Like, give them a chance dude. They will.be focusing on food, logistics and everything else -;not every small business can do it all when opening. -
Why are Walkers the best selling crisps in the UK when....
DovertheRoad replied to DovertheRoad's topic in The Lounge
I knew this would turn into a trip down crisp memory lane but at least we all agree Walkers are average to poor. Anyway I reckon crisp spotting for rare yet still available brands is a worthy past time. Often the most off piste newsagent is a treasure trove. If so post your rare findings here. -

Yes they are still sold....just harder to find... Re earlier points Golden Wonder were bought by Tayto the Irish crisp giant back in 2006 I think. GW were massive in Scotland when I grew up there in the 80's and I still prefer them tbh. Pepsico now own Walkers but also the Smiths and Tudor brands. The latter they discontinued as a brand a while back. Smiths is still used on the salt n shake and a few other brands. -
Hard to find a gem in East Dulwich given they're all well and truly out there and most are well attended. How about a trip off strip? I really like Queens in Camberwell on Church Street. Great food and a little different.

Je suis fatigue - anyone else in ed feel like this?
DovertheRoad replied to lavender27's topic in The Lounge
Hi, very common...suggest you go to your GP and ask for an TATT test (tired all the time). It's a series of tests on your blood, thyroid etc that can indicate a problem. Even a minor deficiency can do it that can potentially be fixed with diet or supplements. Tbh I reckon the three factors of sleep, diet and exercise are most important. If your diet is shit, you aren't really exercising and your sleep is crap due to alcohol etc then you'll feel sluggish.esp over the age of 35. Young kids and running a business in challenging times will do it too :-) -
A successful May Trump meeting yesterday. Discuss

I just thought the whole thing looked bizzarre and awkward. Which is where we find ourselves now tbh. -
Interesting that 5 years ago it was a race to the bottom as airlines differentiated on cost. But that now it's back to service again. BA have brought prices down but cut services. Easyjet already had a lean business model but have recently moved uptown. And Ryanair, whilst more customer friendly are still very much in budget territory. Tbh I liked the whole old school flying experience and perhaps am one of the few prepared to pay more for a premium offering. It's just like getting on the bus now.

Grove tavern to reopen. Fact or fiction.

There's a huge shortage of good care home accommodation in South London though. Whilst I hate to see pubs close I can't help think that run this case it's a better use of the land and space than a huge pub by a very busy road that nobody really wanted to go to anymore after the trade moved to more footfall friendly locations. -
funnily enough Malumbu...as of 25th Jan this week.... BA have moved ALL flights back to Gatwick South terminal. There will be no more flights from Gatwick North. Better for customers in that it is by the trains. Not such a good space for BA staff though by all accounts. I think Virgin will be taking over their big space at GW north.

As a longstanding loyal and frequent customer of what used to the the world's favourite airline it's sad to watch them slowly erode their value proposition. In the last few years they have started charging to select seats, for hold luggage and significantly less (almost 30%) Avios points per ?1 spent. This January has seen another USP go - by charging for food and drink on all short haul flights and hoping to win people over with a menu from M&S - another once great British brand that is as tired and stodgy as BA itself. All businesses have to move with the times but it feels like death by a thousand cuts from a customer perspective. That said I'll probably still keep using them for long haul as they command most of the prime routes anywhere from UK. By contrast Easyjet seem to be going upmarket and recent experiences have been brilliant, even in the way they handled a cancelled flight that required an overnight stay. They've also invested heavily in technology and the app and website are light years better. moan over/ discuss

East Dulwich Grove closed - accident ?
DovertheRoad replied to ed_pete's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Unfortunately a bus heading eastbound on East Dulwich Grove has collided with two motorcycles just outside JAGS school and it looks very serious. The road is closed both ways between the cross roads down from North Dulwich station and the Townley Road junction. Traffic is bad heading into the village and also on woodwarde, Dovercourt and Townley. -
What's Happening on Crawthew Grove Project?

Sounds perfect for kids. Genuinely feel for you. horrendous you've felt the need to move out over it all. Hope it finishes soon and that he sends you a big box of steamed patties / craft beer to make amends. -
Once again - just got to the one in Dulwich Village. You get 20 mins walking exercise and will still b back on LL before you hit the front of the queue.

Now wishing I hadn't asked. 4 years? That tops the Dog shambles in Duwlich Village. Genuinely feel sorry for the neighbours. Small swimming pool you say? Is it like big enough to actually swim in...or more like a lay back with the chicks and a bottle of Krug type set up -
Abbreviated accounts ( companies with revenue <5M) don't give much away I'm afraid. You can tell if they are in debt, their rough cash flow and perhaps some directors details. And this about it.

The Blair/Brown government was responsible for some of the biggest tax breaks for the rich in decades (income tax, property taxation policy, corporation tax reductions). Amazing what you can do with spin, minor budget sweeteners for the masses and clever "messaging". An easy base for the Tories to chip away at. Not sure its news though other than ONS making it official.

Dovercourt done this week. Thanks.

JohnL Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > So would you be able to set-up a business (like IT > contractors) to run your BTLs then ? Absolutely. Just a Ltd co would odd the trick. There are tax advantages by incorporating a personal BTL business but you can't transfer in existing properties without incurring a CGT charge (as you'd be selling it to a company in effect). Also the BTL Ltd co would probably be charged commercial mortgage rates which are typically much higher than consumer BTL rates. It will be interesting to see how it unfolds. Pass the After Eights will you Brian?
