Update - called to update the allergist and in April a request for him to see a dietician was made (I had no idea), I'm on the waiting list apparently but she did call me and talk me through some options. Got some oat milk today and cooked him an annabelle kamel salmon recipe minus the cheese and used oat milk and he loved it! Tried humus and he loved it! (thnk you!).. Dietician is sending me a neocate cookbook and also some neocate spoon as she said if I dropped his porridge and baby rice he wouldn't be getting enough milk so will see how the neocate spoon goes! Thnk you so much everyone am feeling less overwhelmed today x

Amydown I will defo ask my gp for a referral to a dietician. I feel a bit like I'm not sure of the next steps and just keep plugging away with Ella's pouches and things he likes. Thanks for the advice x

Thanks everyone, it's quite overwhelming but there are some great ideas on here. Shaunag - we saw an allergist at tommies but didn't see a dietician, I think that's a great idea and I will ask my gp to refer me, we have a referral for a gastro but it's been in the system for 2 months and no appointment yet! After months of gp visits it was his allergist that requested the gastro appointment and also put him on domperidone that really helped with all the vomiting. I have never even thought of humous as something to give him, what a great idea! What kind of things would you serve it with? I'm going to re read my annabelle karmel book tomorrow for some recipes. Do you know if there are any dairy and soya free weaning books? I love oat milk myself, could I give that to him at this age? For example on his porridge ? I'm still using his formula in a desperate attemPt to get the vitamins he needs in to him.. X

Help with weaning, savoury hater...
Strawbs replied to Mrs_Glennie's topic in The Family Room Discussion
My son was exactly the same at the beginning and still does the rubbing of food all over his face, in his eyes and hair and he is definitely not tired as most of the time has had a sleep pre meal time , for a little while I added some Ella's kitchen pear to the savoury and then reduced it each time til he was eating it all. I'm sure you have but have you tried butternut squash and courgette? The butternut squash is sweet and I add savoury veg. I can't get my son to eat meat so I'm battling that at the moment. Good luck! X -
Hi saffron, I try to get as any things I can in to him as he refuses his milk so much. Breakfast is either fruit or porridge (just about to try weetbix) with sometimes some toast for him to gum (he still has no teeth), lunch is vegetables, pasta and dinner is baby rice and an Ella's kitchen pouch of chicken casserole (only meat he will even tolerate without crying - he absolutely hates meat! Tomorrow I am going to make a fish dish to try him on (was waiting on my tesco shop to come tonight with some soy cheese but I guess that's out). I focus a lot on his baby rice as he will eat a truck load of it and I sometimes use up to 6oz in a bowl of his milk so I feel like he is getting something. I really need to put my thinking cap on re what foods I specifically need to cook to get him calcium. I will google tonight. He loves things like courgette, spinach, sweet potato, butternut squash but I think I need to do more. He loves Ella's kitchen pouches and I try to get the ones with 3 or 4 diff veg.. This week I am going to introduce some lentils as well and try again with some meat.. Any suggestions would be really appreciated! X

Well the soy is out, over the last few hours he has developed swollen eyes and a facial rash and is crying and scratching his ear like mad. Gp thinks I need to stick to neocate as he has reacted to cows milk protein and soy and said he is likely to react to goat milk.. Giving him piriton and gearing up for a long night! I will give lizzie a call tomorrow and see if I can get an appointment. Thanks! X

I really like next also!

Brilliant thank you! My son has very severe reflux and a cows milk protein allergy so sometimes I feel like I'm trying everything to find a solution! He is heavily medicated on omeprazole, gaviscon and domoeridone so one day I'd love to get him off all of that! He is 8 months old x

Hi My 8 month old son is on neocate currently and my gp said I should look in to other milks as he refuses to drink the neocate. I got some sma wysoy today and foolishly googled once I had bought it rather than before and the net suggests given to boys under 12 months can cause fertility issues for him later on in life and rotting teeth as it has glucose syrup in it.. Does anyone have any view or facts regarding this issue? Thanks!

I was wondering the same, my son is almost 8 months and on a recent visit to oz my sister in law no longer sterilises for her 9 month old. I was his bottles in the dishwasher so they are definitely very clean!

Hi, how long does it last? Thanks

My son was 4 months old and really enjoyed the change, you can always change back if you decide she isn't ready x

A few questions about flying (to SA) with 2 under-3s
Strawbs replied to akc74's topic in The Family Room Discussion
I just flew 24 hours on my own to Australia with a 7 month old. I chose virgin as was told I could confirm sky cot at time of booking but this turned out to be untrue and I had to arrive at the airport early to secure it. The size of plane dictates the size of the sky cot and what weight / height they will need to be. My son refused to sleep in the sky cot and screamed every time I put him in it so whilst I didn't use it the extra room on te bulkhead was brilliant. I ended up seatbelting him to me, putting my legs stretched out up on the bulkhead and he slept on mw the whole journey (not continuously obviously but just when he needed a sleep). Take a night flight if you can even though they may be unsettled at the airport but will sleep ok on the flight. Book the airport lounge so you can get some peace and quiet before the flight. I was dreading the flight but actually he was exceptional it was the jetlag that was the absolute worst and we are still dealing with it now as got home 5 days ago. Pack lots of patience as they very much pick up on your vibe.. I gate checked the pram so had him in the ergo carrier and used the pram to carry my carry on in.. Good luck! X -
Pre baby number 1 I always thought I wanted 3 but we have decided to only have two, baby number 1 is 7.5months and still not sleeping through so it makes it hard to think about going brought it a further two times hahah.. Financially also it makes things easier for us but I can't guarantee if baby number 2 is another boy that I wouldn't be tempted to try for a girl.. For now though two seems perfect for us..

Can I take Ella's kitchen pouches through heathrow security?
Strawbs replied to Strawbs's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Just to be safe I've picked up some plum 100gm ones and I've booked in to the airpor lounge so I can fill his bottles with 4oz of boiling water which I'll let cool and then get the hosties fill up the remaining 2 with boiling and got myself a couple of slimline powder dispensers. I thought I had packed light but I've got my carry on plus a large and small backpack that connect which I'll check but that has a combined weight of 27kg!!! If I haven't lost a few pounds after lugging that around for 3 weeks I'll give up and embrace the left over baby weight hahaha.. X -

Reflux in infants - advice Please
Strawbs replied to midivydale's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Tomo - the ranitidine will only help with the acid production rather than the vomiting unfortunately. My son has had it quite badly and was diagnosed at 6 weeks and it was only suggested at a recent allergist appt he go on to domperidone (he is now 6.5 months) and it has reduced his vomiting 10 fold! He used to projectile so much I couldn't dress until he was in the pram ready to go out.. I detest how medicated Toby has to be but have accepted its the only way to make him comfortable. He is on 3 tablets of omeprazol a day and now domperidone 3 times daily plus gaviscon in al of his feeds (dairy free).. Anyone fancy a reflux mums and babies meet up? X -
