  1. louisiana I am very tempted I assure you, the Bromley borough has considerably lower crime rates overall comparable to Southwark (worst or joint worst of the London borough's?). Louisa.
  2. Joel Pied, is this place still under the ownership of the Davina Boutique people? Louisa.
  3. I would love to have met Harriet (6) Louisa.
  4. Maybe the home secretary became nervous after discovering she had strayed too close to Peckham in her car and is in need of a helicopter to safeguard her journey into ED to buy a kebab. Louisa.
  5. I thought it was Costcutter Louisa.
  6. As you point out Sean racism and racial slurs affect all races in all countries and are not exclusive to one particular colour or creed. I have seen racism happening in a direct and indirect fashion in the workplace and in all sorts of institutions. If by using a useful and official description to name a group of potential criminals is found to be racist or offensive, then where do we go from there? this is just reactionary and beyond the pale in my opinion. Some people want to make an issue out of something trivial within a post which is actually quite important. I get accused of hijacking posts and turning them into a class issue, and many on here shoot me down in flames, but surely racism is a much more important issue and can lead to inflammatory posts. I have many black and asian friends and neighbours who would find northlondoners opening post laughable, so this isnt an issue of empathy, it is an issue of making a mountain out of a mole hill. I would not want to understand? What exactly do you mean by that? Louisa.
  7. Well sorry Sean but some people need to just grow up. A criminal offence has been commited and you people on here seem more interested in the details of the description as opposed to catching the people who did it! You wonder why so many people get infuriated by this sort of attitude? No racism has occured, just a description, if a person has a hang up about a racial description then that is their issue and no one elses. If I saw a group of girls of ANY ethnic background vandalising my car or a neighbours I would name each and every racial background and if it had been four girls of white origin I would do exactly the same thing. Louisa.
  8. Goodness me has political correctness really taken us down a road in which it is offensive to name the colour of someones skin who is involved in a criminal offence? If I were the owner of this car I would be extremely grateful for having this brought to my attention, and indeed as a third party I am also very happy to know that someone has put out a warning about criminal activity going on in the streets surrounding me. northlondoner approached this thread from a confrontational stance and seemed more interested in pointing out the negative of the opening post as opposed to the positive. Louisa.
  9. Piers Morgan is real? wow Louisa.
  10. ?20 for some kids socks, you can get 12 pairs in Primark for ?3 lol Louisa.
  11. I applied to go on but failed :-( Louisa.
  12. Freddy, Jones and Higgins demise was the end of Rye Lane lol - and from memory I dont think the place had a restaurant or a ladies hat department! Louisa.
  13. The Tesco Metro news is absolutely great. However, it does seem odd to me that it is within half a mile of the other small Tesco on East Dulwich RD, but i'm guessing the popularity is there for another small store. As you suggest LuvPeckham, it only takes on big retailer to locate itself in an ailing town centre such as Peckham and others follow if that store does well. H&M have received an absolute backlog of emails regarding the Woolies site and seem to be changing their line by the minute. M&S I know or a fact had zero interest in a return to Peckham until this Facebook blog made the press. A friend of mine who works at Bayswater store jokingly told me at the weekend that this particular story was getting all over head office and has sparked interest in the area once more, especially since the ELL extension came to fruition a few days ago. I never thought I would see the day Rye Lane managed to regain a decent number of High Street stores again, but with all the current news it may well be that we are not far off a return to a good standard of shopping again. Louisa.

  15. H&M in Peckham? I've been doing some reading up and the internet truly is a wonderful tool. H&M have received a whole host of emails from me and I received a response today saying that this site was certainly something they would look at, and now I find this news link and I have also been told by other sources that M&S and Next have shown early stage interest. Can this be happening? Could the internet and people power create enough interest to save Rye Lane? Louisa.
  16. I find coming onto an internet forum and venting my anger a good thing to do for an over 40 in ED. Louisa.
  17. Huggers I agree wholeheartedly on this one! Yummy! :)) Louisa.
  18. Jeremy, Sopers is fantastic (i'm sure this isnt a shocker coming from non-organic Louisa), and they have been around for many many years and it is good value for money, but equally I dont see anything wrong with Moxons, bought some prawns from there last year and they were superb value for money. Both are decent but I am loyal to Sopers because they always have the best quality kippers. Louisa.
  19. Davina Boutqique has a shop in West Wickham I believe as it carries the same frotange and branding as this place, the one on Edgware RD may be different though i'm not sure. Either way how it can survive in this economi climate amazes me! Louisa.
  20. kristymac1, you have kind of proven my point about middle class yummies with nothing better to do than whine on about a patch of grass and whether or not it should have a fence. I like your over dramatisation of the word suicidal, if boredom can drive anyone to suicide then they must be pretty hard up to find something decent to occupy their time, oh no maybe you fall into the yumm mummy catergory? Please confirm yay or nay. Whilst on the point, funnily enough your whinging drives me levels of snoozing, wake me up when your finished. Louisa.
  21. I dont think I could stomach the thought of GG being sacrificed for a car park, as much as it would be nice to have somewhere that close to LL. I was thinking more along the lines of perhaps reopening up the somerfield car park and maybe extending it a little, perhaps putting some underground parking in too? Louisa.
  22. Jeepers creepers! When did this happen? Has the area been evacuated? Louisa.
  23. I think the question of cars has only become an issue in ED because we do not have a public car park. I think it is a great shame that we cannot invest in a patch of local land which not used so that we have a place for visitors to the area to park. Louisa.
  24. first mate, I think those would be minimum requirements, those poor fragile middle class offspring could catch a deadly virus at any moment, probably best we keep a doctor on site too just incase ;-) Louisa.
  25. Let the yummies have their own private park for the sole use of exercising their offspring. It would give the rest of us a bit of peace and quiet. Louisa.
