Stop picking daffodils from GG and Peckham Rye Park!!
Louisa replied to Louisa's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
PR as I pointed out previously, the people I saw picking plants in broad daylight all looked pretty well to do and hardly unable to buy these flowers from a florist. I just think some people are completely ignorant, the same types of people who clog up the pavements with their prams and who dont say thankyou when you hold a door open for them. They make me sick. Born here, totally English, hopefully wont die here, love the country but hate the class system something totally unique to any western country I have found, love the countryside and regional diversity, hate the prices and the weather (I dont care what anyone says about lovely seasonal weather, bring the sunshine on please), not keen on the lack of morality and disrespect for those who have laid down there lives for this country (good example being why should we have had to go through all the hassle of getting the war memorial fixed, surely it should have just been done without question or argument by the government to respect those men and women who have given their lives for this place!). And the list of positives and negatives go on... Louisa.

Just a quick bump to see if anyone has any updates yet. The last time I looked at the Facebook page it said H&M were visiting the site, but no news since! Louisa.

They may all be gone long before that if the few selfish people keep bloody picking them! And I agree entirely with Cassius, sure picking a few is fine for healping future growth, but if they are all picked whats the point in having them at all? Louisa. -

He is wrong most of the time in my opinion but I put him in his place as much as he tells me I am wrong and does the same to me. I think it all balances itself out at some stage. Louisa. -

I'm sure if someone from the press department of McD's saw this message they would not consider it to be a joke. Inciting criminal damage is an offence, please dont backtrack by claiming it was some sort of innocent banter. I dont think I have ever reported anyone on here, although i'm sure i've had some hot under the collar private convos with a few hehe Louisa. -

Mikecg Mr Louisa and I share a very equal partnership in our marriage, unless he is wrong (most of the time) and I then put him in his place! PR, what I was getting at was it all started with the Industrial Revolution, and as it was only recognised as a problem very recently I cannot see how what we do now would in any way affect climate change unless of course it was on a global scale which it just wont ever be. Sure a few of us might turn lightbulbs off or stop using plastic bags at the supermarket but it will take a hell of a lot more to resolve any warming of the planet. If you ask me, much of this stuff is simply just an industry which has been created from climate change, most scientists and global leaders are resigned to the fact that we cant do anything to change it now so a loot of the hot air bouncing around is purely just for political favour and not to 'save the planet'! Louisa. -
But if people choose to go there to eat then they will thrive, as most of them still are doing, and some are even creating jobs so it isnt all bad is it. Louisa.

Harry Ramsdens spring to mind, i've been in one of those in Sydney and Orlando. Spud U Like is in the UK and Ireland as well as in parts of south-east Asia. Beefeater restaurants are in the USA and Australia. I am sure there are more I shall have a think. I take your point that McDonalds arnt exactly going to save the planet with an extra 6,000 jobs but they are jobs which I am sure some in the community would be very grateful for to help them survive at such a bad time for the economy. Some people seem to just take pleasure at knocking anything American and even when they are doing something positive they are seen as being evil capitalists hell bent on taking over the world. Let's give them a break once in a while I say. Louisa.

There are British fast food chains all over the world, I didnt see him mention those as being damaging Sean. He was being inflammatory in a specific sense about American fast food chains which I personally find offensive as well as suggesting we should go around vandalising private property! Ok not all anti-Capitalists are like this, but this person is certainly not doing that cause any good by coming on here condoning criminal activity towards American businesses. I would also like to remind everyone on here that 'evil' McDonalds have in this past week created 6,000 jobs in the UK, 1,000 of those being in London, at a time when people are losing jobs. Louisa.

Go to France or Italy and then > come back to join me smash their windows up! Who > needs sad american chain food in uk ??? Ermm excuse me? How dare you come on here and suggest that we should go around vandalising businesses! How about other chain food from other countries around the world? Why is there such anti-Americanism on your part? I find people like you a complete and utter disgrace, Admin can you please tell this person that this is not the place to be making political arguments from the anti-capitalist brigade. Louisa.

