-kills-indiscriminately-1500082.html
  25. Got bashed on the head with a Plastic bottle the other night - just laughed and so did the gang of lads that did it. But probably was a dare and could have been a glass one if I was unlucky.
