  1. It is quite funny how back in the old days (pre gentrification) everyone used the green, there were never any issues, and no one got together to create pro and anti fence campaigns. Middle class people never cease to amaze me with their love of fighting for their corner and knowing their rights. Very amusing for a common old hag like me. After the lord mayors show eh? Louisa.
  2. What I find funny in the North/South debate is that Bromley, which I guess could and should still be considered SE London, is the third wealthiest postal district in the Gtr London area. It also is one of the most rural and one of the most affluent. But the good old folk of ED who like sitting outside trendy bars and cafes thinking they are in Kensington fail to notice this. North London has the central belt on it's side, but apart from the really crappy inner sections of the south side, the suburbs are far wealthier south of the river than they are north. East London is a horrid place, with a beacon of hope in Shoreditch and Hoxton (for the young trendies), while west/north west London is just a suburban sprawl of nothingness. At least we maintain our ancient villages south of the river and remain relatively green compared to the north side. We also have wealthy Surrey and Kent bordering us, as opposed to chavy Essex and grotty Hertfordshire. Louisa.
  3. The electric chair is too good for inconsiderate yummies! ;-) Louisa.
  4. DM i'm sure he would rather wear them than be forced to see you in them :)) Louisa.
  5. Maybe the next issue on the green will be inconsiderate yummies changing nappied and chucking them onto the grass in the hope that a common/working class person may trip up on it. More council funds wasted testing out what is best, who would ever have guessed we were heading into a deep dark recession? Louisa.
  6. How about some sex? I would imagine it has been a while DM, you are obviously such a busy person :)) Louisa.
  7. Bring on the East London Line, this is one thing I put my support behind wholeheartedly. Louisa.
  8. God it gets worse, some men can be so sexually orientated. The love of certain regions of the human body should be kept for the privacy of the bedroom and not for public places. I almost choked on my raspberry sponge. Louisa.
  9. Shocking. Louisa.
  10. It looks as though it's back again, quick everyone get in early and tell your boss it will be impossible to get in tomorrow with a centimetre of slush on the ground!!! :)) Louisa.
  11. Surely it should be b*obs? Louisa.
  12. At last it's been lounged! It is usually the self righteous middle class twits who have plenty to say in public, and my point about certain women thinking they have to make a point is very true in certain cases. Usually nothing better to do mothers who think the whole world evolves around them, refusing to appreciate anyone elses opinions apart from their own. Lucky i'm not a cafe owner, I would put a huge sign in the window banning all middle class bugaboo loving organic carrot eating women in their 30s from my establishment, make no mistake! Louisa.
  13. Bloomin 'eck, what is it with everyone turning legal on here today? This is a public forum for debate, not a bloody online court! Anyway... clux... I am not joking no, I do appreciate a mother has the right to breastfeed of course, but why on earth can this not be done in a private setting, why should it be done in full view of me or anyone else who does not wish to be made privy to such a personal situation? Some women actually make a point of going out of their way to breastfeed in public to try and make a point, I find it very odd to say the least and it does nothing in my opinion to help mothers and babies in public spaces. You let them breastfeed in public and before you know it they are changing nappies and destroying restaurants and pubs with screaming toddlers running around destroying my peace and quiet. It sounds harsh, but it is a slippery slope in my opinion. I have always held the view that some things need to be done behind closed doors (or in a private arena). Louisa.
  14. Breatfeeding in public is an utter disgrace in my opinion, discrete or not! A public place is a public place, and we have places for women choosing to breastfeed such as nappy changing facilities and toilets within restaurants/cafe's. I think it is an absolute display of public indecency for a woman to get her private regions out in a public arena (hungry baby or not!). Louisa.
  15. SimonM Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > > edited...and an Ann Summers! SimonM, you took the words right out of my mouth! Louisa.
  16. Bromley has one because Bromley has EVERYTHING, unlike round here!!! Louisa.
  17. lol Mikecg, love your quote and your Harriet Harman comment! Louisa spat her coffee all over the carpet! Louisa.
  18. In all fairness *Bob* you do make a good point, I know for a certainty if I had been in this place I would have made a formal complaint and asked for the said woman and child to have been politely hushed out of the place. Louisa.
  19. Sean, I grew up in Peckham as you know, so I have the right to call it a grotty dive if I wish to, especially considering the changes i've seen the area undergo. I think it is a terrible shame people cannot go about their daily lives without being assaulted or attacked just because Peckham is allowed to exist in it's current form without anyone wanting to do something about it. Whenever people mention it from the council it is refered to as a "vibrant" place, almost like it is somewhere people actually want to spend time! It has been ruined beyond recognition and government after government who has allowed it to happen should be damn well ashamed of themselves. I notice the good old met dont mind sending these powerless community support officers to roam the leafy suburbs, but oh no you wouldnt see one walking down Rye Lane after dark would you? (come to think of, apart from around the station, when did I last see a copper in Peckham?) Louisa.
  20. Domitianus, could you please provide information on which particular establishment this was, and whether or not it was a child friendly business. I personally think kids should be banned from public restaurants and public houses, but I guess for many of you that seems quite extreme. But certainly, in this case, it is absolutely vile and sickening to think that ANYONE could be so unsympathetic towards the needs of fellow patrons in an establishment which serves food. If I had been the manager or any member of staff who had seen this, I would have politely told the mother to pack her things and get out, and i'd also take great delight in making sure they were banned for life. Such ignorance. Louisa.
  21. TJS, it is funny you should mention a bloody white van, more than likely not connected, but I saw a small white van scratch and nearly knock off the side mirror of a car along Adys RD back in December. I tried to remember the details but sadly couldnt, so I waited around to speak to the owners who I think at first thought it was me who had done it! Talk about grateful! Anyway, just thought i'd better warn everyone that if it is the same white van, keep an eye out for it. Louisa.
  22. I have tried to get information from both Somerfield and The Co-operative on this little nugget of a new store and they simply told me that "no information has yet been made public about any such moves for a relocation of the current store on Lordship Lane", keyword here being "relocation", I make the assumption from this that although they cannot confirm anything, the store is likely to be moving as opposed to having an additional Somerfield/Co-operative down LL. I contacted Waitrose on saturday and they told me that "no plans were currently afoot for a new store in East Dulwich, but a new store will be opening in the summer at Croydon". M&S, who I spoke with earlier today told me to refer to the website for updates on any new store openings. So a very confused Louisa emerged from this digging for info. Louisa.
  23. EDOldie, I entirely agree about Harman, she angers me so because to me she reflects the greed and neglect of morality that seems to have become the Labour party post Tony Blair. Just as Lord Mandleson's words further infuriated the core vote by suggesting to working people that it was in some way selfish of them to not want local people to be able to compete fairly for jobs, whilst this man seems to have made his fortune from the EU. Total hypocrite in my eyes and is it any wonder so many Labour voters are turning their backs on the party. Harman to me seems very disingenuous with her timing on these comments, and indeed her motive behind the timing also seems a little suspect. Whereas some MP's such as Diana Abbott have fought their corner for what they believe to be right since becoming MP's all those years ago, people like Harman seem hell bent on backing the cabinet at all costs. I find it offensive and an isult to the intelligence of the electorate. Louisa.
  24. It will take a bit of persuading to get this working class girl to part with her hard earned cash ;-) I owe you one anyway because the snow event didnt happen did it? Louisa.
  25. H&M in Bromley is surprisingly nice actually. I wouldnt say no to this idea, but in all honesty, Rye Lane is in such an awful state I cannot see any branded high street stores moving into that space sadly. Louisa.