I agree Mark, some people play the climate change card just for the sake of it, I mean the Isles of Scilly used to be the biggest daffodil exporter in the UK and they still supply councils up and down the contry with fresh daffs each spring. This plants are home grown and not brought in from another country on planes so they arnt exactly adding anything significantly to the Co2 emissions. Some people are such hypocrites on the whole climate change thing, at least I am being honest when I say it is probably too late now, i'm not suggesting people should not do anything but by sitting on a computer and wasting energy you are hardly being eco warriors! Louisa. -
Allfornun this would be the 'wild cat of peckham rye', not sure if you remember but about 30 years ago there was an article in a local newspaper about sightings of a big cat in the park and eventually it was all forgotten about and put down to exaggeration or just a domestic cat that was now living wild. But the story has popped up a few times over the years and many sightings of this animal/animals have been seen. I have not personally seen it yet but I think I too would be rather freaked out. I wonder if the SLP will jump on this one (yet again). Louisa

Ermm I didnt shout at the child involved because that would be stupid, but the parent surely knows the difference between right and wrong and if not is it any wonder kids grow up without any respect for public property? Good, glad you worry about your life so much, but maybe you should pay a little time respecting the rest of the community by putting people in their places rather than trivialising the issue. Claire, maybe it's nothing to you, but people who are paying council tax to help the council provide us with a decent environment to live in might just be a little bit p*ssed off at the thought we are having our money p*ssed up the wall by a bunch of losers who see no problem in vandalising a public park for all our enjoyment. You are exactly the type who would walk on by and let it happen and sod everyone else, well I cant and wont do that so sorry if you find it offensive that some of us locally give a flying f*ck about the state of the local environment! Hear Hear Ann! I bought some daffs out of an M&S Simply Food in Greenwich few weeks ago for 99p and they are now in bloom, wonderful! I agree the ones closer to the roundabout are the ones suffering this year, that is probably because they are near the gates and the footpath and people tend to pick these ones first. I couldnt believe my eyes when I saw this lady picking them and putting them in her hair last week, I thought the whole hippy thing went out in the 60's! (p.s I bet dead people wouldnt damage the daffs!) Louisa. -

Sorry but Global Warming is happening and I think you want to blame anyone blame those who started the industrial revolution, it has been proven time and time again that emissions from cars make up a tiny percentage of total Co2 emissions each year, and no offence but turning off the odd lightbulb here and there once in a while is just pure fantasy and self fulfillment on behalf of a bunch of people who think they are doing all of us a favour, when it's actually just a wee bit too late. However, back on topic, coming along and vandalising a public park which is for the use of all of us and doing it so blatantly in broad daylight in front of everyone is just out of line. And judging by the people i've seen doing it so far (buggaboo owning types, mummys jogging in groups with other mummys holding prams) i'd say that the 'single mum of 4' line is probably as far from the truth as you can get. If you want some daffs, go to the bloody flower shop, leave the living ones alone! *Bob* join in my dream, we can make it happen if we just say NO to daffodil pickers up and down the public parks through this land. Louisa. -
It's a bit late to 'save the planet' if you ask me! I think the damage is already done, nothing we do now even on a major scale would not benefit us in the long term... maybe we should look for a new planet to live, preferably somewhere closer to the sun! Louisa.

This is just a little message to anyone out there stupid enough to think that these wonderful flowers are purely meant for your soul enjoyment only, well THEY ARE NOT! I have walked across GG twice this week and seen some ignorant buggers walking up and down picking flowers with their kids, I ignored it at first but when I saw someone doing on the Rye this morning that was the final straw. They told me to mind my own so I got my phone out and got hold of the Southwark Park Wardens people and reported the incident. Please leave the daff's alone! Louisa.

I dont know if I have bad eyesight or whether this was just a very rare experience, but at the beginning of the month I was walking around Dulwich Park and was just heading over towards the Gallery Gate entrance and I saw a red, yes red squirrel, rather small and fluffy eared running a good 3 or 4 yards in front of me heading towards a tree. I so wished I had a camera at the time but sadly did not. I am no wildlife expert but I was under the impression red squirrels were extinct in this part of the country. Anyone? Louisa. (edited for yards not years!)

*Bob* I think it's probably an odds on favourite that all those mentioned in this are probably dead ;-) Louisa.

Sounds like a middle class ponce who is attempting to be edgy by saying "world food market" and "peckham plan" all in the same sentence. Louisa.
